If this woman had a gun, she'd not have had to endure this.

Door locked, at home, with her 3 year old. Thug breaks the window, and the beating commences.

She's lucky she wasn't raped, killed.

Dirt bag still at large.

Is anyone surprised that Rappy is presenting a hypothetical as a fact?

"If this woman had a gun, she'd not have had to endure this."

I could as easily say "If this woman had a gun, she'd have been shot with it."

Statistically, I'm far more likely to be correct than you are.

Good to see that Kwickie is on the side of the women beating house invader here.

( Anyone surprised ? )

If she had a gun, with the knowledge and means of USING that gun, and this piece of human debris would be at room temperature now.

But, since you think guns are the problem, and not thugs who beat women, this is the world where you'd have everyone live.

She should have just called the cops, right ?

Thanks.

For one how do you know she did not own a gun? Just because a person owns a gun does not mean they have it on them 24 hours a day. You don't know that she would have had time to go and get the gun and stop the attack. As was pointed out the women could have been shot with her own gun. Her child coudl have as well. There is just as much chance for a worse outcome as there is for a better one if you add a gun.

Excellent point, that.

Especially considering that she has a very young child, as a responsible gun owner, she would have had that gun secured away.

Otherwise, she might soon have been one of the unfortunate, deeply irresponsible former parents mourning the tragic death of a toddler who found her gun.

I like the hidden camera covertly built inside an ordinary appliance. A black convicted felon who spent 10 years in fed prison stole my hidden camera from my dad's apartment this week while stealing $400,000, so I had a deputy sheriff standing in the living room hand on Glock ready to blow his head off if he walked back in the door (but he fled after kidnapping my dad). I prefer to have cops do my hits for me -- less paperwork for me.

I know Jersey very well. Having, owning, buying, carrying a gun (LEGALLY) there is impossible. Doesn't stop the criminals, or the cops having them (much of the time, they are the same thing).

So, NO. She didn't have a gun. YES, she DAMN WELL SHOULD HAVE.

But hey, NJ is a libs paradise. Like NYC.

THIS, folks, is what the democrats want for the entire country.

Isn't it time they got LEFT behind?

Bang on, Nick. Hypotheticals are irrelevant, as is Rap's entire point. Statistics have shown quite clearly that having a gun in the home is no guarantee of safety, but raises the chance of accidental death or suicide. He has no point.

Your "statistics" have been disproven... anyone who cares to look up the true one, can do so. Just google it.

You post your parties line, no matter what. How you sleep at night.... its a mystery to me.

I sleep fine at night, but then, I'm not filled with anger and hate, and don't spend all my time here vilifying and attacking others.

I pay both mine and my husband's bills; he pays everything else. We live cheaply and aren't extravagant. I'm 65, I worked my entire life from the age of 16, put money in two 401k's and a retirement account, husband (now 75) did the same, we paid off our home over ten years ago and we're both retired. You obviously have a problem with honest people doing things the honest, hard-working way, since how I spend my time now is suspicious to you.

You're very sad.

A dog is probably most useful at preventing home invasion and burglaries. Most criminals are cowards, so unless you are being targeted by hit men (in which case, get yourself a gun), you'll prevent anyone from entering your premises if you have a dog that can bark.

My chap has a ferocios bark, but a lovely temperament. Sounds nasty but is nice. I feel safe with him around.

...and the same would have happened had the women had a gun. Unless she was sitting there with it at the ready, which is fantasy, she does not get to the weapon before her attacker is on her. So literally she would have had a loaded weapon with her while watching cartoons with her child.

I also said I would take "the beating" indicating the one she took. The one in which her children were not harmed. Things might be different in a different situation. However in this one a gun does not make the situation better in any reality based scenario. Had the thug found her gun he may have used it on her and her children. In this situation a gun only has the potential to make things worse.

I read the stats. Women are most likely to be killed/physically assaulted or raped by an intimate partner or someone known to them. So having weapons in the house actually heightens risk to women, not lowers it.

Niki - I just want to reiterate something - you can always scroll. I took an inventory the other day of my memory of the posts I've read by the right-wing trolls. And I honestly couldn't think of a single one of them where I thought - I would have been sorry to have missed that. They're so stupid, and so predictable ... and really lame. But I don't think about that a lot anymore, I mostly accept it's just how it is, and I do ignore a lot of threads and several peoples' posts.

Well, I have a high tolerance for a lot of things, except boredom. The difference between then and now is it suddenly occurred to me that I have not read a single thing - not one - from any of them in all these years that informed me of anything interesting in any way. And they suddenly became totally boring and completely useless to me. Maybe you could find some benefit from that perception.

I agree; I had noticed that a while back, and it's why I don't bother to read a lot of threads anymore. I already know what they will be, and they're not informing me of anything.

I try to find stories to put up of actual NEWS every day--harder to do with US media than others, admittedly, and most of ours repeat the same thing, and opinions on the same thing, and "more information" on the same things. I realized some time ago that our righties are focused pretty exclusively on their ideology, so I'm extra grateful for others who put up actual NEWS I wasn't aware of.

I HAVE read stuff, just off the top of my head from Rap, that was of interest and non-political in nature, but it's pretty rare.
