"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

Quote:

The following statement comes from U.S. Rep. Thaddeus McCotter (R-Livonia), who today announced his resignation:

"Today I have resigned from the office of United States Representative for Michigan's 11th Congressional District.

"After nearly 26 years in elected office, this past nightmarish month and a half have, for the first time, severed the necessary harmony between the needs of my constituency and of my family. As this harmony is required to serve, its absence requires I leave.

"The recent event's totality of calumnies, indignities and deceits have weighed most heavily upon my family. Thus, acutely aware one cannot rebuild their hearth of home amongst the ruins of their U.S. House office, for the sake of my loved ones I must "strike another match, go start anew" by embracing the promotion back from public servant to sovereign citizen.

"I do not leave for an existing job and face diminishing prospects (and am both unwilling and ill-suited to lobby), my priorities are twofold: find gainful employment to help provide for my family; and continue to assist, in any way they see fit, the Michigan Attorney General's earnest and thorough investigation, which I requested, into the 2012 petition filing.

"While our family takes this step into the rest of our lives, we do so with the ultimate confidence in our country's future. True, as at other times in the life of our nation, we live in an Age of Extremes that prizes intensity over sanity; rhetoric over reality; and destruction over creation. But this too shall pass, thanks to the infinite, inspired wisdom of the sovereign people who, with God's continued blessings, will again affirm for the generations American Exceptionalism.

"Truly, it is a challenging and fortunate time to live in our blessed sanctuary of liberty.

"In closing, to The People of Michigan's 11th Congressional District, I can but say this: Thank you for the privilege of having worked for you."

"~ Thaddeus G. McCotter"

Hello,

I'm not quite sure I understand the reason for his resignation?

Ongoing fraud investigation likely has something to do with it.

He failed to make the ballot because of all the obviously faked petition signatures, and now a criminal investigation is underway, looking into vote fraud allegations leveled at McCotter, so he's doing what conservatives generally do: RUN AWAY!

Yup, hims got caught...they didn't even TRY very hard:
Quote:

Brian Dickerson: Thaddeus McCotter turns election cakewalk into Mt. Everest

Photocopies of petitions, dates that were cut and pasted onto the petition forms and different-colored ink on identical petitions were just a few of the tactics used to try to fool state election officials into believing that U.S. Rep. Thaddeus McCotter had enough signatures to get on the Aug. 7 primary ballot.

"This wasn't anything that was an innocent mistake," Lansing political consultant Tom Shields said Tuesday. "It was purely an attempt to make up for a lack of signatures, which is politically criminal."

Or maybe just plain criminal. The state Attorney General's Office is investigating to determine whether any laws were broken.

"We will review information provided by the Secretary of State and determine whether additional action is warranted," said Joy Yearout, spokeswoman for Attorney General Bill Schuette.

The ploy was so clumsy that it was easily spotted.

Bureau of Elections Director Christopher Thomas said Tuesday that elections officials found an "unprecedented level" of obvious fraud, including dozens of identical petition sheets that had been photocopied. In some cases, the petitions were identical except for the name of the circulator.

He considered a write-in campaign, but given he couldn't get enough legit signature to get on the ballot, probably a better idea to quit. Nothing can be done anyway, can it? There's no proof HE did anything, so....

Better to run, tho', you're right.

Don'tcha love the high-falutin' wording of his resignation? Poor guy's obviously been hounded into giving up his office, without even gainful employment to care for his family! What a manly-man thing to do...

He is SOOooo fulla shit.

They been doin this for years, but part of the problem is that the person in charge of handling election chicanery in Michigan is the Secretary of State, which is don't ya know ALWAYS a Republican (despite polls leaning massively in the other direction for the position) and ALWAYS wins by exactly 18181 votes, how convenient, ehe ?

I dunno exactly what inspired it, and likely both personal and less than altruistic, but one of his own staffers rolled him on this, and handed off the evidence to folks affiliated with Gus and Devine, and it snowballed from there since there's no way in hell to cover that one up without the willing participation and enabling of a damn lot of people who decided they didn't wanna play ball anymore, nor stick their own neck out...

Remember what I say about what these punks are if no one is willing to take their orders ?
Well THAT chicken came home to roost, and it crapped right on Thadpoles head, and ain't that a bloody shaaaameee....

Worth remembering I've had something of a feud with this sumbitch for a while, and damn skippy I jumped on the chance to add a couple pence to this and add some level of button pushing and arm twisting - it really rooks me that there's apparently little chance of broadening the investigation despite all of the local rethugs and about a third of the dimwitcrats do this, neither side is willing to have their own dirt exposed to get at the others cause so many of em are just as friggin guilty, you see.

This is also some level of karmic justice, since the Snyder recall *did* in fact have enough signatures, but the Sec-State used a buncha bullshit and legal contortions to purge enough to make it unviable to continue for the moment, and thus being force-fed and made to prosecute one of their own for ACTUALLY doing the shit they accused the recall of doing....

Well, some days fate is kind to me.
