IO9.COM - Joss Whedon recently finished filming the pilot for his new TV show, a spinoff of his $1.5 billion dollar movie The Avengers. And we're all expecting S.H.I.E.L.D. to rock, and to last at least year or two. Whedon's had a bumpy ride on his way to Marvel Universe supremacy, including more than a few wipe-outs. Here are some major setbacks Whedon's faced, and what he might have learned from them that would make S.H.I.E.L.D. better...

THESOMNAMBULIST

Thanks for that Haken. Interesting read.

I wonder though, is it better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all....?

As someone who has had projects shot down before they start, reading bellyaching from someone seeing success is, well, difficult.

I sympathise of course, it's Joss....

°...Well here I am.°

ZEEK

I don't know about those making shield better. It seems more like the theme of the article is that Joss doesn't learn from the past. He continues to run into the same roadblocks and never thinks to swerve until the paramedics are already declaring his project DOA.

Sadly the thing that might end up fixing the situation is Avengers. It may not be that Joss has learned his lesson but that the success of Avengers will remove the roadblock and put in a speed bump. The executives may give Joss a lot more leeway now that he's viewed as the golden goose. Hopefully that happens and shield is a good show. I know I'll be there on day one (yeah I'm assuming it's getting picked up even though that's not official yet).
