d-Not-break-Even-One-of-Four-Obama-Scandals

Fact: Over the past few weeks, four major scandals have broken over the Obama administration, and it is a very sad (and frightening) truth that our pathetic, American, lapdog mainstream media are not responsible for breaking even a single one.

Verizon? Nope, not our guys. That was the Brits over at The Guardian.

IRS? Nope, not our guys. The IRS broke their own scandal with a planted question.

The Justice Department's seizure of Associated Press phone records? Nope, not our guys. Believe it or not, the Associated Press didn’t even break that story. Like the IRS, we only found out because the Justice Department outted itself in a letter notifying the AP of what it had done.

Benghazi? Are you kidding. With a couple of rare exceptions (Jake Tapper, Sharyl Attkisson) the media have spent the last eight months attacking those seeking the truth (Congress, Fox News)--not seeking the truth. It was the GOP congress that demanded the email exchanges concerning the shaping of the talking points, not the media.

Left up to the media, we wouldn't know anything about Libya. All of the media's energy was collectively poured into ensuring the truth was never discovered.

And what were the impeachment charges against Clinton again? The central issue? And with Nixon? Looking back, both impeachments now seem quite minor and petty when compared to the wide scope of political corruption involving abuse of power, conspiracy, and obstruction of justice that Obama is presiding over.

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

Well, as I recall the MSM was pretty tame with GW Bush, too, at least until Katrina. The NYT's Judith Miller pretty much wrote as gospel whatever crap the admin poured into her ear about WMD, no?

The MSM fails to address almost anything of importance, anyway. 99% of the MSM "news" is just a compilation of press releases from the White House to the town dog catcher. Plus the goriest story they could cull from the latest news cycle, plus one heartwarming story to balance out the blood, the weather, and lots of commercials. Very little investigative reporting. Good thing it doesn't represent the left.

Out of the first batch of 8 news items, 1 was broken by a rightard 'news' organization, 1 was broken by an independent blog and immediately picked by mainstream media, and 6 were broken by mainstream media or under its umbrella.

So the notion that somehow the mainstream (commercial) media are any 'easier' on Obama than they were on Bush, or that the rightard media is any better than the mainstream media seems sadly unsupported.

Do we need aggressive investigating and reporting? You betcha'! But the idea that one type of commercial media - who are in the business of selling ad space and time - is somehow better than the other is silly.

I IRS SCANDAL

a) targeting and harrassment of Obama's political critics and foes

On May 10, in advance of the public release of the audit findings, Director of the IRS Exempt Organizations division Lois Lerner answered what was later revealed to be a planted question by stating that the IRS was "apologetic" for what she termed "absolutely inappropriate" actions.

IRS To Tea Party: Sorry We Targeted You And Your Tax Status, Forbes, May 10, 2013

AP Exclusive: IRS Knew Tea Party Targeted In 2011, npr.org, May 11, 2013

As far as I know, Forbes is considered the "mainstream media", while NPR was only 1 day behind.

b) release of confidential donor information of Obama critics to his allies

Earliest mention, 13 May The Daily Caller. But that was a reiteration of an uninvestigated and unconfirmed claim by NOM. And despite NOM filing a lawsuit - which was an actual new item reported by the mainstream media - all the claims are still just that - merely claims.

c) $ 50 million spent on 220 conferences at resorts in two years w/ $3,500 a night luxury rooms and swag bags for attendees

Earliest mention "New watchdog report details 'excessive spending' by IRS
Washington Post (blog) - 6 days ago" google news

d) $ 90 million in bonuses given out to IRS officials in two years

Earliest mention "Despite President Obama's Optimism, No Quick Fix Likely For IRS
TIME (blog) - May 17, 2013" google news

II JUSTICE DEPT. SCANDAL

a) seizure of AP phone records and e-mails

Earliest mention "The Justice Department Secretly Seized AP Phone Records — on a ... The Atlantic Wire - May 13, 2013" google news

picked up the next day by mainstream media

"AP calls government's record seizure a 'massive and unprecedented ...
NBCNews.com - May 14, 2013" google news

b) seizure of Fox News phone records and e-mails

oddly enough FOX was not the place that broke this story, it was newsmax

earliest mention "Judy Miller: Seizure of Fox Reporter's Records 'Overly Broad'
Newsmax.com - May 20, 2013 The targeting of Fox News reporter James Rosen by the Justice Department is a "new interpretation'' of the nation's 1917 espionage law that goes "far beyond ..." google news

c) attorney general lying under oath to congress

there have been so MANY claims - NONE verified as far as I know - that this is not able to be specifically researched

Actually, it was perjury, for which he lost his license to practice law in Arkansas, but never mind the details.

Yeah, that's a SERIOUS charge you got there.

It was.

Clinton lied under oath, and in a civil case concerning Paula Jones. He presented false information on multiple occasions.

No, genius. He literally DID lie, under oath, and was subsequently found guilty, and punished.

Judge Finds Clinton in Contempt of Court

A federal judge yesterday held President Clinton in contempt of court for giving "intentionally false" testimony about his relationship with Monica S. Lewinsky in the Paula Jones lawsuit, marking the first time that a sitting president has been sanctioned for disobeying a court order.

In a biting, 32-page opinion, U.S. District Judge Susan Webber Wright of Arkansas said Clinton gave "false, misleading and evasive answers that were designed to obstruct the judicial process" in Jones's sexual harassment lawsuit. She specifically cited Clinton's assertions that he was never alone with Lewinsky and that he did not have a sexual relationship with the former White House intern.

Clinton Perjury Allegations

By Peter Baker
Thursday, September 24, 1998; Page A14

Independent counsel Kenneth W. Starr's report to Congress alleged that President Clinton committed perjury, obstructed justice, tampered with witnesses and abused power. Of the 11 counts laid out by Starr, five allege that Clinton lied under oath in his Jan. 17 deposition in the Paula Jones case and again in his Aug. 17 grand jury testimony.

And how does little rappy spell Paula Jones?

Tell me about it.

Kiki apparently believes that posting "2+2=4" and saying "Look. Two plus two IS five" enough times will make it so.
