On Friday in Springfield, Ohio, Obama added the phrase: "Voting is the best revenge."

This , coming from a man who ALREADY is in office! If there's any doubt that Obama truly hates this country, that should erase the last of it, right there.

There's a reason why George Lucas chose ' REVENGE of the Sith ' as the title for his movie where the evil Sith wage their attack on the good guys. Revenge is based in hatred, fear, and is of the dark side of the Force.

'Return of the Jedi ' , however, is based in optimism, hope, and looking to the day when goodness will return.

Here's to the Jedi's return to the White House, and the rest of America as well.

So you didn't see it, huh?

That figures.

And cheating on one's wife, hell, that's a badge of honor to the Left. A 'private, personal matter', yes ?

As for the movie, it actually was quite fair.

But aside from the movie, there's evidence a plenty for Barack's hating of the USA.

In his own words, and in the company he keeps.

The movie isn't the issue of this thread. However, it wasn't ever " debunked ", as all it does is retell the life story of BHO. It makes no outlandish claims, states clearly that he was born in Hawaii, so any attempts to 'debunk it' are nothing more than frivolous , partisan nonsense.

Cite any " lies " from the movie, if you can. Any factual errors.

But as for the thread, the comment by a sitting President that fellow Americans need to go out to vote in order to get "revenge"... revenge for what ?

How is this healing, helping, or showing Hope ?

Problems with the film, as per AP:

Quote:

— D'Souza rightly argues that the national debt has risen to $16 trillion under Obama. But the film makes a passing reference to the growth of debt that occurred under Obama's predecessor, Republican George W. Bush, and does not address the 2008 global financial crisis that provoked a shock to the U.S. economy.

— D'Souza says Obama is "weirdly sympathetic to Muslim jihadists" in Afghanistan and Pakistan. He does not mention that Obama ordered the raid that killed Osama bin Laden and the drone strikes that have killed dozens of other terrorists in the region.

—D'Souza wrongly claims that Obama wants to return control of the Falkland Islands from Britain to Argentina. The U.S. refused in April to endorse a final declaration on Argentina's claim to the islands at the Summit of the Americas, provoking criticism from other Latin American nations.

—D'Souza says Obama has "done nothing" to impede Iran's nuclear ambitions, despite the severe trade and economic sanctions his administration has imposed on that country to halt its suspected nuclear program. Obama opposes a near-term military strike on Iran, either by the U.S. or Israel, although he says the U.S. will never tolerate a nuclear-armed Iran.

— D'Souza says Obama removed a bust of British Prime Minister Winston Churchill from the Oval Office because Churchill represented British colonialism. White House curator William Allman said the bust, which had been on loan, was already scheduled to be returned before Obama took office. Another bust of Churchill is on display in the president's private residence, the White House says.

The idea that voting is the best revenge against those who would keep you from voting? You really don't get the connection there? If there is one party, one group who is trying to stop others from voting, then turning out and voting is the best way to show them that you're not afraid, and won't be marginalized and disenfranchised.

So many straw men, so little time...

The movie was about Obama's life.

Apology tours to the middle East, ordering NASA to help make Muslim countries feel good about themselves... yeah, weirdly sympathetic applies.

Stating what a movie FAILS to mention doesn't make it a lie.

The bust of Winston Churhchill wasn't " already due to be sent back ". That right there is a bald faced lie. Please. Do better than that. The British were extremely surprised and put out by Barack's decision. That the AP is promoting the WH's spin on this issue, is laughable. It's PRAVDA laughable.

This surprises exactly who?

And yeah, I had to smile when I realized Rap didn't "get it" about voting being the best revenge against voter suppression and voter intimidation, which is cheerfullyk raising its head across the country. It makes sense when you think about it, tho', given RWA's have the lion's portion of paranoia; I didn't read most of his posts, so I have to ask: Did he say what HE thinks "revenge" was supposed to be referring to? Not that it's impportant; I wouldn't be surprised if he thinks Obama is out to "get" him personally, at this point...

As to the mentioned move...I'd heard it existed and was some kind of anti-Obama tripe, but know no more about it, so I'll check with those whose JOB it is to know such things. Well, Rotten Tomatoes gives it a 2.7 "as determined by the reviews of 29 critics", so I think I'll pass, thank you. Propaganda is bad enough, but BAD propaganda presented as BAD entertainment isn't for me. Not too many NON-right-wingers seem to have much good to say about it.
Quote:

“I’m not trying to bash Obama in a crude way,” Dinesh D’Souza says in a TV news clip featured in the conservative writer and commentator’s new documentary “2016: Obama’s America.” It’s a comment recycled from one of D’Souza’s many media appearances in defense of his well-known, earlier attacks on the president, both in a controversial 2010 Forbes magazine cover story and two subsequent books, on which this film is based.

D’Souza’s documentary profile of President Obama -- which is like his earlier writing attempts to portray its subject as not just anti-capitalist but anti-American -- is just that: a slick infomercial. It’s a textbook example of preaching to the choir.

D’Souza, who narrates the film with the buttery smoothness of a therapist, intersperses talking-head interviews with footage of himself poring over Obama’s memoir “Dreams from My Father,” like a psychological detective, while visiting Indonesia, Hawaii and Kenya. As readers of the Forbes article know, the central thesis of “2016” is that Obama’s worldview -- his “compass,” as D’Souza calls it -- was largely shaped by the anti-colonialist, anti-white and anti-Christian politics of Obama’s supposedly radical Kenyan father. Never mind that Obama, growing up, spent precious little time with the man, who for most of his son’s early life was estranged from Obama’s mother. D’Souza trots out a professional psychologist to speculate on how the senior Obama’s absence reinforced his influence, rather than weakened it.

D’Souza makes it all sound almost plausible, but only if you’re predisposed to believe that Obama hates America. It’s bashing, all right, but with a velvet-gloved fist.

Why is the film called “2016”? D’Souza’s one-sided argument ultimately stoops to fear-mongering of the worst kind, stating in no uncertain terms that, if the president is reelected, the world four years from now will be darkened by the clouds of economic collapse, World War III (thanks to the wholesale renunciation of our nuclear superiority) and a terrifyingly ascendant new “United States of Islam” in the Middle East. These assertions are accompanied by footage of actual dark clouds and horror-movie music.

“2016” the air of a “Nightmare on Elm Street” sequel, pandering to the franchise’s hard-core fans, while boring everyone else. http://www.washingtonpost.com/gog/movies/2016-obamas-america,1230760/c
ritic-review.html

Owen Gleiberman of Entertainment Weekly called the film, "A nonsensically unsubstantiated act of character assassination". Ben Mankiewicz stated, "I think [the film] is another reminder of how many people in this country find Obama so shockingly unlikesome that they are seemingly ready to believe the most nonsensical theories about him." Beth Fouhy of the Associated Press questioned some of the film's points and said its central thesis that Obama's presidency is an expression of his father's political beliefs, "is almost entirely subjective and a logical stretch at best". In the Washington Post, Michael O’Sullivan described the movie as "fear-mongering of the worst kind". Bill Goodykoontz of The Arizona Republic said it was "preaching to the choir" in a style similar to Michael Moore's films, but without the humor, straw men, and views from the other side. Christian Toto from the website breitbart.com, praised the production quality of the film. He described the film as "clearly a conservative's effort to explain the president's actions while cautioning against a future in which Obama is unchecked by political reckoning".

Good gawd, similar to Moore without the humor and views from the other side? Given I refuse to see any of Moore's hit pieces, why would I want to see one that's WORSE?!

Unchecked by political reckoning, eh? How exactly would one person, one President, run amok "unchecked", I wonder?

This was almost more funny than the fact that Rap (of course) swears by the film:
Quote:

Laughable ‘2016: Obama’s America’ Assumes You’re an Idiot

If the Koch brothers have proven anything over the last several months, it’s that money speaks louder than the truth. Facts may not be for sale, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be buried. At a time when more information is available to the general public than ever before, an alarming number of Americans are content in remaining blissfully uninformed.

The 90-minute propaganda stunt, “2016: Obama’s America,” banks on the assumption that audiences are idiots. How else to explain its crackpot corroboration of unsubstantiated gobbledygook masquerading as an incendiary examination of the 44th U.S. president? The film isn’t really about Barack Obama at all. It’s about author/co-director/narrator/star Dinesh D’Souza and his own warped view of America, which seems to exist entirely within an alternate reality completely detached from our own. Perhaps the man has a future in science fiction.

In D’Souza’s America, racism is a thing of the past, an argument that he proudly expressed during a debate with Jesse Jackson. Since “2016: Obama’s America” is built entirely on white America’s fear of “the other”—fear of Muslims, fear of anti-colonialists, fear of “card-carrying Communists,” fear of presidents with the middle name Hussein—D’Souza’s sentiments make him palatable to even the most extreme closet racist, despite being a “man of color” himself. With his laughably self-important professorial shtick, D’Souza has the posturing of a scholar but not the intellect. Since the majority of his film is devoted to a preposterously doom-laden interpretation of Obama’s 1995 memoir, “Dreams from My Father,” D’Souza skims so quickly over his own criticisms regarding Obama’s presidency that he leaves little time for the audience to absorb them.

Maybe this was a conscious decision on the part of co-director John Sullivan (who helmed the equally inane Ben Stein doc, “Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed”), since there isn’t an ounce of truth in any of his claims. To support his argument that Obama inherited the anti-colonial beliefs of his father, D’Souza points out that the president removed a bust of Winston Churchill, the poster boy of British colonialism, from the Oval Office. He fails to mention that the bust was scheduled for removal before Obama even took office or that another bust of Churchill indeed remains in the White House. D’Souza’s claims about Obama’s policies regarding Iran’s nuclear program and the Falkland Islands are transparently false and are immediately destroyed by the slightest bit of research, which the author clearly expects his target audience to avoid.

One of the funniest aspects of the film is how every member on D’Souza’s panel of extreme right wing experts are credited as “Dr.” Even the pull-quote on the back of the film’s DVD case is credited to a doctor, namely Dr. Ted Baehr of Movieguide.org, whose organization’s stated mission is to “redeem the values of the mass media according to biblical principles.” It’s little wonder that the good doctor has pointed his holier-than-thou thumb toward the heavens for D’Souza’s film, since it was distributed by Rocky Mountain Pictures, which specializes in bargain basement dreck targeting conservative Christians (such as “End of the Spear” and “Atlas Shrugged: Part I”).

From its hideously pedestrian score and hokey editing to its hilariously staged sequences of dour scholars barking prophecies over the phone while being slickly photographed from every angle, “2016: Obama’s America” is the very definition of amateur hour. It makes Michael Moore look like Errol Morris and the Republican party look like a league of gullible lobotomized slackjaws. There are a thousand credible ways that a filmmaker could go about criticizing President Obama’s first term in office, but D’Souza isn’t interested in facts. He’s not a scholar but a delusional, Ann Coulter-type conspiracy theorist appealing to the most fanatical sect of right-wingers, a group that the Republican Party has apparently decided to court as its base. Liberals are bound to laugh derisively at every frame of this picture. It’s conservatives who should really feel offended.

“2016: Obama’s America” is presented in its 1.78:1 aspect ratio, accompanied only by English subtitles, and includes no extras, which is no surprise considering that the film was available in every video store immediately after playing for months in wide release. The entire production reeks of Super PAC money, which has been spent with the same sense of mounting desperation that Republicans displayed by blocking every piece of Obama’s legislation that may have actually aided in repairing the nation over the last four years. How else would the lobbyists in Congress be able to blame Obama for the America’s dire state, while assuring their special interest groups that ungoverned corporate privilege will continue to be granted? Just as D’Souza assumed that his audience won’t bother conducting their own research, the Republicans are assuming that their voters won’t bother researching their current candidate for president, who appears to change beliefs as if casting off last week’s outdated fashion. All that’s missing from this witless exercise in contrived fear mongering are the words, “I’m Mitt Romney and I approve this message.” http://www.hollywoodchicago.com/news/20454/dvd-review-laughable-2016-o
bama-s-america-assumes-audiences-are-idiots

I don't think he liked it much... Oh, wait, the website is called "HollywoodChicago.com"--it must be some Chicago thug-style guy with Hollywood connections. That explains it!

This guy is perceptive...and he's apolitical and NOT at all pleased with Obama, as is obvious from "Obama has proven himself to be an opportunist who has reneged on nearly every populist campaign promise he made. And while moving about as far to the right as any Democrat can be, from invasions and assassinations abroad, to subsidizing bankers and an attack on civil rights at home. Along with a pro-corporate heath care plan mandating mass subsidizing of the medical insurance companies." He says this:
Quote:

But one key element of 2012: Obama’s America offers clues as to just how deceptive and misleading, not to mention crafty, D’Souza can be. Which by the way, has nothing to do with politics at all. And that’s his pretense of placing urgent cell phone calls to his investigators. Who will provide the big reveals that never incidentally, materialize.
So while D’Souza paces about on his cell phone, his helpers are actually being recorded by sophisticated camera and sound equipment but pretend not to be, as is D’Souza himself in fakery mode. And by all accounts, straight out of the seeing is not believing school of filmmaking.
The verdict on 2012: Obama’s America? Zero stars. Primarily because infomercials—and this one is hardly the first to be smuggled into movie theaters lately— don’t and shouldn’t count as actual documentaries. http://www.longislandpress.com/2012/09/27/movie-review-2016-obamas-ame

No, thanks. I'll leave it to our hard-core right-wing nutjobs to enjoy this one. I just can't get away from the vision of them, hunched over in the theater on the edge of their seats, leaning forward nodding and muttering "yeah, yeah, you got it", drooling slightly while shoving handfulls of popcorn in their mouths... Enjoy! Popcorn's gonna get more expensive, tho', and so are movie tickets. I'm sure that's Obama's fault; no doubt he'll do it to keep people from seeing this...what is it exactly, anyway? Can't be a documentary if it's got falsehoods, can it? I'm guesing D’Souza didn't INTEND it as a farce or fiction...so what?

Tit for tat got us where we are today. If we want to be grownups, we need to resist the ugliness. If we each did, this would be a better reflection on Firefly and a more welcome place. I will try.

I thought that was pointless theatrics, myself. Unnecessary, and I felt it took away from the substance of the discussion at hand.

It's not 'deceptive', so much as it is goofy.

Barack Obama's presidency has been an inspiration to many Americans—especially nutjobs. Ever since the first-black-president-to-be appeared on the national political stage, a cottage industry of conservative conspiracy theorists has churned out bizarro, paranoid, and just plain racist effluvia—some of which has trickled into the political mainstream. Below, we've charted some of the Obama-baiters best (i.e., worst) work. (Scroll down for more detailed descriptions of the conspiracy theories in the diagram.)

Okay, I have a question...

I keep hearing people talk about Barack Obama as being some kind of "anti-colonialist", and saying it in a derogatory way, as if it's some kind of insult.

Am I to believe that the conservatives in this country are strong believers in colonialism?

Are they completely unaware that "anti-colonialism" is the only reason the United States even exists in the first place?

Or do they honestly believe that anti-colonialism is good for white people, but bad for black people, because they NEED to be colonized?

I'd really like an honest answer to that. But I doubt I'll ever get one.

I reject the premise of the question.

Or perhaps I am not concered about Romney cause he's fairly competent and I'm too angry at President Obama for failing to protect the American ambassador in Libya, or for doubling my gas prices, or for throwing thousands of coal miners out of work, or for his unpatriotic (his words) budget deficit, or for the massive debt he ran up, or for the billions in wasted stimulas spending, or for the failure to meet his own expectations on economic recovery and unemployment, or for the hundreds of millions wasted on bankrupt green energy companies run by his contributors, or for the failure to build the oil pipeline, or for the failure to secure Brazilian oil contracts, or for the failure to reach a status of forces agreement with Iraq forcing us to turn tail and run and leaving Iran a clear path to ship weapons to Syria that are killing Syrian civilians, or for his failure to support Isreal, or for his failure to stop Iran's nuclear development, or for his failure to bring down health care costs, or for the $3000 more families are paying each month in taxes, fees and higher prices, or for his lavish White House parties, or for his fundraiser in Las Vegas as the details of the Libyan crisis was unfolding, or for getting those details wrong, or for imprisoning the fella that made the video, or for Fast and Furious, or for failing to fire Eric Holder for a LOT of reasons, or for touching my junk bro, or for all those cold and hungry people in New York and New Jersey, or for stealing from Medicare to fund Obamacare, or for inuslting Poland, or for promising to be flexible with Russia, or for pursuing a reckless withdrawl policy in Afganistan that is rushing unvetted Afgans into service who are then turning their weapons on our troops, or for failing to provide proper support for our returning vets, or for apologizing for American values, or for bowing to every foriegn leader he could find, or for revenge...cause voting is the best revenge.

So, are you saying Iran does NOT want nukes, or that Iraq DID have WMD ???

Both ? Neither ? Which ?

Little Wappy, I'll spell it out for you, Iraq had no WMD at the time we blasted them, and Iran has no nukes. I'm sure they'd LIKE to have 'em, but they sadly don't. And if we try to tell them they can't have nuclear power, then we're back in the middle east fighting again, but then you & yours seem to like going to war so very much...

I'd expect you to be in a better mood today, Chrissy. So you think the minute we started the Iraq war,Saddam had NO WMD in country? Fair enough.

As for Iran, hasn't Obama even said that he'd keep them nuke free ? Or did I dream that one up?

Problem is, Iran has SAID it wants only nuke power, but has taken steps to make sure the by-product of that power yields material for nuclear weapons.

And it's one thing for the little nut-job to go purchase a suit-case bomb from KAOS or SPECTRE or what ever, but to fulfill their Holy Jihad play book, THEY really do need to show the world they can do it on their own.

It's not enough for them to just wipe Israel off the map, they have to do it the right way.

They're just centrifuging Uranium. It's not like they have the tech to recycle any power plant by-products for plutonium, and they don't have near the number of centrifuges or the quality of centrifuges to get weapons grade stuff.

They're struggling to even get a good enough ratio for power plant grade uranium. We're taking them barely almost at a level of 3.5% enriched Uranium, compared to the 90% they'd need for a bomb, and it would take an exponentially greater amount of effort and investment for them to get there. Far cheaper to just BUY a nuke from Russia as was already stated.

Not to say they couldn't, but I'm really not particularly worried about it.

Did Rap ever grasp the fact that Obama was talking about revenge for voter-suppression, or is he still gallantly clinging to whatever he THOUGHT it meant...which I'm still waiting to learn, ro did I miss something? What precisely is Obama supposed to be having revenge FOR?

Hello,

This is not a serious belief, but rather a quote that became a bit of a meme before memes were a thing.

In the Wrath of Khan, (Star Trek II) Khan attributes this quote to Klingons, somehow overlooking its terrestrial origins. In truth, it seems more like a Romulan saying, but I digress.

Quentin Tarantino later references this quote in the opening to one of his films. He attributes it, in a nod to Trek, to Klingons.

In these forums, the quote was used correctly in terms of context and inaccurately in terms of result.

There was no such revenge, cold or otherwise.

Why, exactly? Are we afraid they'd behave exactly the way we did when we got nukes?

Or are we just afraid that we'd actually have to talk to them instead of trying to bomb them or overthrow their government?

A nuclear Iran is absolutely no threat to me, and no greater threat to Israel than a nuclear Israel is to every Muslim in the area.

Classic Left wing distortion, Niki. One of the MANY blatant, outlandish lies this admin comes up with, leaving the hapless GOP struggling to how to even respond, it's such an absurd notion.

Voter suppression.
War on women,

Why even bother quoting Obama anyway? Hell, even when he IS quoted, in context, and accurately, he'll claim he didn't say it, or did, and the complicit cheerleaders from the MSM will cover for him, entirely.
