While I disagree with him on many things, in this he has a point:

Bill Maher once again shows the inconsistency of Conservative Republicans on an issue. This issue however can be life or death and life changing. While is the wrong messenger, Right Wing Conservative would never listen to him, he puts a message out there that many can frame to help effect change in the minds of many.
Quote:

Besides the heroic Wendy Davis, there were two stories in the news this week dealing with teenage sex. … One story was about Plan B, that’s the morning after pill that the FDA says it’s safer than Motrin that every American can buy over the counter. … And because it is a birth control pill it will prevent abortions. …

The other story was about the vaccine for HPV. Which is the STD that leads to cervical cancer and how that vaccine since its introduction in 2006 has reduced teenage infections by 56%. All good news, right? Wrong! …

Tell me why Conservatives always couch their objections the HPV vaccine in Parental Rights. But never complain about other state mandated vaccines. … Republicans actually think this vaccine encourages girls to have sex.

But studies have been done on this and girls who get the HPV shot become no more sexually active than girls who do not. … One in three 16 year olds in America are having intercourse. To deny them access to the vaccine or Plan B as a means of preventing them from doing it is like not giving them an umbrella so it would not rain…

Plan B again is not an abortion pill. Quite the opposite. It’s a dose of hormone that prevents ovulation. … If Republicans were really pro-life, they would endorse making Plan B free to women everywhere.

There are times when it is pointless to attempt to talk to someone that is so ideologically entrenched that they refuse to go over the real science. However it must be done. One must remember these are the same folks that claim they want government out of citizens’ business yet they want to control who you can and cannot marry, who you can and cannot sleep with, and sadly they support the death penalty for the born even as they fight for the unborn fetus.

Denying young women Plan B or the HPV vaccine is an ideological move that would ultimately kill a percentage of those following the tenets of the ideology. It is imperative that one frame Right Wing Conservative ideology honestly with the narrative that graphically details the outcome of its adoption. Only then will the vast majority of Americans get it. http://egbertowillies.com/2013/06/29/bill-maher-to-right-wing-conserva

Who's NOT surprised that Viagra would be at the top of rappy's priority list?

No one? Yeah, thought so...

Well, who's NOT surprised that Rap could only come up with something totally inane and having nothing whatsoever to do with the subject at hand to post anyway? He's not here to "discuss", we all know that, he's only here to snark and troll anyway...

Keep telling yourself that Niki. Say it enough times, and it may come true!

Oh, wait. That's what you ALWAYS say, but it's still not true.

Oh well.

While I agree in principle, firmly so in the case of access to plan B....

I have not forgotten both the fact of the extreme risks and lack of effectiveness of most HPV "vaccines", cause I'd like to see if that supposed percentage isn't of the same sort used to class Gardasil as "safe" despite its proven lethality - it's one thing when the risk is 1-in-10000 or so, but you start getting into the very high numbers such as Gardasil it becomes a bit more russian roulette, especially when several independent studies have opened severe questions about its effectiveness and exposed some pretty blatant screwery in the approval process, such as using an adjuvant laden "placebo" to cause substantially more reactions so that the spike in adverse reactions looked a LOT flatter than it should have in the trials, which in combination with unethically small sample sizes and virtually NO research into longterm effectiveness or safety amongst the target market age group... well.

I prefer informed choice, and it would be a lot more honest to tell them - "This is a mostly untested treatment which only maybe protects against four kinds of HPV, might give you HPV, oh and has a 1-in-150 chance of crippling you or killing you outright"

Also worth remembering a conservative shithead with serious conflicts of interest, that being ole governor-goodhair Perry of TexASS, tried to make this garbage legally mandatory when it was making him money, despite the casualties piling up left and right - eventually in such numbers as to bear out my suspicion that there was something wrong with it and they were attempting to max out profits before that shoe dropped...

Something, might I add, which was viciously and bitterly debated here with the usual dismissive mockery, till the bodies started piling up... I've not forgotten it, and I know damn well others haven't either - and yes, I *AM* holding a grudge, cause those kind of out-of-hand dismissals resulted in one of my own paying the ultimate price, and the saddest goddamn part of it was her own fucking close family abandoning her rather than facing the fact that maybe they shoulda listened, and me being the only one to comfort her at all despite having to do so via her laptop, not much help that it was cause she just kinda gave up once her closer relations abandoned her, and how the hell you think I feel, having begged and pleaded with my nieces to stay away from this stuff and being brushed off, mocked and dismissed by all but one, and then having this horror of progressive Guillian-Barre/Neurological shutdown slowly kill one of them ?

Sorry, don't mean to get all preachy, Gardasil is a sore spot with me, for obvious reasons.... but if the individual wants to make an informed choice to accept that risk, then they ought to have the right to, regardless of how anydamnbody else feels about it - I just don't feel those risks have been properly assessed even now.
