Russian Reavers?

Hi all. I was pokeing around on IMDB as I often find myself doing to amuse myself and wandered by the Serenity list again on a wafty high after watching the trailer. What cought my eye was a lady by the name of Sophia Lansky that was listead as "aditional voices". Since there's no space critters or talking computers (that I know of) I got curious. Looking up Sophia Lansky's filmografy her entry for Serenity is actualy as dialect coach: Russian. With the two largest countries acounted for, china and the states, in the local dialect of the original show I've been wondering if the Reavers are Russian. Any other ideas?

I don't think the Reavers are at all limited by nationality. They may have started off Russian, trying to push out further into space to escape the American and Chinese imperialism, and then gone insane when they went too far.

But by now they are whoever they are. Whatever people are converted like that guy was, and whatever child Reavers are born from when the female Reavers are going around raping victims.

On a side note, do you think they rape each other? It doesn’t seem like a good way to run a ship, which they obviously do with some skill if they are not all dead yet, but it doesn’t seem like they have the camaraderie not to.
