There will be fire and brimstone and Earth will be destroyed!... in several billion years!----------------------------------------- "Well, so long Earth. Thanks for the air... and what-not." -Philip J. Fry

Well, that's what I think when I see articles about bringing it back

Take me to church...

Nathan reads fan-fic?

I'm always hopeful that it'll come back in some form or fashion. I think as long as you have Nathan Fillion - truly, if you have the captain - he can put the crew back together. Some new faces, some old faces, and get back in the air. I think Nathan pitched an idea once to me, and I think he actually got it from some fan fiction: Now, out in some shack on some forgotten moon somewhere, somebody comes and knocks on [Mal's] door and says, 'We need you.' And he answers the call.

Thanks for sharing this, Wishimay!

I've seen a number of different pitches for how to bring it back. Animation. "Next Generation." I kind of liked the idea of a Zoe spin-off for a while, where Mal abandons Zoe and child on a safe planet somewhere because he feels guilty about putting her daughter in danger but knows she'd never leave willingly (she becomes captain of her own ship, of course).

What I really want is for the show to have continued as it was, but with Book and Wash dead and the actors having aged, we can never really quite get back what we lost. I'm not sure what the ideal path forward would be. But for me, it's less about making sure you have Nathan/Mal and more about making sure you have Joss. Anything he could get behind, I'd get behind.

The way film/tv works, I feel like eventually someone will get the rights to Firefly and want to reboot. My fear is that it'll be someone who recognizes the financial potential in a dedicated fanbase but who doesn't really understand what made the show magical. The diehard Ghostbuster fans who were devastated by the recent remake? That could be us.
