Byte, Chris, Littlebird, Mincingbeast, Oppyh, Peacekeeper, Rue, and the "good" River ... even Citizen and Gino, with whom I almost ALWAYS disagreed.

All gone...gone from here at least...and sadly missed.

No new people in quite a while, not that I'd blame anyone who came here and read the crap we endure. So many, some driven away I know, some others I have no doubt. We seem to get smaller and smaller ... which might not be the case if "some" DID go away.

So sad. For a potentially wonderful place (which is still fairly good, but getting less so for me, so I'm here less and here shorter time when I come). Must have been truly wonderful when there were many diverse voices, sorry I missed those times.

Oh well, on to better things...

Frem, HK, DT, Anthony, and yes, even PN, are still here. Those are just some of the names off the top of my head that keep me coming. If they stopped coming, I probably would too.

I miss SergeantX.

Niki, I think I have mentioned before that contributing to RWED gets a little difficult for us Brits at times, because of the understandably US centric topics of discussion.
I do try to jump in with a few soundbytes when the discussion becomes a little more globally relevant, but otherwise I am loathe to jump in without having the local knowledge.
Maybe,if Haken is inclined,it would be cool to have a separate forum where The non Americans among us could discuss things on a more involved basis;with the welcome contributions of the more Anglophilians such as yourself.lol.
Anyhow I've always tried to state my points short and sweet, so my inpiut has never been overly abundant. But I like to be missed. Thank You.haha

I personally wouldn't mind it if folks could opt to display a tiny flag, to indicate their country of origin.

You missed me? :)I am still here and check in from time to time. Sometimes one just needs a break from RWED. Scary monsters. :)sharks even.

Also, Hubby and I moved down to southern Ecuador in August and this little adventure has been quite time consuming. First off I got bit by a mosquito and came down with Dengue Fever. Was very sick. Then I started having some lung problems and to top it off my marriage broke up. So, here I am, out on the rim, trying to figure out how I'm going to manage this continuing adventure on my own. I've met some wonderful people down here and have a real cute little Hobbit like cottage I acquired just over a week ago. Wish I were better with the words, but it is simply amazing to be able to wake up and watch the sun rise over the Andes Mountains. It's not all bad.

Anyway, thanks for missing me. Been feeling kind of down with the whole marriage breakup thing.

Yup, CT, those are the ones who keep me coming back, too, among others. Along with Sig, Mal4, Mike, and Story. It's just frustrating sometimes...

PK, oh, I'm glad you're still around; maybe it's that I hear from you so little. You know, whenever you post about England, from my observation you start a thread which interests others, too. Maybe if you posted more, you'd give us some interesting threads, too...you just have to ignore the obvious you-know-what about Britain. But then so do we all; I certainly take my share for living in Marin, SF, CA, or whatever. I wish you would; I'm interested in all things British, definitely, and it's interesting to learn about other forms of government than our own. I wish all who are here from outside the US would post more; we'd learn more, for one thing!

Little, yes I miss you; yours is soft and valuable voice, and always pleasant to hear. I'm so sorry you've gone through all that, it must have been awful! I can't imagine trying to survive on my own (even when I was younger!) in South America; Europe or England, yes, I could get a job and I'd love to move to Switzerland even now, if we could afford to support ourselves. But I know I have a lot of misperceptions of South America, and one is that it would be awfully difficult to make my own way there!

I hope the New Year brings you all KINDS of good things; your karma is way too good for all that stuff to have happened to you, but then maybe it will end up making for a richer life, making your own way in a different country--we never know what live's vagarities will bring. It will certainly expand your horizons!!! I hope, selfishly, that things go better so you can come here more often.

And yes, I know some of those I miss may well just not be coming to RWED; it's where I hang out virtually exclusively, so I miss them here. I definitely know about sharks and stuff, which is the reason I think some of the voices are either gone or not here in RWED, and why some even recently have decided to come here less. That was kind of my point. Were it not for the sharks, I think a lot of those voices would still be here...like the River I initially confused with the other "River"...haven't heard from her in ages and would guess she got turned off and left. That's a shame.

I probably miss RIPWash the most, of the RWED posters who used to be around but aren't anymore. Which is funny because we agreed on next to nothing, but could have civil discussions ABOUT those disagreements.

And I miss Rue at least as much. Signy's input has been sorely needed around here, and it's great to see her come back. Anthony's input is always more than welcome, too.

I miss GinoBiffaroni, too. And Citizen. Both held views that were uncomfortable for left and right alike, but both also told uncomfortable truths that really should be told.

I left for long periods because of the sharks. Of course, my sharks were different from your sharks....

There were people here where, if I saw their names in my email inbox as having replied to my post, I physically shuddered. My body filled with dread at the idea of having to read anything written by them. That was time to get away. RWED should be fun, not psychological bullying.

When I was able to heal from those wounds and resolve not to let them keep me from enjoying the voices of others, I came back. But it took years.

I never knew some of the people you mentioned, but I wish I had.

I thought there were at least three Rivers--I kept hearing about a "River(and some numbers)" and at one time there was a RiverDancer here, and another Riverlove, and I forget the handle of the RiverSomething who came in and I mistook her for one of the others. But she didn't hang around long, and I liked her.

Oh, CTTS, you made me smile:

Boy, can I empathize!! Luckily, I haven't gotten to the "dread" part...a least yet...I just see their names, sigh, and know it won't be pleasant when I look for it. But given there may be responses beyond theirs, I check anyway. You're absolutely right; when it gets to you that bad, it's DEFINITELY time to take care of yourself. It just should never have to get to that point, because many (most?) at that point just walk away and never come back.

I continue to be unable to fathom those who make it that way, given they apparently have nothing better to do than come here and do their best to drive others off, while having absolutely nothing of any substance to offer. It seems like such an enormous waste of time, and so incredibly sad that they can't imagine anything else to do with that time, that I can't conceive of the need to do it. I guess I'll never understand, but I pity them and regret the harm they do to good voices here.
