He was one of the pioneers of hyper-partisan "rile you up and piss you off" "news" that has led us to a ceaselessly lying media that gives two completely different stories for every event that happens depending on the audience they cater to so they can sell car insurance and boner pills.

He got rich off of making people angry for decades, and now they're all getting rich off of doing the same thing. And it's never going to stop. This is our new normal.

Never really listened to him or anyone on the radio. I had lots of people tell me about Rush and other Conservative hosts on radio for decades, but I never had any desire to listen to one minute of that crap. My car radio listening is basically Radar Love and Patches.

I don't think it's fair or even accurate to blame Rush for what the media has become. He didn't start the shit; actually I believe he was just providing a traditional alternative to the ever-expanding leftist media which had enjoyed virtually unchallenged ratings dominance for decades until Rush carved out a little niche for himself.

Rush wasn't alone. If I came off that way, that's not what I meant to say.

But FOX News itself is another huge piece of that puzzle. Think back to how "boring" CNN was back before FOX news was a thing.

Now all any of them do is have flashy graphics, loud booming dramatic riffs, and tickers all over the screen subliminally planting ideas in your head as their multi-million dollar scum-of-the-earth talking heads tell you what to think in between commercials.

Rush WAS a big part of that. Rush's entire career was making people hate other people and has lead us to people like Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann and seemingly endless fake news propaganda websites like MotherJones, Vox and Salon on the other "side".

And at this point, it's never going to go away. It's only going to get worse.

I'm not saying Rush Limbaugh's a pedophile, that he's a fat old sweaty man who likes to have sex with children. But since he's the de facto head of the Republican Party, I think asking whether his personal conduct squares with his Party's 24/7 proclamations of standing at the top of the Moral High Ground is legitimate. Besides, his and like-minded persons' track-record, one cannot be blamed for wondering...

Three things worth noting and considering:

1. We all know that a great number of Über Conservatives maintain sexual impulses that range from the merely unusual, to howlingly weird, to the tragic & creepy. Why should Limbaugh be any different? Well? I mean just being a blowhard can't be the only reason he's gone through 3 wives, can it?

2. Sadly, the Dominican Republic has been a destination country for sex tourism. This is a matter of record. We know of at least one trip to the DR taken by Limbaugh wherein he packed Viagra, a drug used to make a man's otherwise flaccid penis hard in order to have sex. That trip occurred in June 2006, about a year and a half after Limbaugh's third divorce (note that attorneys had that court file Sealed. Why was that, Rush?). About 7 1/2 years ago a Harvard University report cited a study in which the DR as one of the Latin American/Caribbean nations where children were sexually exploited in and by the sex tourism trade:

"Casa Alianza, a non-profit advocacy group for street children in Mexico and Central America, estimates that some 5,000 street children in Honduras are involved in sex tourism. Similar problems exist in Paraguay, the Dominican Republic, and Venezuela. . . ."

Limbaugh took his Viagra to the Dominican Republic about 3 1/2 years after this report came out. From the abstract of a United Nations study:

"Included in the preliminary findings is a case study from yet another region, Latin America and the Caribbean. This case is included as an illustration of a coordinated effort to prevent and combat the sexual exploitation of children for the purposes of sex tourism in the Dominican Republic. . . ."

This is not a problem that's run its course in the DR. From a March 2010 article:

"The study, by law professor Benjamin Perrin from the University of British Columbia, found that the offenders – mostly men – usually travel from a rich country to a developing region such as Latin America, an area which is growing in popularity and replacing southern Asia as the main destination for sex offenders due to its low cost and close proximity. . ."

"In 2008, nearly 11,700 [global hotel giant] Accor employees were trained worldwide to recognize a typical high-risk situation. These training programs were conducted in Southeast Asia (Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Singapore), Africa (Ivory Coast, Benin, Senegal, and Cameroon), Europe (Austria and Switzerland) and in the Caribbean (Dominican Republic)."

3. While all of this may be circumstantial, it certainly makes Limbaugh's actions consistent with American/conservative sex tourists (see end of the article), even those who exploit children. What caused me to write this Diary, though, was Limbaugh's remarks yesterday, April 19, wherein he blamed the Oklahoma City bombing on, and railed against, Bill Clinton and Janet Reno for the raid on the Branch Dividian compound in 1993 without ever mentioning that it's freak leader, David Koresh, was, according to multiple accounts, a proud, unabashed child molester/rapist.

So, then, Limbaugh's a hard core, holier-than-thou conservative, just like the politicians and preachers who have practiced all sorts of wrongful and/or otherwise sordid sex acts. He travels to the Dominican Republic -- without question a sex tourist destination -- with Viagra. He's an apologist for child molester and cult leader David Koresh. Does this mean Limbaugh sexually exploits anyone, especially children? No. Is it consistent with a deviant who does? It seems that way to me. I don't know for sure, though. Wish Limbaugh would stop avoiding the subject, though.

Rush re-sculpted the landscape of Radio in America.

When he started, there reportedly were 200 Stations with Talk Format, and now there are over 4,000.

I suppose that one regret I might have is that, despite listening to him since October 1988, I never spoke with him, either on his call-in Radio Show, or off.

Fun fact: Despite Libtards constant efforts to have him boycotted and de-platformed, censored, they were never successful - and now they never will be.

However, the companies which did participate in boycotting him I will still continue to not patronize.
To bad a number of them, like Sears, managed to put themselves out of business already.
I still laugh that some who tried desperately to regain his good graces and return to his roster of sponsors, are still banned from running commercials on his time period - such as Sherry's Berries.

His 'formally nicotine stained fingers ' line was telling, he was considerably over weight and smoked. He stopped smoking and lost much of his weight, so 70 is pretty good, all things considered. I've known long time smokers to not last that long.

Wrong. I did listen to him. Every day for a few months when I was helping my mom and step dad in their shop years back. They were two of the angriest people I've ever known, and they'd bitch about all the problems in the country in real life like people do in the RWED here. They actually had stickers that said "It's okay to say Merry Christmas" on their cars. 365 days of the year.

I told them one day to just put music on and stop blasting bullshit talk radio all day long in their shop. Rush Limbaugh became a millionaire by pissing people off all day long, just like the assholes on the cable "news" talking heads did on the other side.

If you think for one second that pill popping cunt gave two fucks about you or anybody but himself, you've got another thing coming.

About 6 months later I was in the shop and the talk radio wasn't on. I asked my step-dad about it and he said that after our discussion he thought a lot about it and that I was right and they stopped cold turkey.

They were a lot less cunty after they stopped listening to Rush every day.

Fuck Rush. He's in the special hell now that is waiting for Rachel Maddow and Don Lemon.

I understand his radio show will continue. And his wife/coauthor said the Rush Revere books will continue as well, as they had always planned.

Today, again, I heard a news report that Rush had died last Wednesday. That is 6 days in a row that I have heard a news entry announcing his death.
I am trying to recall anybody else who had their death announced on news for 6 days straight. I come up empty.

He passed away with his show at it's peak of listenership, and it will continue beyond him. I don't recall that either. Jeopardy's Alex Trebek does come close, but that show was not invented by Alex, Started by Alex, pioneered by Alex.
