I doubt she'll ever recover completely, Riona, sadly. Been watching experts talk about that kind of brain injury, and it looks like nobody ever comes back "completely". Hopefully it will diminish to only affecting her physically, not her speech or thinking, in which case I DEFINITELY hope she comes back. We need all the honorable people we can get in government, there are certainly too few of them, and she's a neat lady.

I think she could get totally back to normal, after a year her speech is amazing and she's thinking fully and has all her wits about her. I think if anyone is going to be fully back to normal its her. As to whether she runs again its up to her. She needs to do what is right for her.

Yanno, I don't begrudge it, I really don't - but it kinda makes me cringe inside to think...

If she got the kind of slashdash halfass bargain basement medical care the rest of us mere mortal peons get, would she even have survived, much less have recovered so well ?

I think it's completely shameful and morally irresponsible of us as a people, as a country, that the answer to that question is not yes.

Good--and reprehensible--point, Frem. From what I've heard, the vast majority of people never get back completely to what they were, but then she's done so great so far, who knows? I think aside from some good luck at where the bullet went, she's the one who gets credit for busting her ass and never giving up--one tough lady. Given the same "luck", I have no doubt I'd never be able to do what she did. Maybe more like good karma and damned hard work, who knows?

Well yeah, credit to the lady - but rememeber you're talking to someone who's terrible health is a RESULT of the lesser medical care us mere peons about - I am glad for her, but upset that such a standard of care is not universal, when we clearly have the means and ability to make it so.

I can only imagine how much less pain and trauma would be part of my life had I ever had such a standard of care in my case...
