It's been awhile since I've run into anybody who worked on Our Favorite Show, but today, a little before 1:00, I was walking past a café called The Alcove on my way to visit my stepmom... and there was Ron, sitting at a table on the patio right next to the sidewalk!
He was mid-bite, so I didn't want to disturb his digestion, but hey — I just happened to be wearing my Blue Sun T-shirt!
I walked up to his table, which he was sharing with another individual, and said "Mr. Glass, I didn't want to bother you while you're eating, but then I remembered what I was wearing..."
I pulled my vest open to expose the Blue Sun logo, and he got a big old goofy grin on his face and held out his hand. We shook, and I reminded him that we'd met a few years earlier, at the Griffith Observatory.
Then I told him that I'd met Sean Maher a few weeks after that, at this very café: "...so I guess all you Big Damn Heroes gravitate to this spot, huh?"
He got a laugh out of that!

haha, that's awesome! Ron has such a great laugh, too. I think I read in an interview somewhere that he, Morena and Sean live in the same neighborhood, or at least used to, so that's probably a good area for BDH sighting.

Yeah, I actually saw Morena sitting outside at Café Figaro, a few blocks away, one day after my stepmom and I saw a movie at the Loz Feliz 3.
She was in a hurry to get to the car, so I couldn't stop down and introduce myself to Morena. I've never seen Morena again, so I get sorta depressed whenever I think of that missed opportunity.
All my best "Brushes with Greatness" have been when I was by myself, anyway. When I'm with my stepmom, she always hassles me if I go talk to an actor I recognize: "Leave those people alone, Chris! They're not your friends!"

LOL!

My closest brush with any of them was seeing Morena perform "Our House" live at Playwrights Horizons last spring - second row! But there was no WAY I could have worked up the nerve to go talk to her after. From what I've heard though, the cast all seem fine with people politely approaching them with a quick nice word though, as long as you aren't interrupting anything. I'm sure since most of them aren't super well known, it's relatively rare enough that its charming rather than overwhelming. Sean seems to be having a blast chatting with fans on twitter right now, for example, so it probably comes down to how often an actor gets mobbed before it starts to wear thin.

My guess is, this is all happening in LA which means I'm right with you TVC.

I pray for one last landing,
on the globe that gave me birth.
Let me rest my eyes on the fleecy skies
and the cool, green hills of Earth.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Shiny! Ron is so cool and he does have a great laugh.

CL in my eyes your a little damn hero. Imagine meeting our heroes like that, and them being regular folk and all. I must say that's pretty damn shiny.

Closest I came to a celebrity, well aside from spotting them in the city from time to time, was Sally Struthers a few years back. She was stepping out of a limo at the back entrance of Bloomie's in NY, when I was passing by on my way to a subway station. I nearly bumped into her, stopped and said hello (it's all I could think of) and she smiled said hello right back. She is tiny, but cute as a button.

I saw John Goodman at 30 Rock, but he looked like he didn't want to be bothered. Not approachable at all. I think I would go speechless if ever I saw one of our BDH, simply because I hold them in such esteem for being these characters that we love.

Still though you rock CL! Next time, even though they know it, tell them that their fans love 'em.
It would be like we all said it, and that would be fine with me.

I thought you meant Mark Sheppard at first, but horray for the encounter with Ron.

I've met about half the cast at conventions, and even in those circumstances when there are long lines of people wanting to meet them, they're still great folk, taking time to talk to each fan individually.
