The scene in the bar where the Mudders are gathering around the guitar player, one of the mudders in the front row is wearing WHITE tennis shoes. White shoes in Muddertown would last about 2.3 seconds. Anybody else notice this?

We got you partially surrounded.

Well, they are certainly white - i think its too far away to make the determination that its tennis shoes.

However you are right it seems unlikely one would have so very white shoes for very long.

Perhaps they arrived on the weekly Jayday and he had put on his finest shoes :)

Now I have to go rewatch the episode (such a hardhip)
but I'm thinking that dried clay looks white on boots....
but I must actually rewatch and stop the DVD and inspect the scene closely....

There is a distinct difference between the tan color of the mud on his clothes and the white of his shoes. Athletic shoes probably would have been a better description.

On another matter, there is an episode (I forget which), Jayne is sitting in the dining room cleaning something small and round. I think he is polishing his money. Gives new meaning to the word "shiny."

The tennis shoes thing might just be a regional thing. Same idea, different name. Like crawfish, crayfish, crawdad, mudpuppy....

Not to nitpick, but. . .

Mudpuppies is a general name for neotenic salamanders (salamanders that keep their gills and stay aquatic their whole lives instead of metamorphosing into a terrestrial adult form). Crayfish, crawfish, and crawdads are freshwater crustaceans.

Bit of a diference there- I guaruntee.

But I wouldn't be surprised if they were both used in cajun cooking! ;)

Sorry bout that, you're right. I keep feeling there's another name that's not similar for the crustaceans, though.

Hmm, can't think of one off hand. Hushpuppies are as tasty as crayfish, but once again it's a false comparison. ;) But seriously, though, all nomenclatural nitpicking aside, your central point was valid.

YT

the movie is not the Series. Only the facts have been changed, to irritate the innocent; the names of the actors and characters remain the same

Except in New Zealand where a 'crayfish' is what I would call a lobster (salt water crustacean).

Actually, I think the term you're looking for is "mudbug" for a crawfish...

Getting back to the white shoes. I went through that scene several times. Those are boots with mud caked on them up to ankle height.

Looked just like my rubber boots at work the time our Caustic solution tank got holed. Had to wade around in 6" of that stuff.

Where ARE you from? I never thought I'd here another browncoat referencing Louzeeanna Lobsters, much less callin' 'em anything but "crayfish" which is so wrong.

She understands, she doesn't comprehend

Good point, Bleyddyn.

They do have freshwater crayfish in New Zealand, but the Kiwis use the same name for a salt water crustacean too. The marine decapods in question are what we here in Florida call spiny lobster (they have no enlarged claws and defend themselves by "fencing" with their long, spiny antennae).

It's actually hard to tell because we see them from such a distance, but I tend to agree with Thundar. While the color is strikingly light compared to everything else in the scene, the front is too bulky/wide and the back part seems too low to actually be white sneakers. Unless they were big fuzzy white slippers he's wearing over his boots? ;)

Jayne, your mouth is talkin. Might want to look into that.
