SUMMER GLAU'S MOM?

I just watched Edward Scissorhands, and I noticed something peculiar about it. There is a character in it that is made to be this strange religious freak. Upon closer examination, I realized that she looks quite a bit like Summer Glau. And in the parts of the movie where this woman gets freaked out, she has the trademark River look to her. It is really strange. I know that this woman can't be summer herself, because the movie was done a long time ago, but there is the possibility that this actress could be related to our favorite psycho teen. Is there any one out there who can confirm or deny my suspicion? Thanx a metric ton.
