Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this: while watching "War Stories" last night, it seemed like there was a lot of clipping in the dialogue track. (I.e., a harsh sort of "crackle" when somebody's voice gets loud.) It didn't seem to happen with the music or sound effects, so I'm wondering if this is a problem with the original dialogue recording and editing. Maybe the signal was recorded too hot (i.e., strong). I haven't noticed it happening with any other episodes, even on the same disc. I've played with various audio settings on the player, just to make sure it wasn't an equipment problem, but didn't make any difference.

Anyway, just curious if anyone else had experienced this. A good spot to hear it is Mal's and Wash's conversation while they're blindfolded, after being captured.

YT

the movie is not the Series. Only the facts have been changed, to irritate the innocent; the names of the actors and characters remain the same

Not clipping. But have you examined the disc?
After the first time I played Out of Gas, it started sticking. It got progressively worse on successive plays, until it just froze -- I had to eject the disc to get past that point. Upon examination, the disc had deep gouges. I tried buffing them out, which did fix the sticking, but may have muddied the sound.
I gave that copy away, and got another one. So far the new one exhibits no ill effects.

I hadn't noticed a sound problem until after I tried to fix the playback problem. But, my ears aren't that good. My first copy was shipped (by Amazon) on release day. My second copy shipped three weeks ago, & may be from a later run.

Thanks -- the disc looks OK, and there don't seem to be any problems reading it. It's a subtle and specific enough problem that it seems like it's in the sound recording itself, rather than in the data that's on the disc. I may be overreacting, and I'll have to try the disc on another player to see if I get the same effect.

Just curious if anyone else had noticed such a thing.
