Hello,

Efforts against the much despised Westboro church are underway. Some are approaching the problem via sabotage of Westboro assets. Others are seeking ways to censor the group within the realm of law.

With Westboro promising to appear at the site of a recent tragedy and display their vulgar views, people are becoming tempted into suppressing speech in any way they can in order to lessen the grief of those who are mourning.

I'd like to surround them with hundreds of gay men and women in full-on dress-up mode - flirting with the Westboro folks and making out with each other. A few drag queens in full regalia would be a nice touch. Probably not appropriate for a funeral, though.

But really, unless they get listed as a hate group (and I'm kind'a uneasy about that precedent), counter-protests, blocking them from view of the mourners, drowning out their screeds with revving motorcycles and such are about all that can be done.

Certain people are so much fun to grief. I don't abide censorship but I enjoy me some jerkass comeuppance. Almost too much, really - so it's a good thing I'm not a Christian, they tend to frown on schadenfreude.

The lamentations of the truly awful are my cheese and WHINE. It's like drinking their tears from one of those beer helmets, so you have your hands free to clap and cheer and eat popcorn and throw the crunchy hard kernels at people.

Good point Geezer, we all seem to dispise what they do.
