Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

JeZUS, that sure is "war". I imagine tempers are pretty bad there and have been for quite a while, given the situation, but that's still pretty amazing. Thank goodness nobody here (I believe) would ever do such a thing, on either side. What's going on in Greece is really sad; I assume it's not much better in a number of European countries now, a lot of people are suffering. But that's pretty amazing.

That's not war, that's politicized Jerry Springer. Also, the attack appears to have had very little to do with the assaulted being women.

You can't call EVERYTHING war, devalues the meaning and horror of it.

War: A concentrated effort of direct violent or non-violent suppression or domination by one group against another group or against a group representing an idea. (for non-violent forms of war, see psychological warfare)

Certain acts are considered particularly criminal in war. These war crimes include genocide, rape (which can constitute genocide), and the torture, sterilization, non-consentual/coercive scientific experimentation, execution, or neglect leading to the deaths of prisoners of war.

The war on women can therefore be considered to include attacks on women or murders for being women or as they attempt to assert legal rights specifically granted to them, rape, malicious penetration with an instrument, any campaigns of terror, refusal to provide life-saving medical treatments or lack of follow up precautions after surgery, encouragement of unsafe or deadly practices, deliberate efforts to undermine decent standards of living, and in other countries, stoning for adultery and honor killing.

There is some overlap for some of those with equally cruel practices targeted towards men (the standard of living one comes to mind), though many of those are women specific.

Granted the thread title was a trifle petulent, being a snark on certain other "war on women" thread titles, but the situation in Greece and the rest of the Euro-zone (Spain's collapse is imminant) is relevant and WILL effect the ecomomies of the world including the U.S.
