Thanks. This was nice. I see now that I had way underestimated bad. Nazi Germany isn't bad. Nazi Germany would be a vacation in a world where what's coming is hell. I can see that in her summarizing of the state of the world, we're headed to a really bad place. I appreciate her use of the sniffles, I used to call it that, need to go back to that, now that I have the sniffles, which does not actually come with any sniffles.

I live in a bubble of sanity that is normally unaffected, but now has within it a microbubble of insanity. Transgender new york city artists with their husband-husband household flying their rainbow flags and their BLM banners have come in and taken over the political system here, in the dead of night, creating secret councils that no one else can attend. And this is to take over a town of 200 people. I'm sure this is what's happening everywhere to install this radicalism

I've been feeling like that for a couple of decades now.

I keep asking "What are America's interests?" and I think the reason why I don't get a response is because "America" doesn't exist as a category anymore, in many people's minds. They see their fellow citizens as liberals or conservatives; or black or white or brown or yellow or red; or men and women and non-binary; as some creature so alien that they have NO overlapping interests with them whatsoever. Worse, they're not even interested in trying to find them.

If I were to ask "What are transgender interests?" or "what are the 'black community's' interests" I'm sure I'd get a full disquisition.

SECOND hates everyone who is Republican. Or who voted for Trump. Or who protested against the LIES foisted by the media against Trump (He hates the truth.) JO is convinced that RUSSIA! has taken over many of his fellow citizens. Another wedge issue is vax v. antivax. If you think the vax is useful, you're part of the depopulation globalist conspiracy agenda. If you think the vax is harmful, you're a selfish pig whodoesn't mind killing others for your convenience.

It's not by accident.

We in the west have collectively lost been made to lose our shit. Not by RUSSIA! but by our own Fearless Leaders who have sold us to whoever pays the most money.

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

I was noodling on this as I was doing yardwork.

Part of this is because people can be tribal. (I don't claim people are tribal, but they have the capacity.) And people can divvy up their tribes in many ways - by color, by class, by sex ... or whatever. To some extent, imo the people you think of as being in your tribe are people who resemble you in some essential way.

So it comes down to common interests, the most common of common interests is economic - or money or resources, however stated - which is basically about survival.

To me, for most people, the first most essential tribe is family however construed. And the second tribe is constituted to secure a common economic interest.

Anyway, after WWII the US was the only industrial economy left intact. It also still had its 'banana republics' and other corporate-run countries around the globe firmly under control. With an economy unfettered by global competition, and plenty of poor countries around the globe to exploit, life was good in the US. The vast majority of people were economically optimistic. (And if Black women were underpaid hotel maids and Mexicans were expendable cross-border 'stoop labor', the overwhelming sense of security in the rest of the population muted any economic unease of the few).

And most people, imo, really don't care about tribes if life is good. (There's always the die-hard malcontent for whom life will never be good enough to make up for some felt grievance. But I'm talking in general terms.)

But that didn't last long. Over many decades, manufacturing and other economic activities were moved from the US to countries with the cheapest labor. And there were fewer and fewer available weak impoverished countries around the globe to exploit, so it was harder for the US to export poverty.

Gradually, as the saying goes, the capitalist chickens came home - to the US - to roost.

I think you might see where this is going. People in the US were put in severe competition with each other for the essentials. It became important for tribes to define themselves as cohesive groups, to contend for survival. Anyway, to wrap this up, if you're substantively fomenting tribalism, it's pretty apparent you're on the side of the corporations. But that goes for both sides of the political spectrum. Both are accountable for their own tribalism: LGBTQX and MAGA, for example.

Corporate interests are why we're being divided and pitted against each other, and sold to the highest bidder, as Signy points out.

There's a certain level of personal responsibility to all of this too.

A lot of people who are wage slaves and are easily put in a position to always be on the defensive and have constant money worries didn't actually need to be.

People buy a whole lot of shit that they don't need. A lot of it on credit.

I tried looking at sydneywatson.com, like the vid said.
It says it will not communicate with my phone.

I guess she must not want to communicate with those who try .....

It was all about how her feelings of alienation suddenly came over her as she realized that we - as a nation- had drifted apart over trivial issues like non-binary gender.

I didn't listen to more than half of it, since it was mostly about her feelz; and sometimes you just can't communicate that feeling that you get when you're overcome/smacked hard in the head with a sudden realization. It's too subjective to pass along.

It's supposed to be subjective.

This is how a lot of us feel right now.

Oh, I get that. The problem is, unless you've felt that way yourself it's impossible to communicate.

Yeah. That's true. She also mentions that at some point in the video that some people will watch it and have no idea what she's even talking about.

She knows that she wasn't making the video for them.
