Joe Brown and Allee Bautsch

Allee Bautsch, chief campaign fundraiser for Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, and her boyfriend Joe Brown, were savagely beaten Friday night in New Orleans after leaving a Republican party fundraising dinner by a group of thugs who reportedly targeted the couple because they were wearing Sarah Palin pins.

Bautch's leg was broken and Brown incurred a broken jaw and nose as well as a concussion.

The Hayride reports that a source who visited Bautsch at the hospital the day after the attack says they were told the couple was attacked for wearing Palin buttons:

Two people at the Brennan’s event have now confirmed that the protest had largely broken up by the time it ended, but we also understand from someone who visited Allee Bautsch in the hospital Saturday morning that she and Brown were followed and attacked expressly because they had Palin pins on (she heard one of the attackers say “Let’s get them, they have Palin pins on” – so the attack WAS politically motivated as its victims understood it. It was not a mugging, it was not an argument gone wrong and it was not a bar fight.

The story of a Republican and her boyfriend being viciously attacked for wearing Palin buttons has yet to make national headlines, unlike say, unfounded rumors of nasty words being said by Tea Party protesters.

But some important points - RAP FACTS , if you will.

These 2 were severely attacked, by a group of thugs ( white males ) which sent both to the hospital.

The girl had a freaking BROKEN LEG, her BF had a concussion and broken jaw. This was no mere scuffle, no simple mugging.

Whether they were targeted for wearing Palin pins, or any thing political, the fact was that they had just left a fundraiser for Gov. Jindal. ( R- LA ) There were protesters in the area, so it was well known that a GOP even was taking place in the Quarter.

Plotkin said the New Orleans Police Department is investigating.

If "nobody" yelled nigger but people claimed they did and there's no video showing it, how can you stand so staunchly behind something someone SAID and there's no video tape to prove it?

As has been argued in the other direction; it was a rally, a fundraiser, wso naturally people would have been carrying video cameras all over the place...why no video of the attack?

Oh, and the link you posted definitely was "less biased"; made NO statement that they were attacked because of wearing Palin pins, or any other political motive. Just 'derrogatory comments'--in quotes, mind you. Proof of nothing political.

So Democrats are the only ones who take things at face value and make assumptions, but Republicans, never, they could never be wrong.

Sorry, but there weren't hundreds of folks out at the time, but there very well may be video tape, in the form of surveillance. Even if not, their injuries, the eye witnesses and police reports suffice.

I knew one of you children would bring up the "video tape " crap, just thought Kwickie would beat you to it. Shows how mentally deficient arguments have become on such matters.

Sad.

New Orleans is a bit on the rough side. Always has been. Even after Katrina, when the city's population dwindled to near 1/2 it's former size. Even in the Quarter, where tourist flock, there are still incidents of violence. I'v been there several times, for big events and small ones, but never around a shooting, stabbing or such a brutal attack. This wasn't down some darkened alley, but near some of the more traveled areas of the Quarter.

At least you too note that I pointed out the facts, and ...oh, wait. You didn't really do much of that at all.

Never mind.

2 people got attacked and sent to the hospital, and all you can muster up is some dopey, juvenile remarks about there not being any video ( yet ) ?

Yet when Congressman lie, blatantly, and try to stir up fabricated / astro turfed hatred along racial lines... you get all worked up about that.

That's pretty fucking sad, imo.

The two entirely different scenarios are no where near the same. The claim of similar rules of evidence simply don't hold water here. Not even close.

I know you'd love to draw this out to a 100 reply long thread on why a Friday night dinner / fundraiser inside Brennan's is anywhere near the exact same thing as Congress members walking along, arm in arm, in broad day light, along streets lined with thousands of protesters. One, a private function, inside, another, a full blown public affair, made so by the very folks who cried foul, when confronted by folks opposing what they were about to do, instead of the adoring throngs of supporters they WISH they had.

The Dems made up stories about events which didn't happen, in broad day light, out in public, where large crowds were, as they walked into the U.S. Capitol building. Meanwhile, two young people were brutally beaten, at night, after a closed fundraiser at a private business. There might have been a dozen, or a few dozen protesters, at most, but that's not the issue. These were private citizens, not law makers, going about their business, when they were attacked.

And all you low lifes want to do is whine and bitch about how two totally unrelated events are some how treated and viewed as being any where similar ?

SERIOUSLY, take a look in the mirror. The childishness, the petty sniping and idiocy you offer up on this boards on such matters is worse than toddlers fighting over a blankie. How about y'all grow up, just a bit, and stop acting like complete brats.

There it is; as I said, it's pissing into the wind. All you can do is BELIEVE the cry of "nigger" didn't happen, yet BELIEVE the couple was attacked for political reasons. There is no video of either, the news clearly left room for doubt, and the other news clipping says NOTHING about political motivation.

Yet you stubbornly refuse to even admit there's a possibility that both took place on one hand, or that the motivation for the second might not have been political, although there's no proof it was. I'm not talking about the spitting; the person involved never spoke about it and the tape clearly shows it was overblown. I'm talking about there being no evidence the cry of "nigger" DIDN'T happen, nor is there evidence the beating WAS politically motivated.

Your argument that there's no similar demand for proof is pathetic; nobody can prove either one for certain, ergo either is open to question. The circumstances make no difference, and as you even said yourself

Are you saying that my car was stolen and stripped because of the Obama sticker on the window, not because it was a car popular with street racers? It was stolen not for performance parts, but for political reasons? Is that what you're saying?

Why ? It was the title of the article. I merely posted it here. Thought you were smart enough to figure that one out on your own. Guess not.

It was reported that the two ( or at least one ) was wearing a Palin button. Just as it was repoted that Rep. Lewis claimed a crowd chanted things at him, but there was no evidence.

If what was reported was actually said, then yes....it seems it was politically motivated.

As I said... time will tell. Does that bother you ? It doesn't me, not in the least.
