Gen. Colin Powell said Wednesday on CNN's "The Situation Room" that he supports legal same-sex marriage, either at the state or federal level.

"I have no problem with it," he said in the interview, which will air at 5 p.m. ET. "In terms of the legal matter of creating a contract between two people that's called marriage, and allowing them to live together with the protection of law, it seems to me is the way we should be moving in this country. And so I support the president's decision." More at http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2012/05/23/powell-favors-same-sex

Liked him and disliked him at times, agreed with him, disagreed with him, but never thought he was stupid.

I first had my reservations about him when he convinced Bush41 to call off the beat down of the Iraqi army , back in Gulf War 1. It lead to us having to go back, 10 years later.

If I recall rightly, Bush sr. was convinced that we could not win in the Middle East.
By now, I suspect many more agree with that.

If I have to react to others all the time, then they own my mind more than I do.
If I let others tell me how to feel, I lose my ability to choose happiness.
If I let others tell me who I am, I've vacated self-definition.
Finally, I realized how foolish I was to give others such power over me.

No, what "lead" to us "having to" go back was the inbred idiocy of Dubya and his cronies. There was no need for us to go back.

No need for Us, the people. But his cronies made a lotta money.
It wasn't legitimately part of the War on Terrorism, and was
strategically stupid.

Right after the war, with Saddam still in power, many knew this wasn't over. Long before 43 thought of running, it was clear that something needed to be done. This isn't debatable.

I love how Rappy thinks that saying "This isn't debatable" ends all debate or conversation.

OF COURSE it's debatable. HW Bush left Saddam in power for very real reasons: specifically, because he was smarter than his idiot son, and knew that removing him from power would create a power vacuum and bring with it generations of chaos in the region.

Or are you suggesting that was the aim all along, to create a nightmare scenario in Iraq, making it worse than it was before? If so, "Mission Accomplished!"

All really good and valid statements; personally, I think that going into Iraq (the way we did and with no strategy to leave, especially) was a stupid move, and THAT's not debatable!
