Gates and Panetta Critical of Obama on Syria

President Obama’s first two defense secretaries criticized the administration’s handling of the Syrian crisis on Tuesday night and expressed skepticism about the chances that Russia will broker a deal to remove Syria’s chemical weapons

“When the president of the United States draws a red line, the credibility of this country is dependent on him backing up his word,”

“Once the president came to that conclusion, then he should have directed limited action, going after Assad, to make very clear to the world that when we draw a line and we give our word,” then “we back it up,”

Mr. Panetta said.

So he takes heat from those guys.... who cares? He doesn't.

So he takes heat from the AFL-CIO on Obamacare....who cares? He doesn't.

So he takes heat on NSA spying on all Americans....who cares? He doesn't.

So he takes heat on IRS going after his political opponents....who cares? He doesn't.

So he takes heat on the Benghazi deaths/election coverup....who cares? He doesn't.

And as long as most Americans continue to get their un-challenged Food Stamps, Obamaphones, Welfare checks, disability checks, extended un-employment checks, etc., no one is ever going to care. He indeed has transformed America as he promised he would five years ago. He can be as lame as any lame-duck president in history and it doesn't matter. The inept and gutless Republicans can whine until milk turns into cheese and it doesn't matter. The intellectual DC insider pundits can pontificate until their brains explode and it doesn't matter. The nanny state is here and it ain't ever going away. Half will work and pay the taxes, and half will live off the Govt.

As long as he's in office, the Hollywood and Left wing elites will adore and cherish him like a boy-God.

Their only criticism is that he's not already thrown all Republicans in jail and dubbed himself Caesar Obamus , Ruler for life.

And if he did, Boehner and the rest would each say "Thank you sir, may I have another?"

WASHINGTON - U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks, R-Huntsville, said today he would not support a military strike against Syria.

Speaking on the House floor today, Brooks called on President Obama to seek a "peaceful" solution to the crisis in Syria over the use of chemical weapons last month during the Middle East nation's civil war.

Obama has been pushing Congress to support a military strike against Syria.

"I reject the President's argument that the best way to keep Syrians from killing Syrians is for Americans to kill Syrians," Brooks said. "America has peaceful options. We should pursue them more vigorously."

Later in his speech, Brooks said, "I believe attacking Syria unilaterally makes matters worse, not better."

Figures that the day I do a little Boehner bashing he grows a set and announces that he's standing with House Teapartiers as well as Ted Cruz and Mike Lee from the Senate to defund Obamacare as part of any new budget and debt limit agreement. And only one day after Krauthammer said it would never happen. How embarraskin'!

But back to crying... I couldn't resist

Was 1989 that long ago? Jeeeez!

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

Both of these men are incredibly stupid, and apparently have never been effective parents. It's never a good idea to make silly rules that you can't or won't enforce. It's an even dumber idea to actually try and enforce them. The United States' "prestige" or whatever they want to call it would have suffered an even bigger blow had Obama done something stupid in addition to saying something stupid.

ALso, the Soviets have a pretty nice flotilla at the eastern end of the Mediterranean: Two warships, an intelligence-gathering ship, a fuel tanker etc. Between them it would have been impossible for the USA warships to launch Cruise missiles without the Soviets knowing, and the Soviets themselves have some some really nifty anti-ship and surface-to-air missiles of their own. The actual USA military command ... and not the Monday-evening quarterbacks ... assessed the situation and I think they realized that a "quick, limited strike in which USA military assets take no damage" was not in the cards, and (from what I remember reading) they advised against it. So good thing that Obama didn't let those boobs push him into a boobish mission!

Anyway, never fear. The USA never let a good disarmament stand in the way of toppling a government. The last two heads of state who disarmed- Saddam and Qaddafi- well, look what happened to them! So just like with Saddam, first The admin will say that Assad isn't going fast enough, or that he's disclosing incompletely, or that he's not gigving inspectors enough freedom to move, or whathaveyou. Next thing you know, our bombs (missiles) will be chasing the UN inspectors out. It's always possible to go back on your word, and make something out of nothing. We're pretty good at that!

I had to save this entire reply of yours, because it was so astonishingly absurd!

First, Gates and Panetta are " incredibly stupid " ? Really ? Because they dare to question your dear and fluffy lord, BHO ? Talk about a dutiful zealot!

* Either one of them has more international experience and knowledge on world affairs in their pinky toe than Obama will ever have in his clean, articulate body.

And they were speaking as former SECRETARIES OF DEFENSE. How the hell are you determining their " parenting skills " into the equation ? Seriously, this wasn't the week for you to stop sniffing glue.

Obama had done nothing. Which was stupid. Then he went and did something, which was really stupid. Because he followed that up by NOT doing ANYTHING, which was beyond stupid!

Oh, and only because he got his widdle feelings hurt, when everyone laughed at his 'red line' dare, did he feel the need to pile even MORE stupid on, and threaten to strike with an UNBELIEVABLY SMALL military response, which would have accomplished exactly NOTHING! ( It'd accomplish even less than trying to combat climate change by carbon credits! )

So, Sig, the whole point of what Panetta was saying is that you DON'T go out and made asinine 'red line 'comments if you're too much of a pussy to actually back them up. And if you think that carrying through with them is a really dumb idea in the first place, or MAY be, then DON'T FRELLING MAKE THOSE SORTS OF THREATS !!!

Push him ? ROFLMAO!! He was the one trying to drag EVERYONE to war w/ him and they all laughed at his amateur little face!! OMG , you're so frelling deluded about what is going on and just who your messiah is! It's truly remarkable! And as for the RUSSIANS ( I thought they stopped being " Soviets " back in the late 80's, though Putin is sure trying to revive their 'glory days', huh ? ) , it's never been a secret that they have a naval base in Syria, and are really buddy buddy w/ Assad. Hence THEIR interest in keeping him in power. DUH!

I sincerely hope that no one actually BELIEVES Putin will stay true to his word and deliver the WMD from Assad ( which he claimed he didn't have - sound familiar ? ) to the U.N., and all will be well w/ the world. Yes, there'll be delays. Break downs in negotiations. Failures to meet deadlines... this is all part of the process.

We got pantsed, on the world stage, and everyone is laughing at how UNBELIEVABLY SMALL Obama actually is, beneath his finely creased slacks.
