So, The Signal - as a podcast - has ended.

On a high I might add - podfading was *not* an option - we had a plan :-)

www.serenityfirefly.com

takes you direct to Season 10 (yes, 10) with, amongst other things:

The Last Show (the last regular size episode with all the usual Signal features),

The Last...Bonus Show (1hr 42 minutes of Firefly Online focussed goodies with articles, Feedback, interviews from QMx/Sparkplug Games, *Andrea Romano* (!!!) and whassername... Morena Baccarin :-)

and

Signal: The Movie (the biggest show we've *ever* done, nearly 4 1/2 hours of Firefly related goodies, reminsicence, new segments, old segments and a few surprises)

The (new) Signal Blog ( www.serenityfirefly.com/blog) will have some *exclusive* Firefly Online related interviews and content, discussions, feedback, ocassional articles and stuff, just not a regular podcast anymore (but all past content - 10 years worth of hour long podcasts in approx 250 shows - will remain available)

Sending a Wave continues to bear the Firecast torch, and more power to them!

It's been quite a ride :-)

Nick

America loves a winner!

I want to offer a big thank you to all The Signal crew. It was truly an amazing and enjoyable run.

I learned so much more than I ever would have, and it was really great to hear others pour their passion and love for the BDH, time and time again. Great interviews, stories and I even got to see Les at the pre-screening of Serenity !

A fine bunch, no doubt about it!

I hate to say it, I thought it ended a few years ago. D'oh!

I guess I have some catching up to do!

Yes, it has. I'm a recent (more or less) arrival to Firefly & Serenity. I have been makin' my way steadily through the Signal episode by episode, season by season.
I'm currently listenin' to season 7 Ep. 13.1.
When I found The Signal I told myself I was gonna listen to each & ev'ry Episode. Great And Awesome Shiny Stuff.
When I saw on the feed the Ep. 10 was titled the Last, I thought. of All the listener feedback I've heard & now I won't be able to write or send a "voice-wave" of my own.
Just listenin' to you (or those)folk who worked on, at, with, & together on it made you friends.
I'm still flyin' & have every intention to.
After I get through The Signal I'm gonna start on Firefly Talk.
No Shortage of The Verse for me anytime yet.

Yes Sir, the End of an Era.
As all things do have an end, sadly.

Oh Firefly Talk is a goldmine of con recordings and all sorts of stuff - you won't be dissapointed. FFT was more or less a "sister" podcast to The Signal (we even shared a crew member or 2) as they covered more fan and con related material, whereas The Signal was more about written articles, analysis, speculation and review, plus audio drama on a bi-weekly basis for most of it's run.

Then there was Week In Whedon - that was fun - Does My Geek Look Big in this? and of course Sending A Wave who are still going of course! (I've done the odd show with them as they are mates and the fan based focus of their format shows no signs of running out of material) and a whole lot of other 'casts that covered Firefly related stuff (some of the excellent audio dramas are still available through The Signal site - stuff like Old Wounds, Severance etc)

With the Signal blog getting going, there is still a way to feedback and chat with us and several of us will be active on there - and though it will not of course be the Signal podcast, we've just published the first *exclusive* Blog audio content - an in depth interview about Firefly Online with the game developers. Hopefully we'll be able to add more new content here and there over time, but we could no longer sustain things at the level they were for the Signal podcast itself without massively compromising on quality or frequency (and S9 and 10 got progressively shorter in number of shows for that very reason) and we decided to make a clean break, go out with a bang and not fade away (sadly FFT and many others did due to various reasons) and of course some of us wanted to move on to other things after 10 seasons and at least take a break (Broadwaves, a Signal segment spin off podcast is planned for 2016 and some of us will be back on board for that)

So, yes, still *plenty* out there to listen to and it's not that hard to set up a podcast these days, so if anyone is feeling inspired... :-)

Yup. They are still very much available. iTunes has all 10 seasons worth...Each & Every episode. So, I'd think if iTunes still has 'em then they've gotta be available else-wheres too.
Much Much recommend listenin to 'em if one hasn't.
As I was sayin' up there, I stared with Season 1 Ep. 1 and am now somewheres in the later part of season 7.
Great Great stuff, it is.
Kinda sad to hear the wishes & wants of the past & know from where I am now in the present that those wishes & wants were not to be (YET).
But Still Fantastic Stuff it Remains.

Hell...I may even havta give it All a 2nd round of listenin' ...

Oh don't worry, all the content will remain online for the forseeable future - we want folk to be able to refer back to this and for new listeners to discover the "archive" (I well remember my own discovery of the show and the desire to listen to the lot - of course, there was only a season and a half back then and by the time the next season came round, I'd somehow ended up on the crew....and yes that happened in a pub :-)

Thanks for the offer, but we've already got this well in hand with current hosting paid up for the next year and contingency plans to ensure that the shows and material are always available. (We'll want to keep a lot of the infrastrucure available for Broadwaves in 2016 anyway. Or if Serenity II is ever announced - in that case, all bets are off and we'll be back :-)

We've been gradually completing the individual segments RSS feeds now that the regular show is finished, so you'l be able to selectively download the bits of the show you particularly like or are interested in - so you will be able to mainline the whole of Diary of a Companion, Serenity Speculation, The Shipworks, Badger's World , Borderline, Broadwaves, Firefly Technical Manual, How to Speak Chinese etc. Most RSS feeds are already done, but Diary and Badger's World have just been completed and are linked from the blog (serenityfirefly.com/blog) or the main site as for the others from the Series link.

Not eveyone is sticking around long term of course, but enough current crew are around that stuff will get done that needs doing and the blog is the place to get in touch and find new content here and there (like the QMx/Sparkplug Games interview all about Firefly Online) It's just getting going and we'd love your company.

Nick
