It's to laugh:
Quote:

"Smart people" in America will never back conservative Republicans, or so says Rick Santorum – a conservative Republican whose verbal missteps are becoming as well-known as his hardline posturing on social issues.

Santorum, who ended up being Mitt Romney's closest rival for the 2012 Republican nomination, made the comment at the conservative Value Voters Summit in Washington.

"We will never have the media on our side, ever, in this country. We will never have the elite, smart people on our side," Santorum said in a speech to the gathering of conservative activists at a Washington hotel. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/sep/15/rick-santorum-smart-people

Apparently, stupid tho' he is about so many things, at least Santorum recognizes they'll only get the dumb people on their side!

Oops, I just noticed Santorum's idiotic remark has made its way into Mark's signature...sorry Mark, I'm just a bit slow on the uptake sometimes.

Yup, that was the same event where Romney and Lyin' Ryan were scheduled to appear with a guy who describes himself as a "terrorist". So they are, literally, "pallin' around with terrorists."

For your edification...no, wait, that's not possible...for the edification of OTHERS, here he is in all his glory:

Joke, eh? I don't see him laughing...I don't hear anyone else laughing...he's dead serious. That is, unless you think he was joking about never having the media on their side, either...

Oh, and to say it was a joke, you'll have to clip it so nobody hears what he says afterwards...FauxNews could probably help you with that one.

Wanna try again?

Truly amazing, isn't it? If Raptor and his buds were ever to admit anything anyone on the right did was dumb, they'd probably have a coronary. Or would their heads just explode?

Here's a dare: Can any of you righties even TRY to say something negative about ANYTHING on the right? I wanna see what happens if you try. But of course it won't happen, because every single thing in the world that anyone on the right has ever done is perfect...riiight.

Oh, the GOP and Rick S do plenty stupid, no doubt there. But the finer point you're not getting is the running joke of how the " elites ", the ones running most of this nation's universities ( and entirely the Ivy league system ) , are all extreme, far Left wingers, and how they have everyone conned into this view that they're the smartest folks around. There were some muffled laughs in the audience, but Santorum wasn't trying to be 'ha-ha' funny. No, he was making a point.

Why should we ? The MSM fabricates enough negative press already, while completely ignoring real issues the Left is guilty off, almost on a daily basis. To point out legitimate faults of the Right would only seem like piling on, while giving the Left all that much more of a free pass.

I suspect you know all this, but are merely doing your part at feigning dirt stupid, because you know the Left is so completely and totally full of go-se, that you'll do and say anything to keep that stink from getting on you.

After weeks of talks, after late-night confabs that ran into the wee hours... they came up with the idea that "It was just a joke!"

That's the best they can do?

Although honestly, I do agree: Santorum, Romney, Ryan, and the entire GOP really *are* a joke!

I absolutely love it; the only response to a dare to say anything negative: "Why should we ?" Beautiful. I was right, his head WOULD explode!

Well, my head WOULDN'T explode, and I have no fear whatsoever of saying the ACTUAL bad things done by Democrats. Not the silliness Raptor expounds--I sometimes wonder, is he even capable of actual mental exercise, or just puppets what he hears without engaging the brain?

I guess it's the fact that they firmly believe all university professors--scratch that--all TEACHERS are "elite" (socialist?) that keeps the Republicans working so hard to diss education. What a strange mentality, to put down learning in favor of ignorance...

Admitting anything negative about the right would give the left a "free pass". Here. On an unnoticed website by fans of a long-cancelled sci fi series. Yeah, of course it would...nice try! Naw, amend that, it wasn't even a good try. Just evasion.

He was right, too, Mike, "intellegence" has nothing to do with it.

Forgetful Niki, I've already said plenty bad about the GOP. But you just want me to add more fuel to the fire, as I've already said, because it detracts from the horrific track record of the Dems. That, I will never do, because far more times than not, the destruction and evil ( pure evil ) of the Left is destroying this country and is more damaging to our society than you not getting the point Santorum was making.

It was a joke. He was being sarcastic. Call it being passive aggresive, if that makes you understand better. But this beyond childish ranting by you and others that it was anything other than a joke is simply pathetic.

"pure evil of the left", "destroying our country". Gawd he's sad, incredibly sad. Incapable of even imagining that there might be evil beyond the "left", or that the left might not be PURE "evil".

Enough already, my stomach is starting to churn. An intelligent adult would be willing to admit that there are things wrong with BOTH parties, neither is "pure evil", and both have political agendas which aren't necessarily good for the country. But then, "intelligent adult"...you know...

Enuff already...I've been here too long today, it's depressing me.

Yeah, Mark, sadly. It just never ceases to blow me away to hear that kind of rhetoric coming out of an actual human being. Not an intelligent one, mind you, one doesn't need to even be particularly intelligent to realize how completely stupid such statements are... Maybe one just needs to be Republican and get one's information ONLY from FauxNews and right-wing radio.

Poor Nobody...much like Raptor himself, he can't hold a thought for two minutes--or READ, so he keeps forgetting that I never said I'd ignore Raptor, only that I wouldn't engage him; I'm quite willing to snark about him and point out his pathetic ultra-right-wing mentality, I just try not to speak TO him, given the futility that engenders. I wonder why these guys can't grasp a concept like that. It seems strange.

It's kinda sad, really. He can't come up with anything witty, or even biting. He just quotes people, and repsonds with some nonsensical junk that makes it look like he's totally confused by the conversation.
