Finally watched Angel Season 5 - in two half marathons sessions between about 2pm Saturday and 9.30pm tonight.

I am Whedon-ein, I really am.

Not sure the Wolfram and Hart storyline worked quite as well as it could have done throughout the series, but made for a fitting and brilliantly done last few episodes. Despite having known much of what was going to happen, there were still a few suprises - the first death didn't work that well for me, despite some great acting, but the second really was a gut punch.

Smile Time was probably the standout episode after the finale, which to my mind was much more successful than Buffy's for fufilling the mission statement of the show.

The season was dark as hell - some of the stuff that was done by the "heroes" stepped way beyond the grey areas, even more so than in previous seasons.

Well, its going to be a longish drought before we see Joss on TV again I fear - I would guess unless someone comes to him with something or he gets an idea that just won't quit, he won't be looking to pitch anything for next season, maybe not even the season after that.
