It was really stupid and ugly, so the ones who found it are going to call it "Keith Olbermann".

MSNBC is very excited! It loved to shove it's finger up it's nose, just like Olbermann does.

"...The fossil record of early humans is notoriously patchy and scientists now hope that the that the new remains will provide fresh clues about how our species evolved.

Scientists believe that a group of apelike hominids known as Australopithicus, which first emerged in Africa around 3.9 million years ago, gradually evolved into the first Homo species."

So , homos have been around a long while , then ?

"...The find is deemed to be so significant that Jacob Zuma, the South African president, has visited the university to view the fossils..."

Oh goodness , yes ! That would make it significant , then ! Politician-endorsed ape-men...

The joke is in the idea that you think you're more evolved than - anyone.

Summer Glau can simply walk into Mordor

Bones: "Don't 'rawr' her!"
Booth: "What? she'rawred' me first."

Being that I'm not entirely sure why this is being made fun of unless none of you believe in evolution... I think the thing about homo is a joke?

Homo is a phylogenetical family name stemming from "hominids." For humans, the species specification is sapiens, so the full name is homo sapiens, "wise man."

The plural of one sapien is sapientes.

Yup . Joke .

Might wanna have your humor detector seen to .

Also , depends upon the definition of 'evolution'...

'Phylogenetical family name' also depends upon the initial assumptions made , as to whether or not it is relevant...

DNA barcoding , if it were even possible in this instance , might shed new light on whether the accepted Linnaean-derived classification system would even apply here...

Form follows function...'Similar' doesn't exactly mean 'same' .

May be another conversation for another thread...
