Or a fundamentalist Baptist if he refused to deliver dance records, or to dance clubs, because his denomination forbids dancing? Or is it, as Mags suggests, only if the EEOC sticks up for a minority? Bearing in mind that a member of a majority group doesn't require sticking up for?

Quote:Originally posted by Kwicko: Then why did you (through your quoted article) feel it necessary to try to paint the judge as some kind of Muslim activist legislating from the bench? Your article, which YOU went out of your way to quote at length, describes the man as "the only Arab Federal judge in Illinois." It goes on to omit any mention of the man's birthplace, heritage, or background (his father was a sheriff, not a Sharif, and a state legislator, not a Sheikh). Also, the author goes out of his way to claim that "[e]very Muslim corner store I have ever seen sells alcohol, alongside smuggled cigarettes and lottery tickets." I wonder how he knows every Muslim corner store he's ever seen sells "smuggled cigarettes". It seems a pretty baseless accusation to make - one based entirely in xenophobia and stereotyping. Or is it that my question bothered you because it poked at your (and the article's author's) prejudices about people with Middle-Eastern-sounding names? What do you actually know about the judge in question, seeing as you're so willing to taint him with the dreaded "Arab" moniker?

If you want to speculate on hypothetical scenarios I suggest you research them yourself or start another thread. Well I simply don't understand how this is somehow Obama's fault. I can see how you might disagree with the ruling. I have issue with people being employed and not doing their jobs for religious reasons, I think you need to find a job that fits in with your practise, or clear it with the employers first ie Nurse unable to hand out contraception makes that clear or chooses another role when unable to comply. But I don't see wht this particularly ruling is the responsibility of Obama or Obama Inc whatever that may be, so you'll either have to provide more evidence than he appointed the judge - because last time I checked, judges don't run their decisions by the president.

Nice try at burying this thread beneath an avalanche of bullshit. Makes me wonder what you're afraid of, though. "I supported Bush in 2000 and 2004 and intellegence [sic] had very little to do with that decision." - Hero "I was wrong" - Hero, 2012 Mitt Romney, introducing his running mate: "Join me in welcoming the next President of the United States, Paul Ryan!" Rappy's response? "You're lying, gullible ( believing in some BS you heard on msnbc ) or hard of hearing."
