Neither has the price of oil. We had $5 a gallon gas here in Austin for a while after Katrina, as did many other places. I've not seen $4 gas in the last few years, though.

Quote:And point of fact, Gas prices on the day Obama was emaculated vs what they are today( approx $ 1.90 vs $ 3.50 ) . And check back in a few months, see where gas prices are then.
Quote: Sure would be nice to have some domestic oil drilled , say like in Alaska, right now. Or how about a nice pipeline from Canada ? Naw.. .no need for any of that stuff, huh?

Or would you be cool with her continuing to do that, since it brings in heavy amounts of cash. I ask because my cousin's girlfriend has recently taken up stripping and he seems to be okay with that, she wasn't doing it when they met. We're all waiting for the other shoe to drop and for him to get tired of her doing it and either move on or suggest that she try something else. We think the reason he doesn't mind is because it means he doesn't have to work because she brings home lots of money every Sat. night. Quote:Obama was a social experiment, and although I admit he has been interesting, he has failed miserably and no theoretical words in the papers are going to say otherwise when so many hard working people are still out of jobs 4 years later can't find meaningful employment because some asian is still doing their "College-Educated-with-160k-of-tuition-plus-interest-job" is being done by somebody across the globe who is happy to make 3k a month and pay $150 USD a month for mortgage and 25 USD cents a pack for cigarettes. Meanwhile, I have a cousin who owes 70k in college tuition who has to try to pay that off (and interest), as she works folding shirts at Old Navy. An Indian or a Chinese professional can't physically fold clothes 10 miles from me. But a desperate college graduate in the US who is smart and owes 100k sure can. Am I just crazy, or is it just me seeing this?????

Quote:Originally posted by SignyM: It's not just you, Six, but the problem isn't "college education". The problem is that while there is PLENTY of "work to do"... fixing roads, building houses, teaching children, healing the sick... there aren't enough JOBS. And the reason for that is because the JOBS are controlled by the so-called "job creators" (excuse me... I have to go rinse my mouth) whose ACTUAL purpose is to GET RID of jobs. Especially ones that pay halfway decently.

I don't agree with absolutely everything you said, but certainly at least 75% of it, which is absolutely right on. Yet ANOTHER conservative (or "conservative-leaning" if you will) who can talk sensibly. That's two this morning...how wonderful! I won't comment further, got a demonstration to go to shortly, but I wanted to express my appreciation for stating the issue so well AND for staying on topic and resisting the urge to feed the troll. Many thanx.

Quote:Originally posted by m52nickerson: I love how some people operate. The right screams that we need more domestic oil production to bring down the price of gas. Under President Obama domestic oil production see its highest levels since 2003, but somehow the President is still to blame of higher oil prices. You would think that people on the right would understand supply and demand. If the increase in demand outpaces increases in supply you will see an increase in price. So if we as a country and a world start using less gas the price will come down. So that means if you want lower gas and oil prices you need more alternative energy sources unless you just plan on using less energy overall. I do not fear God, I fear the ignorance of man.
