“I Want People to Have Health Care. I Just Didn’t Realize I Would be the One Who Was Going to Pay for It.”

“I was laughing at Boehner — until the mail came today,” Waschura said, referring to House Speaker John Boehner, who is leading the Republican charge to defund Obamacare.

“I really don’t like the Republican tactics, but at least now I can understand why they are so pissed about this. When you take $10,000 out of my family’s pocket each year, that’s otherwise disposable income or retirement savings that will not be going into our local economy.”

Both Vinson and Waschura have adjusted gross incomes greater than four times the federal poverty level — the cutoff for a tax credit. And while both said they anticipated their rates would go up, they didn’t realize they would rise so much.

“Of course, I want people to have health care,” Vinson said. “I just didn’t realize I would be the one who was going to pay for it personally.”

I bet this is just another "Joe the Plumber" whose name wasn't Joe and he wasn't a plumber. In the Repub playbook, if you can't find an "everyman" victim you just make one up!

"Covered California spokesman Dana Howard maintained that in public presentations the exchange has always made clear that there will be winners and losers under Obamacare."

In addition to higher premiums, deductibles are going way up too, meaning more out of pocket costs for the average person.

And full-time jobs are becoming part-time jobs.

The shit has only just begun to hit the fan. Should be at a critical mass by election time in 2014.

I'll betcha dollars to donuts that the "everyman" that is being pointed to didn't have health insurance at all. Of course, if you're paying nothing at all for insurance, your rates are BOUND to go up!

So, thanks for that useless article.

In the meantime, I'm looking forward to 2017.

No, because I know approximately how much health insurance costs. Which leads me to conclude that nobody with any sort of health insurance could possibly be facing a $10,000 increase in premiums. Ergo, he had no insurance whatsoever.

Hate to break it to you, Sister, but the American Model is collapsing.....

My brother had brain surgery, three months of physical therapy and six month stay in a bed in the mid 80's for 100k.

If you're lucky today, they might remove a cancerous gonad for that much money if you sleep it off at home.

Obamacare is the only thing I believe in with this generation of Presidential Idiocy.

Would have paid for it anyways. Let's get some government officials in there to figure out why an Advil costs $50 bucks to those with money or insurance???

Or, more likely, they earn (a lot) over $200,000 a year. Jongs, I would like to see data on the rise in premiums for some people, not just anecdotes?

It's not personal. It's just war.

Well, that one is EASY (Chargemaster, it's a long story*) but in practice all they need do is wait till they get it rolling and the GOP conveniently starts screaming about the cost despite *NEVER* doing so for Corporate Entitlements...
And then sic George Miller of the fucking OMB on them, which will be completely friggin epic, cause he's as ruthless as they come and will take no prisoners.

And that is the major problem with the ACA. It does nothing to reduce the cost of medical care. It just makes more money available for the medical industry.
