sounds like another one of those little slips that reveal how the Republicans REALLY feel.
from Slate.com:

CNN reports:

"Two people were removed from the Republican National Convention Tuesday after they threw nuts at an African-American CNN camera operator and said, 'This is how we feed animals.'

"Multiple witnesses observed the exchange and RNC security and police immediately removed the two people from the Tampa Bay Times Forum."

I don't think any comment is needed.

Okay, let's bring this down to actual reality, okay? Those guys were very fringe, clearly. Today's GOP doesn't want people of colour attacked or called animals or anything. The just want decent God-fearing folk to hold them accountable for all the billions in welfare dollars they suck up, as well as the crime in the streets they perpetrate, and the drugs they spread into our communities. Little things like that.

Yahoo News Fires Washington Bureau Chief Over Romney Comments

Yahoo News fired Washington bureau chief David Chalian after he said on Wednesday during an online video broadcast that GOP nominee Mitt Romeny and his wife Ann did not care about African Americans suffering in the wake of Hurricane Issac.

Chalian seemed to not notice that a microphone was on when he made the comments that Yahoo later called "inappropriate."

"They're not concerned at all," Chalian said during an ABC News/Yahoo News broadcast, eliciting laughs from his colleagues. "They're happy to have a party with black people drowning."

The audio was posted by the conservative media watchdog NewsBusters, whose reporter Matthew Sheffield said the gaffe "provided the perfect example of the pervasive anti-Republican bias Mitt Romney faces in his bid to unseat President Barack Obama."

Chalian was immediately fired.

Yeah, you, like the Yahoo chief, have a great time lying about the GOP here. I get that. I really do.

But as for the thread...

I never denied it happened. So you're wrong there.
Yes, I DO suspect that it could have been Occubabies, because it's not unheard of them planting loud mouthed idiots into crowds of conservatives and trying to instigate name calling and spouting of hateful rhetoric.

And it's also not uncommon for Lefties to make false claims of hearing racist remarks, when no evidence can ever be found of it ever taking place, despite an offer for 10's of thousands of dollars.

Eg: Dems march to the Capital building behind a preening, arrogant Pelosi, with claims that folks spat at them and called out racial epithets.

It never happened.

This ? Seems to have been taken care of quite quickly. Still no word on who did it , why ? Where's the REST of the story ?

And Storybook, when dealing w/ the Left wing zealots who dream up conspiracy theories day in and day out, it's no contest as to who is full of bat guano.

That's about it. Funnier than hell, how he comes flying in so often when someone on the right screws up, and spouts his "it must have been Dems!" or somesuch, then usually finds something SOMEONE on the left did which he can point to like a pouty child and say "See?! See?! See?!"

What happened was pretty predictable, given the bigotry of some on the extreme right. It obviously doesn't represent even a very large faction of Repubs, but they're there, and the dog whistles to them and those who aren't quite as extreme have been flying for days now. Sickening; from what I've seen and heard, she's a nice lady and to be treated like that when just doing her job and not bothering anyone...makes me ill, it does.

It's there; Raptor et al can deny it until the cows come home, but it's there; anyone with half a brain can translate the dog whistles when they hear them. When I heard someone at the convention saying something along the lines of "we won't tolerate that sort of language", my mind just automatically filled in "...in public".

Not even a batshit crazy conspiracy theory, actually, Mark, just whatever Raptor cn grab out of thin air to fire back with. Doesn't matter if it's valid, pertinent or even real, just SOMETHING to excuse whatever the right did wrong and/or point out something bad about the left. Niki, that shit is just that. Shit. Stuff you say to make yourselves feel better about trashing your opposition. Exactly like what we saw w/ the Yahoo bureau chief. Beyond nonsensical, baseless, and w/ out any merit, what so ever.

Remember back a while when I said in another thread, that " perception is reality " ? This is exactly what I meant. It's beyond disgusting, and yet you tell yourselves the lie, over and over again, until you believe it so strongly, it becomes a joke to you. One that you'll even repeat in PUBLIC, so smug and comfortable in the fantasy world you've created for yourselves.

Doesn't he always, when he has nothing to come back with? Tho' admittedly he's a pro at comebacks like claiming it was Occupy people who did this ugly thing...he's got a good imagination, to bad he doesn't choose to use it in a healthy way.

The most amusing part is that I get my news from many different and varied sources; he gets his from FauxNews and right-wing radio EXCLUSIVELY, from what he's said. So whose eyes and mind are closed, I wonder? Hell, I'll bet money he doesn't even HEAR about stuff like this from HIS sources. Gee, just think, we're actually exposing him to actual news he'd never hear otherwise. Of course, he rejects it, denies it, distracts from it and attacks those who post it, so I guess it's a zero-sum game.

Oh well, at least I'm sure he's cozy in his little right-wing cubby hole...unlike some of us, it saves him from being pissed off when his "side" does something stupid, he can always come up with something to avoid looking right at it. I think I'd rather have it the other way; I'm quite willing to go after the left if they do something as egregious as this, or even something wrong. Don't think I've EVER heard him do the same (except for the remark about not getting pregnant from rape, but that's the only single time I can remember, and gawd help him if he'd tried to justify THAT!).

Just saw his last post...made me smile. He's trying SO hard to find some way to wiggle out of it. Hope it doesn't give him a heart attack, twisting around so energetically! Makes sense, tho'; bet he never heard about it from his sources, so maybe it didn't happen, maybe it was just a librul conspiracy (made up by CNN no doubt just so's we could call them racists).

Chris..

That was illogically funny.

Sorta.

However, THIS is reality...

Quote:

MSNBC intentionally cuts Minority Speaker from the Coverage

There are some troubling allegations surfacing surrounding MSNBC’s Republican National Convention coverage on Tuesday night.

Numerous conservative outlets are reporting that the network either cut away from or simply axed out speeches and addresses by many of the minority speakers and politicians in attendance (earlier this week, TheBlaze also reported extensively about race and the RNC). As a result, some journalists and commentators are wondering if the race-based coverage was intentional.

Last night, Red Alert Politics’ Francesca Chambers first reported about the wide array of minority voices who were purportedly axed from the left-leaning network’s coverage. According to Chambers, when Tea Party candidate Ted Cruz, a Hispanic Republican, began his speech, MSNBC cut away from it.

Also, when Vela Fortuno, wife of Puerto Rican Gov. Luis Fortuno spoke, Chambers claims that Rachel Maddow and Chris Matthews simply spoke over and ignored her address.

As for former Democratic Rep. Artur Davis, an Alabama politician who served from 2003 to 2011, he, too, allegedly wasn’t covered by the network. Davis has gained press in recent days over his shocking switch to the Republican Party. MSNBC was said to be on a commercial break during the African American’s speech.

Others who were missing from the media outlet’s coverage, critics claim, were Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval, who is Mexican, and Mia Love, a black Republican from Utah who is running for Congress. Chambers gave MSNBC some credit for including South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, an Indian American, but she wrote that the politician “is not conventionally considered a minority.”

KPO is right; he's doing an excellent job of turning the issue from the fact of a couple of Republican Convention goers acting like racist pigs to talking about HIMSELF.

Can we go back to the initial subject now?
Quote:

Multiple witnesses observed the exchange and RNC security and police immediately removed the two people from the Tampa Bay Times Forum.

The convention released a statement saying, “Two attendees tonight exhibited deplorable behavior. Their conduct was inexcusable and unacceptable. This kind of behavior will not be tolerated." {"in public"}

CNN also acknowledged the incident, saying, "CNN can confirm there was an incident directed at an employee inside the Tampa Bay Times Forum earlier this afternoon. CNN worked with convention officials to address this matter and will have no further comment.”

Yup, HUGE left-wing conspiracy. I wonder how they got the convention to officially denounce the actions of these two? Helluva conspiracy, those libruls are POWERFUL!

Oh, hey, here we go:
Quote:

While some have called it an obvious racial issue, others have suggested that it is a "left wing set-up."

"The dems went too far on this one. A woman I can understand. that would fly. A Black person I could understand. thay would fly. but a Black Woman! You just blew your cover. I'm ashamed of you. Wheres your head? Who's gonna buy that?" suggested a user named "mikehuntsman."

Damn, they got us. It's no use, they can see through us...tho' apparently they have some difficulty with English...

Here's an interesting take on it from The African Sun Times:
Quote:

You may have noticed that one of the biggest news organizations in the world — CNN — has been remarkably tight-lipped about this.”

Finally both CNN and the Republican Party confirmed the assault through a statement, titled “RNCC Calls Incident Against Black CNN Camerawoman ‘Inexcusable And Unacceptable’, while the CNN statement read, “Two people removed from RNC after taunting black camera operator.”

Marshall theorizes that the reason for CNN inaction is because it doesn’t want to draw attention to itself as the story, especially since it is trying to tout itself as the fairest of all the cable networks. “So it’s worth noting why that probably is. There’s a normal and correct tendency for a news outfit not to want to make itself into the story. But this goes way beyond that and puts CNN in an exquisitely awkward position. CNN has been bending over backwards of late trying to position itself as the last holy beacon of objectivity and fairness in cable news, as Fox and MSNBC play to more clearly partisan audiences. Yet they’re under almost constant assault from conservatives for alleged (and basically mythical) liberal bias”.

Well, of course, if you consider FauxNews "Fair and Balanced", ANYTHING even slightly less rightw-ing is going to be considered liberally biased, so that makes sense.

The same article calls what happened an "assault" rather than an "insult" and says the two should have been arrested. I think that's going too far, but I heard the suggestion that they should have had their convention credentials revoked, which I think would have been appropriate.

It's ironic - they want to do away with all social programs, saying that charities will take up the slack, and then they mock anyone who goes looking for a little bit of charity.

I guess they don't mind helping, they just want to make sure you're suitably humiliated in public first.

Niki, I know nothing more from your most recent post about the story than we already knew. Who were these folks, and what was the reason for this ' assault' ?

Pretty ridiculous, as we're told they tossed peanuts at her, to call it an 'assault', but hey...maybe they were hot boiled peanuts ?

And deliberately lying. And faking things. MSNBC omits stuff; omigawd, what a shock!

MSNBC is a left-leaning cable station, obviously it fit their agenda to choose who and what to cover. Big surprise. Think I've said that myself at least once. Coming from a FauxNews watcher, it's almost funny. At least they didn't fake something or blatantly lie, as FauxNews does (AND gets caught at, AND admits to) so often. But definitely them deciding what to cover and what not to cover equates PERFECTLY with the subject of this thread. You betcha. Omitted speeches...racial insults. Same thing, obviously.

Asking to know who the people were and what their motivation was is humorous, too, given they were tossed out so nobody knows who they were...as to their motivation, that's pretty clear by their action., But hey, we can't believe it unless a "fair and balanced" source tracks 'em down and interviews 'em, can we? Otherwise: vast librul conspiracy, obviously.

Actually, Mike, they are "dancing and partying away", not giddy BECAUSE "black folks are drowning some where (sic)", but pretty much oblivious to it.

Wow. Niki openly supports msnbc's lies by omission, she's so brainwashed.

And to show how deluded she is, we have this mindless tirade against FOX News. Where does FOX come in to this story? Oh, no where, what so ever. I never said I heard 1 thing about this story from FOX, and so what does that have to do w/ anything ?

Absolutely nothing. Niki is trying the classic dodge and divert tactic, so well rehearsed by those on the Left.

The Left is actively trying to create its alternate universe by omitting, in Orwellian fashion, information which does not meet their agenda.

How many times did they use the words "allegedly" and "reportedly" in that "article"?

How much coverage did Fox give to the crowd booing the delegate from Puerto Rico? Any? Or were they by some miracle in a commercial break when that happened?

So far, no such evidence has come to light.

According to Rappy, that absolutely proves that they weren't lefties.

Wow. That Puerto Rican thing was pretty stunning. Even when Priebus tried to call them to order and ask them to give her respect, it took a while as some kept shouting. He looked thoroughly disgusted.

What was their problem anyway? Why chant "USA"? Some people were saying something else, but I can't read lips and wonder what they were shouting. All in all, that's pretty embarrassing for the Republicans, I'm not at all surprised FauxNews cut away from it.

Ahhh, as usual Raptor provides the humor of the situation. I guess my snide references to their bias wasn't good enough. Let's try this: I decry ANY actions from any station whatsoever which involves racism. Maybe that's clear enough for his pea-sized brain?

However, in that case I then have to decry FauxNews' coverage, because guess what?
Quote:

Depending on what websites you read last night, you might think MSNBC purposely avoided airing the speeches of several ethnic minority Republicans to further their progressive personalities’ narrative of the GOP being “racist”.

RedAlert, Hot Air, The Daily Caller, and Town Hall were among the right-leaning websites who ran with the story that MSNBC had purposely neglected to cover the minority speeches.

To fuel their false ‘GOP is racist’ argument, MSNBC conveniently cut every speech given by a minority,” wrote Town Hall editor Katie Pavlich in a reaction article titled “Pathetic”.

Indeed, a purposeful omission of the minority speakers would be “pathetic,” except for one glaring detail that all of these publications themselves omitted:

With the exception of black former Democratic Rep. Artur Davis, MSNBC and Fox News covered and omitted the same exact speeches.

Both networks aired the speeches by NH Senator Kelly Ayotte, Ohio Governor John Kasich, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, Ann Romney, and NJ Gov. Chris Christie.
But for minority speakers, here’s a handy guide to how the rival networks broke down coverage:

• Mia Love: MNSBC was in commercial; Fox aired Shepard Smith‘s coverage of Hurricane Isaac from New Orleans.

• Brian Sandoval: MSNBC aired hurricane coverage; Fox’s Sean Hannity interviewed Rep. Eric Cantor.

• Ted Cruz: MSNBC cut to panel analysis of the convention; Fox went to commercial and returned with a Scott Walker interview.

• Artur Davis: MSNBC aired panel discussion, mentioned his speech 5 minutes in, but didn’t air it; Fox aired the entirety of the speech.

• Nikki Haley: both MSNBC and Fox News aired the speech.

• Lucé Vela Fortuño: MSNBC aired more roundtable discussion; Fox News cut away to discussion by Bret Baier and Megyn Kelly.

So with the exception of former Rep. Davis, MSNBC did not omit any speeches that Fox News did not also omit. http://www.mediaite.com/tv/msnbc-falsely-accused-of-purposely-omitting

OMIGAWD, how TERRIBLY RACIST FauxNews' coverage was!! Disgusting...

Oh, gawd (wiping tears), it's just too wonderfully funny.

Seriously, Of COURSE FauxNews is relevant to the story...given their coverage was exactly the same, with one exception, calling MSNBC racist because of their coverage is...well, he got the "news" from The Blaze, among his other usual right-wing sources, so who's surprised?

Here's how the actual coverage of the convention came down (with regards to the coverage of Isaac, happening at the same time):
Quote:

CNN had the most even split between coverage of the convention and coverage of the hurricane. CNN's chyrons told the story as well as anything: facts about Mitt Romney took up one half of the screen, while a storm tracking graphic took up the other. At 7 PM, CNN featured a literal split screen, with Cooper on hurricane watch and Wolf Blitzer in Tampa. Fox News also spent most of its hour with hurricane updates.

MSNBC, which puts more of an emphasis on politics than the other two networks, stuck with the RNC. When Isaac made landfall, though, Maddow shifted focus. "We're responsible for covering that because it's as big a story, frankly," she said as she cut off politics talk to get a brief update on the hurricane. "This is a big, big deal."

Over the next hour, CNN spent the most time on Isaac, regularly breaking away for extended reporting from Cooper and his team. Fox News and MSNBC devoted much more time to convention speeches and punditry.

When the most high-profile speeches such as Rick Santorum's began, however, all three networks stayed firmly in Tampa. The main broadcast networks, NBC, CBS and ABC, began their coverage at 10 PM. All three led their coverage with updates from Isaac.

Anyone think Raptor will apologize for claiming The Blaze's story shows "The Left is actively trying to create its alternate universe by omitting, in Orwellian fashion, information which does not meet their agenda"? If he's right, then obviously the Right is actively trying to create its alternate universe by omitting, in Orwellian fashion, information which does not meet their agenda. Right?

Personally I think it likely FauxNews omitted the coverage they did because their audience DOESN'T WANT TO HEAR FROM MINORITIES, but that's just my opinion. What do you think will be Raptor's explanation for FauxNews cutting away exactly the same coverage?

It's too damned bad Raptor never gets his info from sources other than right-wing-biased TV and radio which obviously omit information in an Orwellian fashion to suit their agenda. But it's funnier than hell that he tried to use this to show MSNBC was "racist", when FauxNews did PRECISELY THE SAME THING!

So, Raptor, anything to say?

Now that we have that solved, personally, I'm more interested in the Puerto Rico thing. I still can't figure that one out, what motivated it or why it was so big. Is there something wrong with Puerto Rico to Republicans?? Don't they count or something? Given they apparently had no problem with other minority speakers, why attack Puerto Rico? It's very weird to me...there must be something I don't know.

ETA: Okay, I got it. It wasn't about Puerto Rico, it was about the Ron Paul delegates:
Quote:

A shouting match erupted on the floor of the Republican National Convention on Tuesday afternoon as Chairman Reince Priebus called for a vote to unseat several Ron Paul delegates.

Loud cries of “Boo” and” Seat them now” filled the convention floor as repeated calls to contest a credentials committee report fell on deaf ears after it passed by a voice vote. A majority of the delegates from six states were required to call for a roll call vote on the credentials report, submitting their intent to do so in writing in advance. Despite Maine the delegates’ claims, no such support came from their colleagues from other states.

The boos disrupted the speech of Puerto Rico National Committeewoman Zori Fonalledas, who was set to announce the nomination of Speaker of the House John Boehner as permanent convention chairman.

They did not boo Puerto Rico. Their chant of "Kick them out" was not referring to Puerto Ricans (and that's what was being shouted by some which I couldn't make out, it's obvious now).

It's a shame that the story of the undemocratic process the Republicans used to squash dissent has been overshadowed by the claim that the RNC delegates booed Puerto Rico. The fracas had nothing to do with Puerto Rico. The next speaker would have been disrupted and delayed no matter who she was. She just happened to be from Puerto Rico.

THAT makes much more sense, and in the clip, I was confused because the chanting seemed to start before she spoke, too.

So -1 for Raptor believing bullshit put out by the right, and -1 for Mike buying into the claim that they were booing Puerto Rico's representative. I still think the brainwashing Raptor bought into, and spewed such venom about, is funnier.

AND I agree with the author; the games played by the GOP to silence Ron Paul supporters, and the enthusiastic booing and "kick them out" by the conventioneers should be embarassing to the GOP...if they were capable of being embarrassed, that is.

And -1 for Niki thinking I bought into anything. I'd read several stories covering both sides of the booing issue - some claimed it was racism at the core of it, and others claim it was just the PaulBots' death rattle.

I never gave a REASON why she was booed, just that there were attendees there who booed the woman from Puerto Rico when she came out to speak. Others can draw their own conclusions.

The booing of her was probably borne out of the exact same sense of racism and animus that led MSNBC and FauxNews to omit most of the speeches given by minority speakers at the RNC.

Pretty sneaky, Mike. Saying "the crowd booing the delegate from Puerto Rico" is pretty clear...they didn't boo her. You said they did. If you didn't believe it, then you were being deliberately devious by saying they were.

Oh, they WERE booing her, it just wasn't because of her race. They were booing because Puerto Rico had been moved to the front of the floor and the PaulBots had been moved into the nosebleed section.

Devious? Hmmmmm... "Leading", perhaps. What I posted DID happen, but people have ascribed their own beliefs for WHY it happened. Most of the credible sources I saw for the story pretty quickly made clear that while it might have appeared to be racially motivated, they were pretty sure it wasn't. But it did actually happen - she came out, was booed and shouted down, and even the GOP Chairman couldn't seem to calm down the angry mob that was yelling over her.

I heard this morning on the radio that Ron Paul is retiring. I have no idea if that was an accurate report or not, but if it is, I can't say as I'd blame him. He must be a bit mortified by the behavior of some of his followers, but I'm sure that holds true for every politician at some point.

The booing started before she came out, if you watch the video it's clear.

Personally, I think Paul would retire more because he's seen the futility his people have faced at the hands of the Republicans. I don't know whether he thinks the actions of his followers have been justified or not, but the GOP has certainly shown that he'll get NOWHERE within their ranks, and I'm pretty sure he understands the futilty of a third-party run.
