Hey- and when they "lose" one or two of these planes that get "unexpectedly" armed with long range weapons from an "unknown" source, they can claim no responsibility for whatever happens! Cool!

Worse is that we sell em at a loss, for political favors, then whine that we don't have enough, then go running to loot the taxpayers to pay for more.

Besides, as DT mentioned, we kinda HAVE to arm the other guys, so they present enough of a "threat" to "justify" the warmongering which enriches the war machine, right ?
