"Terrorist" (ter-uh-rist)/noun: "anyone defying or impeding the will of the U.S. Government with any degree of efficacy" http://is.gd/ifijq

Now Assange is being called a terrorist. He's afraid for his life. His mother is so afraid she has gone into hiding herself. His children have received threats.

Meanwhile, Assange's mother, who runs a puppet theater in Australia, confesses that she is worried about her son's well-being. Telling the local press that she's extremely "distressed" about the global manhunt for her son, Christine Assange has gone into hiding herself out of fears for her own safety.

"We have hundreds of specific death threats from U.S. military militants. That is not unusual, and we have become practiced from past experiences at ignoring such threats from Islamic extremists, African kleptocrats and so on," he said.

"Recently the situation has changed with these threats now extending out to our lawyers and my children," he added. "However, it is the specific calls from the elites of U.S. society for our assassination, kidnapping and execution that is more concerning."

I've always had a problem with the word, "terrorist." It seems to lack a consistent definition, hurled at anyone we don't like, like a name on a preschool playground. The War on Terror has always seemed like a War on Evil--a lot of frothing and fuming with vague, capricious, and poorly substantiated targets. One moment Evil resides with the Taliban in Afghanistan; the next, Evil is hanging out with WMDs in Iraq. The next still, Evil has moved into the hands of "rebels." Rebels are always working with Evil, don't you know? Almost 10 years later, we're still there, fighting Terror, I mean, Evil, I mean, Poo Poo Heads who won't give us their lunch money.

Pisses me off they are doing this to JA and Wikileaks.

Only you forgot the purpose: "in order to keep people terrified, grab power and make money."

Ron Paul says we need a "Wikileaks episode" on the Federal Reserve.

I love that man.

Here we go:

Quote:

"Information warfare is warfare, and Julian Assange is engaged in warfare. Information terrorism, which leads to people getting killed, is terrorism, and Julian Assange is engaged in terrorism," said Gingrich. "He should be treated as an enemy combatant."

Wow. This won't be abused at all.

I like this one. A taste of its own medicine. If you have done nothing wrong, if you have nothing to hide, then what have you got to fear?

got-to.html

Quote:

When it was discovered that the Bush administration was using warrantless searches against Americans civil libertarians complained. Those who excuse every increase in State power screamed at us: "What have you got to hide? If you are innocent you have nothing to fear."

When we learned that Homeland Security agents were going into public libraries to check up on what people were reading the civil libertarians again complained. And once again we were told that if we had done nothing wrong we would have nothing to fear.

The Homeland Gestapo now has scanners which basically take nude photos of every passenger. Civil libertarians shrieked but the authoritarians among us were adamant that this too was necessary. And, of course, if you have nothing to hide then you have nothing to fear.

For those unwilling to be scanned in such a revealing manner the government makes sure it punishes those who resist by a new "enhanced" pat-down which includes government agents touching the genitals of resisters. Sure those crazy libertarian-inclined types were horrified. But yet again, it was made clear that if we have nothing to hide, we have nothing to fear. Only the guilty fear revelations, the innocent can have their entire life, or their genitals, open for inspection.

Now the people at Wikileaks has open for public scrutiny a slew of diplomatic reports and correspondence.

Have you noticed what we are not hearing from the authoritarians? None of them are saying, if the government has nothing to hide it has nothing to fear. None of them are saying that only the guilty need secrecy and darkness. I wonder why that is.

Well put. I've seen a few comments to the effect that apparently the right to privacy only goes one way now: The privileged class gets to keep the prying eyes of the public out, while they spy on us.

Hopefully Assange's new acephalous moving server network model will work, and we can have new unblockable shapeshifting websites.
