Quote:GOP Congressman Says McCain Is To Blame For Benghazi Several Republicans have blamed President Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for the terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya in September 2012. However, now Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) is claiming that fellow Republican Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) is also to blame for the terror attack, along with President Obama (audio below). Rep. Gohmert appeared on conspiracy theorist Frank Gaffney's radio show recently and the host asked him about Sen. McCain’s recent trip to Syria to support the rebels who are fighting the repressive Assad government. Rep. Gohmert agreed with Gaffney that Sen. McCain shared some of the blame for the Benghazi attack because Sen. McCain advocated U.S. aid to the Libyan rebels who overthrew terrorist and Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi Rep. Gohmert presented no proof to back up his claim that the same rebels who overthrew Qaddafi were the exact same people who are responsible for the Benghazi attack. "Yeah and then we know if it had not been for Sen. McCain and President Obama being for, what we knew at the time included al-Qaeda in the rebel forces then we would still have a U.S. ambassador and three others alive today because Benghazi would not have happened," claimed Rep. Gohmert. "But by giving power to the rebel forces that included al Qaeda that brought that whole mess about and helped create problems in Tunisia and Algeria. So I’m not sure what to think about his going to Syria. If history is any lesson the people he met with he wants us to help should be very careful about what Sen. McCain’s support could mean for them." http://www.opposingviews.com/i/politics/foreign-policy/war-terror/rep-louie-gohmert-blames-sen-john-mccain-benghazi-attack-audio]
