While we've been unable to get any progress on on H.R. 911, which the Senate has been desperately pretending to ignore...

We also got H.R. 4247 through the House recently.

Both of these bills would go pretty far towards putting an end to some of the more outrageous abuses of children in the name of "discipline" (which if you did to an adult, would be classed as torture) - and predictably, against the ranting, raving, and petulant screaming the GOP Authoritarians and their Dobsonesque fantasies that you can beat people into compliance with your whims.

Another update, not related directly to the above, but to our having targeted the Juvenille Justice system for behavior similar to the hellcamps, is that in a pleasant surprise, the bastards at Terrebonne Parish *did* get indicted, and the case will go forward, which was unexpected given that backwater Lousiana isn't exactly the most progressive place for youth rights - conversely, that probably means these punks are gonna get the book thrown at em, still steaming of fire and brimstone, and I ain't a bit sorry.

The other one, Dozier, being one of our primaries, there's no official media commentary earlier than last year, but rest assured those documents are being reviewed by the GAO and charges are expected.

These places are a little easier to take on cause they actually HAVE records, at least some, and many of them are public - yet, they do need to be addressed because they fall into the grey area between education and incarceration, and fail miserably as a rehabilitative measure, instead serving as a halfway house from the education system to the criminal justice system, where most of it's victims inevitably wind up.

And as shown by the exposure of those two PA judges, many of the kids tossed in these places shouldn't even be there.

We've actually gotten a surprising amount of cooperation from official sources for addressing this problem, given that they were informed (and not by me this time!) that refusing to address the problem in an official manner would result in my boot up someones ass in short order.

Very much so, I am of course entirely amused at how much the rumor mill and grapevine tends to credit me with, most of it being complete bullshit, and a very great deal of it a cooperative effort with Protect, CAICA, CAFETY, TeenLiberty, Isaccorp and so many others...

But it's me they're scared spitless of, and so long as that is true, I'll be perfectly happy to smile nastily in their direction on command like a good little attack doggie, heh heh heh.

Age and hard use has caught up with me in a bad way, but yanno, even a fat old lazy tomcat can still be quite dangerous since his claws are as sharp as they ever were.

It's all bullshit, but it's USEFUL bullshit, meh.
