The 8th episode to be scripted and filmed. The 5th episode to be aired, the third of a 3-ep arc aired before Shindig and Safe. After this airing, Shindig was aired the following week.

Written by Tim Minnear.
The filming of this episode seems to have taken place when the very first episode was broadcast, being The Train Job on 20 September, 2002.

During the filming of Out of Gas, Gina was married to Lawrence Fishburne and they had their honeymoon during this time, hence the light line load for Zoe in this episode. I am not sure if I actually noticed before that they were married 2 days after Firefly's first broadcast.

I think my favorite scene for this episode may be Kaylee's "See there? I'm pointin' right at it" to Bester and Mal.
But there are many gems in this episode.

What are your favorites?

Haven't watched the show in a while. Is this the episode when they run out of gas?

Actually, no. They don't run out of gas.

Too many great scenes to single out one or two.

It's a fave with me because it's so emotional.

When the bad guys shoot Mal and attempt to take the ship, the boss says "You'd have done the same."

Mal says "You can clearly see that I haven't." He had a certain nobility that sometimes worked against him, which made him seem more heroic and sympathetic than most.

Then of course, there's this:

No.
It is the one where Zoe runs out of gas, and naps the whole time.

There are no limits here. Single out as many as you wish.

Now I am thinking of Jayne's shooting of his accomplice without a glance, was it Marco?

Edit:
Everybody dies alone was the scene I thought of when starting this thread, but I surpassed it in my mind.

And now Mutt999 points out the same scene that I referenced above, but different lines from it. Also excellent lines.
