Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

Just caught a movie on SyFy which I just HAD to watch, after reading the blurb. True, it's not a "real world event", but this is where I live and, being Browncoats, I thought you might get a laugh:
Quote:

Space smugglers transport cargo--a woman with special powers--that puts them at odds with an evil government. Matters get worse when they crash on a planet inhabited by carniverous insect creatures". What do you think someone was watching when they dreamed this up, hmmmm?

The government wiped out an entire planet of people who "just didn't want to be part of the United Planets", a secret the protagonists uncover. The information of which is held in a little container which at the end they go off to tell the universe about. A quote from the hero at the end: "have to take a detour, see a friend who'll know what to do with that drive. He's a little strange. You'll like him."

Giggles:

The hero was discharged from the Army, and hates the government
They supposedly smuggled arms to "dissident factions"
During the flight they "broke atmo"
Government figure threatens to send them to prison in a "corner of the black".

I giggled my way through. It diverted from the story line in places of course (tho' not very imaginatively) and was obviously a very low-budget B-movie. "Star Runners"...definitely do NOT catch it.

America loves a winner!

This movie have a name?

Weird, because SERENITY was just on SyFy, tonight. I caught the last 20 minutes of it or so.

River's head poking down from the hole in the ceiling... priceless.

Yeah, I said it in the end: "Star Runners". I do hope you don't look for it, tho', I'd hate to see even YOUR time wasted so. It was pretty bad, needless to say.

And , River's head coming down. Extremely memorable; I anticipate it with a smile every time I watch.
