What was I thinking posting about this in the RWED?????

These days, I don't know who is still in the General Discussions who would have known me before. I've been a member for about 8 years, but sadly most of that time has been spent in the RWED. I posted about this there because that's where I usually post. "Happy/Frilly" things are usually so out of my wheel-house that it's just a good fit usually.

This is something special though.

I won't rewrite things. I'll just post my two posts here for you to celebrate with me. :)

=================================

I just said my first words to my first Niece the other day.

For a slacker, that was more than somewhat cathartic...

She is a beautiful 8lb/3oz baby girl.

She has the darkest blue eyes you've ever seen but, sadly, the doctors say that in a year they'll be brown like mine. (From my experience though, doctors have known to be wrong before).

I've been riding solo for years now with nothing to really care about, but somewhere between hello and goodbye that little girl charmed the hell out of her Uncle. Most of the time she just slept, but when she woke up she stared right into my eyes while both of her tiny hands gripped my pinky and pointer finger of my left hand.

I really have a desire to pick up the Guitar again now. I'd love to be able to play music and show her how the old folks did it before auto-tune and dubstep.... ;)

Would love to watch her sing this while i played guitar one day... :)

TWO DAYS LATER.......

My family was busy snapping candid pics on Christmas Eve :)

I LOVE them! So much more real than stupid "say cheese" pics......

And now I can share with you the happiness I felt as I got to know my first Niece. :)

Just me, my niece and one of my favoritest dogs ever...... and The Leg Lamp!

"We're listening to the theme song form The Neverending Story again while posting this, aren't we other Jack?"

"Indeed we are Jack..... Indeed we are. ;)"

Things in general, for mostly everyone, are not copacetic these days. Take this time during the crappy cold winter months to appreciate what and who you do have in your life. You never know when either might be gone.

STORYMARK

Enjoy, Jack. My niece is a year and a half now, and is the highlight of my world.

"Goram it kid, let's frak this thing and go home! Engage!"

If I could impart one thought to my niece it would be this...

Wear Sunscreen....

Aside from this, listen to David Spade....

Been thinking a lot about all of this....

Loved what my girl Wish had to say..... Nickname. Something to razz the hell out of her when she's of age....

Here's the nickname I'll always call her by....

She'll get it, even if you idiots don't.....

"YB"

"YB?"

"YB!"

"Young Blood?"

"youth bitch-league that doesn't keep score?"

or maybe....

"You're Bright"

A man, a dog, and a baby girl resting together on a couch. It doesn't get any better than that...

Hehe! I know, right?

That's Kaylee. She's a beautiful half-beagle-half-something else. She's technically my bro and sis's dog, but that's only if you are counting the time when I'm not around. The minute we're in the same house, she's my dog :). Their first dog Leeloo was like that with me, but I think she's mad at me ever since Kaylee was around and I don't give her my undivided attention.

Gonna work my dog-whisperer voodoo on the niece too :)

Love the "Christmas Story" leg lamp in the background too. My daughter is 22 now, but still remember when we would stay up late on Friday and Saturday night watching movies and scary shows. You still have that coming, so enjoy them while they are still your biggest fan.

I'm really looking forward to it. I never had any sisters growing up. 5 boys......

She won't learn anything about being frilly or girly from me, but I think her mom has all that covered. Nothing wrong with a girl growing up and learning how to fix a flat or change her oil or even learn about some major and minor home fixes. After having averted two potential house wrecking problems that were on a tight clock, it won't hurt to throw a time-limit to the puzzle solving on top of it. .

Her mother has never seen The Goonies. Niece is going to want me to put that on anytime she comes to the house!

The Leg Lamp is AWESOME! I'd be happy if that was my only Christmas decoration.
