"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

Quote:

Mitt Romney and the GOP have paid several firms with a long history of voter fraud allegations, and a man named Nathan Sproul — who runs most or all of them – more than $2 million recently for “voter registration” in key swing and battleground states, according to reports out today. Some of the firms, Grassroots Outreach, LLC, and Strategic Allied Consulting, share the same address in Tempe, Arizona and seem to be shell companies, according to a report, while Sproul clearly runs others, like Sproul & Associates and Lincoln Strategies.

The $2 million plus does not include these groups’ activities going back at least to 2004. Nathan Sproul (image, top) runs Strategic Allied Consulting, and possibly Grassroots Outreach, LLC.

There are several related stories, plus a video, which we’re going to put all together for you so you can see the huge implications. The first report, from Brad Friedman at Salon, the second, a video that went viral the past two days, seems to show what these contractors do, and lastly, another report, from Lee Fang at The Nation.

“The Republican Party of Florida’s top recipient of 2012 expenditures, a firm by the name of Strategic Allied Consulting, was just fired on Tuesday night, after more than 100 apparently fraudulent voter registration forms were discovered to have been turned in by the group to the Palm Beach County, FL Supervisor of Elections,” Brad Friedman, writing at Salon, reports:

The firm appears to be another shell company of Nathan Sproul, a longtime, notorious Republican operative, hired year after year by GOP Presidential campaigns, despite being accused of shredding Democratic voter registration forms in a number of states over several past elections.

According to the Center for Responsive Politics, Strategic Allied Consulting has been paid some $667,000 this year by the Florida GOP, presumably to run its voter registration campaigns in the state. That number, however, does not account for another identical payment made in August. The Palm Beach Post is reporting tonight that the firm received “more than $1.3 million” from the Republican Party of Florida “to register new voters.”

The firm is not only tied to the Florida GOP, but also to the Mitt Romney Campaign, which hired Sproul as a political consultant late last year, despite years of fraud allegations against his organizations in multiple states.

Moreover, the firm is also reportedly operating similar voter registration operations on behalf of the Republican Party, to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars, in a number of key battleground states this year, including North Carolina, Virginia and Colorado. Strategic Allied has recently taken steps to hide their ownership by Sproul’s notorious firm, Sproul & Associates.

Palm Beach County Supervisor of Election Susan Bucher confirmed to The BRAD BLOG late this evening that she turned over 106 suspicious voter registration applications to the Florida State Attorney during a meeting yesterday afternoon in Palm Beach, after the “questionable” applications were submitted to her office by a worker for Strategic Allied.

The forms were said to all have similar signatures, changed addresses and party affiliations, and other defects which appear to have all been done by the same hand.

The case emerging in Florida tonight mirrors a similar incident reported earlier this year in which more than a thousand fraudulent voter registration forms were discovered to have been turned in to the Sacramento County, CA Registrar of Voters by a group hired by that state’s Republican Party.

But Strategic Allied Consulting is not the only case of its kind, as a massive GOP voter registration scheme, which could involve the upper-echelons of the national party, appears to be underway.

What, no righties to claim their indignation at such a terrible slur? I'm shocked.

But I'm NOT shocked by the story itself, seen far too many like it{

"Republican Candidate in Arizona Convicted of Voter Fraud":

A Pinal County supervisor candidate has withdrawn from the race in the wake of voter-fraud allegations involving a former companion who, records show, has continued to vote by absentee ballot in the five years since her death.

As recently as this year, the letter alleged, someone had been filling out and mailing in absentee ballots addressed to a woman who died on Feb. 3, 2007. The woman, Sheila Nassar, and Enright lived together at the time of her death. http://thinkprogress.org/justice/2012/07/31/612911/republican-arizona-

White, Indiana GOP Secretary Of State, Sentenced After Felony Convictions":

Indiana's ousted top elections official was sentenced Thursday to a year of home detention for six felony convictions that a judge refused to reduce to lesser crimes – a ruling that, if upheld on appeal, will likely cost him not only his office but also his law license and livelihood.

Hamilton Superior Court Judge Steven Nation said the intentional disregard that Secretary of State Charlie White showed for the law outweighed portrayals of him as a loving father and husband. The judge refused to reduce the six felony convictions to misdemeanors that would have given the 42-year-old Republican a chance to hold onto his office.

"I believe he violated the trust of the people," Nation said.

White said the charges he was convicted of Feb. 4, including perjury, voter fraud and theft, ignored a complicated personal life in which he was trying to raise his 10-year-old son, plan a new marriage and campaign for statewide office in 2010. He said he stayed at his ex-wife's house when he wasn't on the road campaigning and did not live in the condo until after he remarried. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/23/charlie-white-indiana-secreta

into Trashed Voter Registrations"

Federal, state, and local officials are gathering information about allegations of voter registration fraud that were first raised Channel 8 Eyewitness News. An employee of a private voter registration firm alleges that his bosses trashed registration forms filled out by Democratic voters because they only wanted to sign up Republican voters. The allegations have set off a political firestorm stretching from Las Vegas to Washington D.C., and beyond.

At its core is the matter of registration forms that were ripped up and tossed in the trash. Las Vegan Eric Russell worked for a company called Voters Outreach of America, along with 300 other people. He says he witnessed his bosses ripping up registration forms that had been filed by democrats.

"They were thrown away in the trash. I grabbed them out," said Russell.

Russell doesn't know how many democratic registrations were tossed in the trash but guesses the number could be very high since Voters Outreach of America operated in Las Vegas for more than two months. Russell and his girlfriend took a packet of documents to the Las Vegas FBI office. The FBI confirms that it is gathering information about the case. http://www.8newsnow.com/story/2421595/investigation-into-trashed-voter

And on and on and on. No surprises there; given their and ALEC's concerted, OPEN efforts to suppress potential Democratic voters, I know they'll do just about anything to save this election.

(p.s., righties: don't like the sources? Prove them wrong...the stories can be found at numerous cites.)

What I find interesting is how when the GOP whinges about "voter fraud" the most they can find is single personal instances, but when one looks into THEIR doings, it's always widespread scale and institutional corruption.

Sorry kids, some individual dipwad voting in two precincts is NOT equal to mass photocopying signatures or forging registrations by the dozen - which isn't to say that doesn't happen on both sides of the line, but for crying out loud they've provided no viable EVIDENCE for their accusations.
As opposed to a plethora of hard evidence against them - I won't be forgettin poor wittle Thadpole any time soon.

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

I wonder what ever happened to the whole black box voting scandal? Because THAT was what swung Florida in 2000, and what swung six states in 2004. (Perped by Repubs)

Authorities are now looking into Sproul's organization and its work in several key states for more evidence of nationwide fraud, including California, Arizona, Colorado, and others.

Oh, and surprise, surprise - the girl caught on video in Colorado "only registering Romney voters" was working for Sproul and the GOP, which paid him more than $3 million for his efforts, including more than $650,000 from the Romney campaign.

Not bloody much, even Bev Harris gave up on pushing that, in favor of exposing obvious chicanery in podunk backwaters, maybe cause its just easier I guess - I do recall arrests in regards to the Ohio flakery though.

This particular bolus isn't goin away any time soon though, as the sheer scale of it makes it appalling.

Seriously, it's like comparing a serial killer to a brutal dictator - they're BOTH guilty, but it's the SCALE at which they are which is the issue, so any whining and fingerpointing by the GOP over statistically NEGLIGABLE incidences is just projection and spin.
