We finally have one of these on the teardown table! Being in its presence, we can almost feel our civil liberties being flushed down the toilet.

The device is powered by four lithium-thionyl chloride (Li-SOCl2) D cell batteries. These cells are suited for extremely low-draw applications where longevity is needed, making them ideal for powering an always-on transmitter/receiver. Their service life is rated at 10 to 20 years.

No search warrant required for FBI to put this on your car...nor for you to find it. Abandoned property is yours to keep. That's THE LAW.

I like how it looks like a piece of exhaust pipe or strut ... not all high-tech and shiny, but like it belongs there.

Personally, I would be tempted to put in on another vehicle. A police car would be best.

Bingo. They'd build a helluva case against said cop, too - seems he's ALWAYS hanging out at known crime areas! :D

I mentioned this to one of our intern programmers. Apparently this was on Slashdot too. The geeks were having a lot of fun with it. One of the better ideas was to ship it by air. Can you imagine tracking at ... oh, say... 500 mph?
