Like woman, I am a mystery.
Quote:CHATTANOOGA - A mailed advertisement by a group campaigning against 3rd U.S. House candidate Chuck Fleisch- mann contains a phone number that could lead callers to a sex hot line. The advertisement was paid for by Club for Growth, a Washington D.C.-based group that says it works to promote public policies that encourage a high-growth economy. The group has endorsed one of Fleischmann's GOP opponents, Robin Smith. The ad contains the phrase, "Need an aggressive earmarker as your next congressman? Trial Lawyer Chuck Fleischmann for Congress." It carried an obvious fake phone number listed as "800-GET-SOME-PORK" with the phrase, "Call TODAY!" and a picture of a telephone. If a caller stops dialing at 800-GET-SOME, an automated voice says: "Hi sexy, I'm so glad you called" and continues to talk provocatively. The same message plays if callers dial all 15 digits on the advertisement. The automated voice eventually asks callers to enter their credit card numbers. Mark Winslow, a campaign spokesman for Smith, said the candidate does not endorse the number on the advertisement and that it would be illegal for her to be in communication with Club for Growth. Winslow said he "assumes" the organization didn't have any intent for the number to lead to a sex hot line. "If I were to call upon them to apologize or do anything else along those lines, that would be coordination, and we're not permitted to do that under federal law," he said. Attempts to reach Club for Growth late Tuesday were unsuccessful. In another development, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich endorsed Smith's campaign on Monday.
