Boy, are their faces gonna be red on December 22...

I have to wonder, though - if the *world* is going to end, then what's the point of preparing a doomsday bunker?

I'm not taking any special precautions, because if I'm wrong and the world truly does end, I'm not going to be around to be embarrassed by being unprepared, am I?

Cults always creep me out. It just seems like 'brainwashing' or the blind acceptance of ideals with no questions or doubts. Secret societies are a little more interesting.

Freedom is Important because People are Important

Hello,

Preparing for the end of the world seems rather pointless to me.

Preparing for the end of civilized society makes a degree more sense.

Someday I want to have 6 month's supply of rice, water, and vitamins, just in case of an economic or environmental hiccup.

It won't be living well, but it'd be living.

Never forget what this man is. You keep forgiving him his trespasses and speak to him as though he is a reasonable human being. You keep forgetting the things he's advocated. If you respond to this man again, you are being foolish.

I heard somewhere that if a cult garners enough followers, a certain number, it gets upgraded from cult to religeon. Anyone know the numbers on that? I don't remember, it was during junior high I saw it.

Gather: UFO Over Doomsday 2012 Mountain Pic de Bugarach (Video) =>
http://news.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474981226280

"A UFO was caught on tape flying over the modern day 'Noah's Ark,'
a mountain in France at the center of some Doomsday 2012 hysteria.

"This unidentified flying object was filmed over the Pic de Bugarach, a
craggy peak thousands say is already home to aliens. As December 21,
2012 approaches, true believers have started flocking to the site to
get a leg up on the rest of civilization once the world ends.

"Adherents to the theory believe they will get special dispensation
from extra-terrestrial conquerors by being closer to alien headquarters."

Looks pretty darn small, what ever it is.

Kinda looks like one of Chrisisall's models. Maybe he did one of the Jupiter 2, from Lost in Space ?

That's what it looks like to me.

Forget the Irrelevant US Presidential Election!

I think if Romney and the Tea Party were in power,
that could cause the end of the world, MY world, anyways.

With Obama, things might stumble on a while longer.

But since the inauguration/swearing-in doesn't occur
until January, and the World will end on December 21st,
the election is of no consequence.

All that really matters is to be entertained until The End.

It occurred to me that if electing someone who is totally
destructive of democracy, human rights, all the good stuff
Could bring about the end of an Era, Romney might actually
win the election so that the Mighty Universe will smite us
all for our irresponsible foolishness. But I think the MU is
ignoring us.

Aside from that, if I find the attention and motivation to do
a bit of work, I will likely start a UFO thread. :)

OT, but I found the movie CONTACT on the telly last night. I own it, but don't watch it near enough. One of my favs.

Earlier, before I even knew Contact would be on t.v. that night, I was watching Wonders of the Universe, on Discovery.

Prof. Brian Cox is pretty cool. I think the bulk of the show was on how solar systems form. Very interesting....

But , back to Contact. What if we already are receiving signals, via intense laser light, or radio waves ? What if ... it's been there all along ? Unlikely that any govt was able to hide that info, but even so...

Made me think.

END OF THREAD.....

Really...

If you've got 6 months of provisions like I do, and the firepower to protect what's left and get more, you have nothing to worry about.

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

Actually, there's an alien living in Johannesburg slum already, and perhaps one in a low rent flat in Paris, and maybe in a housing project in New York.

Well, so the story goes.

Gotta read the article, Mike. The aliens who live in the mountain (space aliens, not guys from North Africa) are gonna rescue the faithful gathered there when the world ends.
