Well at the moment you disbelieve all SOHR/monitoring groups' reports that speak of Russian/Assad civilian deaths, but believe without question their reports that speak of US coalition civilian deaths. You underline the words 'mainstream media' - yes mainstream media reported this instance of civilian deaths in Manjib, but what sources do you think they were quoting? The SOHR, and other similar monitoring groups of course. There's no deal I can strike with you that will get you to have intellectual standards, if you fail so utterly to impose them on yourself. Nor am I willing to compromise my own intellectual standards for such a bargain.
BRAVO KPO; discussing anything with SIG and 1kiki is like trying to have a three dimensional conversation with people who are one dimensional. I have never met anyone like these two who profess, claim openly but often falsely, to understand the world and complex issues get it so wrong. And willfully so. Lairs best describes them.

Is the genie finally out of the bottle?
Quote:
A myriad of seemingly unrelated events and loose ends are converging in a manner that points in the direction of a huge win for Russian diplomacy in the Middle East, and we only need to connect the dots to see this scenario unfolding.
What dots, one might ask?
Henry Kissinger made it law for America to protect Israel. In his shuttle diplomacy trips in the lead up to the Camp David agreement, Kissinger has basically removed the USSR from the position of a superpower and a key partner on the negotiating table between Arabs and the Israelis and reduced its role to zilch. The ensuing dismantling of the USSR and the emergence of the so-called “New World Order” meant that Israel was to maintain its military superiority.
However, with the rise of Axis of Resistance in general and Hezbollah in particular, Israel’s technical military edge proved unable to provide Israel with any real security. As a matter of fact, it seems to have done just the opposite. Israel has never ever been under the kind of existential threat that it faces now, with an estimated hundred thousand Hezbollah missiles, if not more, poised to hit Israeli targets as far as Eilat.
And because America had been such a biased supporter of Israel for so long, it has lost its stature as a non-partisan arbitrator and mediator. In reality therefore, whilst America tried as hard as possible to enable Israel to impose its own peace, under its own terms, in practice, it has not been able to provide Israel with any peace under anyone’s terms.
Off to Syria.
Syria has been deadlocked in a war for more than five years. The Russian intervention that commenced in late September 2015 took the conflict, for the first time, into a direction in which the Syrian Government and its allies gained the clear upper hand.
Then, and in the height of the military operation, and seemingly just a tad before achieving and declaring victory, Russia suddenly declared a major pullout and eventually a ceasefire. Many questions were raised, and even the staunch and extremely savvy ally of Russia, Hezbollah chief Nasrallah himself has questioned publicly in a recent speech the rationale behind the Russian stand and asked: ”Who has benefited from the ceasefire?” Nasrallah was obviously referring to the fact that Al-Nusra Front and other groups have taken advantage of the ceasefire to bolster their positions and even to gain some territory in some regions.
In as much as the Russian intervention in its speed, accuracy and effectiveness has stunned the world, especially NATO, so did the pullback and ceasefire. Why did President Putin suddenly decide to scale down the military offensive, was a question that many analysts asked and tried to make speculations about.
Short-sighted analysts, especially those who love to hate Russia, found in this a golden opportunity to lash at Russia and accuse President Putin of backing off and letting Syria down. But would Putin truly back down after he had put his global political reputation on the line? Was he really expecting the Americans to come clean and work with him on identifying who is who on the ground? Would he back off after Russian lives were lost both in Syria and in the tragic jetliner crash in Sinai, and which was done in retaliation to Russia’s military action in Syria? Would Putin risk being seen in a negative way by his own people after he had risen to the level of a rescuer and hero? Last but not least, would Putin leave Turkey, and Erdogan specifically, “unpunished” after Turkey deliberately downed a Russian plane and killed its pilot?
The collective and individual answer to all of the above questions is a categorical NO. So why did Putin do it then? There seemed to be no clear answer; at least not for a while.
And of course, we cannot mention Turkey without allowing the train of events to stop at the Turkish station for a very thorough analysis.
In my analysis of the failure of “War On Syria”, which effectively began to

I wasn't complaining about insults. I was complaining that that's ALL you bring to the board. I compared the information that I brought to the board- commentary from all over the world, and all over the political map, original sources and extended analyses, to the information that YOU collectively bring to the board, and noted that you tend to engage in almost exclusively puerile, childish, personal back-an-forth. What I find interesting is that this is the instance that the USA State Department chooses to acknowledge. Either there is an internal change in policy ... and given than Russia has stopped pushing for a cease-fire and is backing pro-Syrian forces and that they are once again making significant military progress around Aleppo .... and that Turkey may deny the use of Incirlik AFB for USA bombing runs in Syria .... perhaps the State Department is planning to throw its former minions under the bus.

France Escalates - Sends Aircraft Carrier To Fight ISIS
Quote:Maybe because they anticipate not having access to Incirlik AFB in Turkey?
Seemingly not satisfied with the domestic blowback from their interventionist-driven Washingtonian foreign policy, Francois Hollande - lagging badly in the polls - has decided to double-down following the recent terror attack in Nice. As Sputnik News reports, France will send artillery to Iraq and its Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier to assist the US-led coalition’s efforts in Syria and Iraq in the coming months.
Also, this AFB in Jordan appears to be out of commission ...

So what's the next nearest AFB? There's one in Qatar. Five military bases in KSA, but I don't know if they're AFB or not. One in Afghanistan. But all of them put westgern Syria just inside range ... or maybe just outside range. I've tried to find out if the USA has conducted any airstrikes in Syria since the attempted coup in Turkey, but it seems not.

In the meantime, it looks like US airstrikes are back on after the Turkish attempted coup as

U.S.-Led Coalition Airstrike in Syria Killed Civilians, Opposition Says
An airstrike by the U.S.-led coalition killed about 25 civilians late Thursday in an Islamic State-held town in northern Syria, Syrian opposition and activist monitoring groups said.
The attack on a market in the village of Ghandora came less than two weeks after opposition and monitoring groups blamed coalition strikes for the deaths of dozens of people, possibly more than 100, in Tokhar, another village in the region.
The incidents come as the U.S.-led coalition aids Kurdish and Arab forces pushing to retake the Syrian city of Manbij from Islamic State militants with airstrikes and other assistance.

aim-in-syrian-airstrike-1469782027 and the mutual love affair between "Syrian rebels/activists/opposition" (i.e. terrorists and their sympathizers) and the USA is devolving into mutual recrimination.
Unbeknownst to the partisan hacks who maintain a laser-focus for only one thing, the USA and Russia have concluded mutual talks on Syria; Kerry and Lavrov have agreed to coordinate airstrikes. And the Syrian government has made considerable progress in freeing Aleppo from terrorist control.
The pocket of terrorists in northeast Aleppo, which represents about 10-15% of the entire city, has been completely surrounded. Syria and Russia have committed the "war crime" of creating three safe passage routes out of the surrounded area for civilians and for armed fighters wishing to lay down their weapons AND to escort civilians out, but apparently the terrorists don't want to lose their human shields, as they shell people gathering on the outbound routes.
UN peace talks are set to resume in August.

Islamic State says it's behind attack that killed 44 in northern Syria
Quote:
A massive car bomb Wednesday struck the Kurdish-controlled city of Qamishli in northeastern Syria, killing at least 44 people and wounding hundreds in what was seen as a vengeance attack by Islamic State, officials and Syrian state media reported.
Carried aboard a large truck, the bomb detonated a little after 9 a.m. near a center for the Asayesh, the local Kurdish police, as well as several governmental buildings, according to Canaan Barakat, interior minister of the Syrian Kurdish regional administration in Qamishli.
Activists said the blast destroyed 30 stores and at least 15 homes in an area that is also a vibrant residential and commercial district.
“There were children and women… they were in the market, and the bomb targeted commercial areas,” Barakat said in a phone interview Wednesday.
Shrapnel from the blast struck a fuel tank more than 400 feet away, triggering a second explosion that initially was mistaken for another suicide bomb attack.
Amaq, a news agency affiliated with Islamic State, reported that the extremist group had claimed the attack, which it said targeted “the headquarters of the Kurdish units in the city.” It also claimed more than 100 people had been killed. The group often inflates casualty numbers in its statements.
Photographs published by Syrian state news outlet SANA showed a swath of buildings devastated by the blast, with crowds converging to help the wounded.

Ok lets go over this again. You always post bashing the West. Every thing they do is an outrage to you. So to show others that it is not the behavior that bothers you but instead who is doing it, some of us here point out to others that Russia can target hospitals and you don't care in the least. They block aid groups from bringing in hospital supplies and food that is desperately needed to feed civilians; women and children. And you don't care. Err, you're accusing me of hypocrisy (and putting words in my mouth to do it) - when it is your hypocrisy that is apparent for all to see. This is Donald Trump levels of projection!
I never said that I refuse to believe specific Syrian activist/monitoring groups' reports (as you do). And I never said that I trust and rely on them 100%. They are just one of the many sources that I have cited in this thread with regard to Russian war crimes - along with the UN, international charities/NGOs, respected mainstream journalists etc. "Citizen journalism" has to be treated with healthy skepticism, but when so much of their reporting is corroborated by these other neutral and respected sources then that gives them some credibility. As does examples of balanced reporting (a new concept for you, I know) - reporting of US/coalition civilian deaths, and not just Assad/Russian ones.
This is hard for you to hear, so I'm guessing you'll just ignore it, but... Your propaganda tells you that Russia/Assad critics (like me) and Western mainstream media rely completely on Syrian activists' reporting for their understanding of the situation inside Syria. If you opened your eyes and ignored the propaganda for a second you would see for yourself that this is not true. See how this very thread contains numerous examples of evidence of Russian war crimes from credible and authoritative and neutral sources. The UN, the Red Cross, MSF etc. I have pointed these sources out to you and kiki before, and it always sends you running from the thread, back to your propaganda. Then you come back a short time later scoffing about "activists and monitoring groups", calling them terrorist sympathisers. And then without any apparent irony or shame, you cite them as evidence of US/coalition civilian casualties...

Apparently you can't keep from spewing TRUMP all over every thread. And you're not even American!

These reports are a horrific reminder that civilians and aid workers are not just on the frontline of the Syrian civil war. They are bearing an intolerable price. The bombing of hospitals is never justified. All those involved must be held to account.
It is right to have global attention on Aleppo, but it would be tragic if people came to believe Aleppo is the only crime scene in Syria. Across the country, aid workers and civilians are being targeted in a merciless way on a daily basis.

Toxic gas dropped in Syria near site of Russian helicopter crash, rescuers say
Rescuers in Syria said Tuesday a helicopter dropped barrels filled with toxic gas, seriously injuring dozens of people, not far from where a Russian transport helicopter was shot down the day before, Reuters reported.
A spokesman for rebel fighters reportedly said 33 people, most of them women and children, were hurt. They believed chlorine gas was used, but could not confirm it.

10 Facts The Mainstream Media Won’t Tell You About The War In Syria
Quote:
Corporate media regularly attempts to present Bashar al-Assad’s regime in Syria as solely responsible for the ongoing conflict in the region. The media does report on events that contradict this narrative — albeit sparingly — but taken together, these underreported details shine a new light on the conflict.
10: Bashar al-Assad has a higher approval rating than Barack Obama
Despite Obama’s claims Assad is illegitimate and must step down, the fact remains that since the conflict erupted in 2011, Assad has held the majority support of his people. The elections in 2014 – which Assad won by a landslide with international observers claiming no violations – is a testament to the fact that although Assad has been accused of serious human rights violations, he continues to remain reasonably popular with the Syrian people.
Obama, on the other hand, won elections in 2012 with a voter turnout of a mere 53.6 percent of the American public; only 129.1 million total were votes cast. This means approximately 189.8 million American people did not vote for Obama. His current approval rating sits at about 50 percent.
9: The “moderate” opposition has been hijacked
There is no longer such a thing as “moderate” opposition in Syria – if there ever was. The so-called Western-backed Free Syrian Army (FSA) has been dominated by extremists for years. The U.S. has known this yet has continued to support the Syrian opposition, despite the fact the New York Times reported in 2012 that the majority of weapons being sent to Syria have been ending up in the hands of jihadists. A classified DIA report predicted the rise of ISIS in 2012, stating:
“If the situation unravels, there is the possibility of establishing a declared or undeclared Salafist principality in eastern Syria… and this is exactly what the supporting powers to the opposition want, in order to isolate the Syrian regime.”
Further, an FSA commander went on record not only to admit his fighters regularly conduct joint operations with al-Nusra (al-Qaeda in Syria), but also that he would like to see Syria ruled by Sharia law.
Apparently, moderate can also mean “al-Qaeda affiliated fanatic.”
8: Assad never used chemical weapons on his own people
A U.N. investigation into the first major chemical weapons attack committed in early 2013 — an atrocity the West immediately pinned on Assad — concluded the evidence suggested the attack was more likely committed by the Syrian opposition. A subsequent U.N. investigation into the August 2013 attack never laid blame on anyone, including Assad’s forces. In December 2013, Pulitzer prize-winning journalist Seymour Hersh released an article highlighting deficiencies in the way the situation was handled:
“In the months before the attack, the American intelligence agencies produced a series of highly classified reports…citing evidence that the al-Nusra Front, a jihadi group affiliated with al-Qaida, had mastered the mechanics of creating sarin and was capable of manufacturing it in quantity. When the attack occurred al-Nusra should have been a suspect, but the administration cherry-picked intelligence to justify a strike against Assad.”
7: Toppling the Syrian regime was part of a plan adopted shortly after 9/11
According to a memo disclosed by 4-star General Wesley Clark, shortly after 9/11, the Pentagon adopted a plan to topple the governments of seven countries within five years. The countries were Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Iran.
As we know, Iraq was invaded in 2003. American ally Israel tried its hand at taking out Lebanon in 2006. Libya was destroyed in 2011. Prior to this intervention, Libya had the highest standard of living of any country in Africa. In 2015, alone,

An American doctor visits rebel-held Aleppo, reports on the horrors of the Russian/Syrian government onslaught there:
Quote:
Samer Attar, a surgeon with Northwestern Medicine in Chicago, is a volunteer with the Syrian American Medical Society and the Aleppo City Medical Council.
“Please don’t cut off my leg,” a Syrian man pleaded. He had been shopping when a missile hit a crowded market. The blast seared off his hair and charred his face. He could not see that his leg was hanging by a thread of flesh and could not be saved. His screams were amplified by the echoes of the dozens just as horrifically injured around him.
I am an American surgeon who recently spent two weeks working in an underground hospital in eastern Aleppo, Syria. I have been there a few times, and each time I go, I descend into lower depths of hell. It’s shocking how the very same inhuman conditions have been allowed to continue for years.
The path to this hell is Castello Road — which was the last remaining road leading into rebel-held Aleppo when I was there. The road smells of burned metal and rotten flesh, and it is littered with charred vehicles. Plumes of smoke scatter the horizon. Gutted homes with pancaked roofs, exposed wires and twisted rebar line the sides. At every moment, you feel you may be hit by a bomb or a rocket.
Inside the city, the screech of jets, the whirring of helicopters, the vibrating blasts of mortar shells and barrel bombs, the incessant ricochet of bullets — these sounds and sensations rarely stop. Civilians still manage to live there. They would rather die at home than live in a tent or drown in a boat, or they are simply too poor, too crippled, too sick or too defiant to leave their homes.
The hospital where I worked has been attacked so many times by airstrikes that it has been driven literally underground — with a ramp leading into the basement. Scalpels are dull, anesthesia is a luxury, sterility is an approximation.
Inside, the scenes are grim.
On July 1, a rocket hit a nearby marketplace. The hospital shook from the blast. The victims were not terrorists or soldiers. They were civilians shopping for the upcoming Eid celebration. Twenty-five people were killed. Dozens more were injured. There were not enough beds, so patients were placed on floors smeared with blood and body parts, with barely a place to step. Dead bodies were piled into the street to make room for incoming wounded.
The screaming never let up. Children covered in blood and dust and pockmarked with shrapnel screamed for their parents and siblings. Some would be reunited whole; others would learn whom they had lost, or which of their children’s limbs were missing or mutilated. Some had the bone shards of disintegrated bystanders embedded in their skin — routine findings after such attacks.
I saw a child, breathing but silent, with severe burns and his intestines protruding from his belly. His skin and hair were burned off. He died a couple of days later. A 5-year-old had just died before him due to respiratory failure — shrapnel from a bomb cut his spinal cord and paralyzed him from the chest down. One surgeon cut open a man’s chest in a last-ditch effort to clamp a bleeding vessel near the heart. It worked temporarily, but the man had lost too much blood, and there was no more blood to give him. Two children would later bleed to death in the operating room for similar reasons. I did an above-knee amputation on a stretcher in a hallway because all the operating rooms were full. Others whose limbs were traumatically amputated in the attack had to sit with tourniquets until an operating room opened. We later learned that a child had been decapitated by the blast.
Such slaughter occurred daily. Here, innocent civilians being blinded, amputated, burned, paralyzed, crushed and mutilated by bombs is the routine. Here, the world has shown little solidarity with innocents being massacred. This was not the work of the Islamic State. The terrorism I saw in Aleppo came from helicopters and jets in the sky.

Curiously, when I look up the April al Quds hospital bombing, neither MSF nor any reportage at the time or any person on the ground identifies the attacker. They consistently refer to "an airstrike" without saying whether it was Syrian, Russian, American, British, or French. Its only interpolation by the MSM that inserts any reference at all to who the putative attacker might be, and then only by insinuation. Here's an example
Quote:Insinuation
A Syrian hospital backed by Médecins Sans Frontières and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has been destroyed in an airstrike in Aleppo, killing patients and doctors including one of the last paediatricians remaining in the rebel-held part of the city.
MSF said the al-Quds hospital was targeted in an airstrike on Wednesday that killed 14 patients and staff members including at least two doctors, with the toll expected to rise.
The latest attack is part of a broader pattern of systematic targeting of hospitals by the government of Bashar al-Assad
Quote:of course that won't stop the western press from implying that it was the Russians or Syrians that did it ...
as the humanitarian situation in the divided commercial capital of Syria grows more desperate under intense combat.
“MSF categorically condemns this outrageous targeting of yet another medical facility in Syria,” said Muskilda Zancada, MSF’s head of mission in Syria. “This devastating attack has destroyed a vital hospital in Aleppo, and the main referral centre for paediatric care in the area. That's one of the things that the news outlets do, they do search for previous-released images to see if they've been seen before. There was an article about that a couple of years ago, it was very interesting because they showed the image and what it was claimed as (civilians injured in Venezuela, for example) and explained what it really was (boy being treated in Lebanon). Or this:

In February last year, the NGO Physicians for Human Rights said it had documented 224 attacks on 175 health facilities since the start of the conflict, and 599 medical personnel had been killed. The attacks continued after the Russian intervention – the organisation documented at least 10 attacks by Russian aircraft on medical facilities in October alone, the first month of Russia’s aerial campaign.

Sure, I've seen many examples of Russian media doing this.
So you speculate that the footage could be from a past hospital bombing, and you say that there are specific Middle Eastern hospital bombings that you are aware of. Well then, all you have to do is put both of these ideas together - do a few quick Google searches and see if the CCTV footage is from one of these old bombings. The CCTV footage is very shocking and recognisable, and the bombing of a hospital is particularly newsworthy, so it will surely not be too difficult to find.
Let us know how you get on.

Medics and civilians in a war-torn province of Syria are trying to rebuild a vital maternity hospital after it was hit by air strikes in the latest attack on health facilities.
Two people were killed in Friday’s bombing, which destroyed part of the building as two operations were underway and a woman went into labour.
Save the Children, which supports the hospital, said six newborn babies were injured when the blast sent their incubators crashing to the floor and a woman who was six months pregnant had her leg severed.

Amnesty International blamed Syrian or Russian forces for the strike, saying it fitted a “despicable pattern of unlawful attacks deliberately targeting medical facilities”.

Done. It took about 1 minute. I did a Google videos search for "Iraq hospital bombed CCTV" and "rebel shelled hospital Aleppo CCTV" and even "Afghanistan hospital bombed CCTV". Besides one video of a car bomb on a hospital in Yemen that was clearly different, the only results I got were the 2 videos I've already posted, tagged as airstrikes on hospitals in rebel-held Aleppo.
And now let me say Sig that you are full of shit. If you had really smelled a rat about where this video had come from you would have eagerly hunted that rat. What a win it would be if you could publish here that my video was a fake! But no, there is no chance of you doing even a few minutes of research where Russian war crimes are concerned. Nothing gets your head in the sand so quickly as Russian war crimes. What you WILL do instead, is try to muddy the waters as much as you can, and quickly scurry from the thread.

The attacks continued after the Russian intervention – the organisation documented at least 10 attacks by Russian aircraft on medical facilities in October alone, the first month of Russia’s aerial campaign."
Let's see ... 224 attacks ... but only 10 specifically claimed as supposedly Russian. Assuming those figures are accurate, who do you think did the other 214 attacks? And why are there no figures on those other 214 attacks? Because, 214 attacks - that's a lot of attacks to not discuss!
Let me just point out that the author left out vital relevant facts in the opinion piece. Doing that is known as cherry-picking. And whether you do that in the news, in discussion, in debate or in opinion, when you distort the facts, you've changed the nature of your communication into propaganda. I did a Youtube search for "hospital attack CCTV" and guess what I found*?
That it was exactly as I suspected .... the video was from the attack on the al Quds Hospital THREE MONTHS ago. Since al Quds was supposedly "the last" hospital in rebel-controlled Aleppo", it would have been difficult to find ANOTHER attack on a large hospital. Do you recall who was accused of the attack?
You kept asking "Why would the video only show up now?"
How the hell do I know??? Because the terrorists are hoping to make propaganda points by re-releasing an old video for the unwary to believe them? I believe I said that at the time, too!
EVERYBODY has a story to tell and EVERYBODY has a bias. There are no sources that you should "trust" so in future, vet your info more carefully.
* also, for the sake of completeness Pune Sasson Hospital, Yemen Military Hospital, Alfred Hospital, Hosur Hospital, Jinnah Hospital (Lahore), and Santa Casa de Bage Hospital on the first page

Syrian Doctors Write Letter to President Obama, Urging Him to Act in Aleppo
Last year, 160,000 patients wounded by war were treated in the 150 hospitals supported by Doctors Without Borders alone. A total of 94 airstrikes and canon bombardments targeted hospitals and clinics supported by the organization and around 63 hospitals were hit, some multiple times, while 12 were completely destroyed.

So Sig and Kik questioned whether Russia & Assad were to blame for this particular hospital bombing (fools). Here's the director of the charity that runs the hospital, speaking out in the wake of the bombing against the Russian/Assad war crimes:
Quote:
Speaking on the BBC’s Today programme he condemned the lack of political pressure on the Syrian regime or Russia to stop committing alleged humanitarian abuses.
He said: “There is unspeakable humanitarian abuse going on across Syria at the moment and there is very little accountability for people committing these crimes.
“This is now not just a humanitarian catastrophe it has major political implications not just for the Middle East for also for Europe.
“Politics comes down to pressure and at the moment there is very little pressure on the Syrians, the Russians or frankly even the Iranians to curb the humanitarian abuse that is contributing to the conflict inside Syria.”

MSM using pro-al Nusra “media center” as source for war-propaganda
updated 19/08/16
Quote:
At some point over the last few days a little boy and his family allegedly sustained minor cuts and bruises when their apartment building was allegedly bombed by pro-Assad forces. The Western media, which has consistently ignored the thousands of those severely injured and killed in Aleppo by “rebel” bombardment, has now found its conscience and gone crazy.
You must have seen this video, because it’s everywhere right now.
https://twitter.com/AleppoAMC/status/766014854155083776
You’ll find it all over the Guardian, NBC, Independent and most other major corporate news outlets, most using the same AP source. The boy is allegedly five-year-old Omran Daqneesh. According to the AP report neither he nor the rest of his family sustained anything but superficial cuts and bruises.
Yet, in a conflict that has already claimed the lives of more than 100,000 people nationwide, the media wants us to believe this story is somehow unique and that the “horror generated” by a video of some people looking quite well but dusty and bloodstained will shock us more than the piles of corpses , “echo the anguished global response” to images of drowned Aylan Kurdi and galvanise us all into “doing something” – ie supporting a NATO intervention to save the terrorists in eastern Aleppo.
If the sight of all the major outlets who cheer on western-backed slaughter every day, running wall-to-wall op-eds and features about the tragedy of a little boy with a cut on his face, simply because it serves the empire’s agenda, doesn’t convince you of the moral and intellectual blank they’ve become then keep reading. It gets better.
AP and other outlets tell us the vid was “filmed and circulated” by a group called the “Aleppo Media Centre.” Who/what are they?
Well, the Graun links to their Twitter, which is in Arabic, and which boasts over 20,000 alleged followers, including several members of the western media, and a plethora of similar short and often murky vids beside this one. We can also quite easily find their Facebook page, where we also find this:
Screen Shot 2016-08-18 at 16.47.25
That’s “al Nusra” as in the US-designated terrorist group. It looks as if the AMC quite approves of them doesn’t it. Even calls them “rebels” not terrorists”, and cheers on the fact they have killed Syrian service men.
We’re also a bit curious about why the AP report claim the video was made Wednesday night, when it was uploaded to Twitter at 13:52 BST Wednesday afternoon, which would equate with 15:52 in Aleppo. Is this a time-zone anomaly? But then there’s the added confusion of the Tweet itself, which seems to say pretty clearly that the vid was made on Sunday evening.
Screen Shot 2016-08-18 at 22.23.14
Sunday? Wednesday afternoon? Wednesday night? It would be good to clear that up. Maybe we can ask the photo-journalist and alleged eye witness, “Mahmoud Raslan”, quoted extensively by AP and almost every media outlet.
It’s this Raslan who sets the scene, provides corroboration, gives the background human interest story of handing survivors “from one balcony to another”, and of passing “three lifeless bodies” before finding our poster boy alive. So he must know for sure when it happened. But so far he seems hard to track down.
Some outlets such as the BBC describe him as a “photo journalist for Al Jazeera Mubasher”. He’s also described by the Indy and others as the “photographer behind [the] iconic image” of the little boy in the orange seat. This is slightly odd because the most widely distributed “iconic image” is just a still from the video, as the Guardian itself admits at the top of the article linked to above, and as this screen grab shows:

Once of the amazing things about your boundless ...omg I'm having such a hard time not using the word "stupidity" ... is your apparent complete inability to learn from something that happened not more than a few short years ago, and which we are still suffering from today in terms of the spread of jihadism.

China steps up 'military cooperation' with Assad as top admiral visits Damascus
Quote:
China is to step up personnel training and humanitarian assistance to President Bashar al Assad’s Syrian government, state media reported on Thursday, in a signal of growing concern in Beijing about the course of Syria’s civil war.
Rear Admiral Guan Youfei, who heads China's office for international military cooperation, met Lt. General Fahd Jassem al-Frejj, the Syrian defence minister, in Damascus earlier this week, the Xinhua news agency said.
The Chinese military is “willing to strengthen cooperation with its Syrian counterparts,” the agency quoted the defence ministry as saying.
“They reached consensus on improving personnel training, and the Chinese military offering humanitarian aid to Syria,” the Xinhua report said of the Damascus meeting.

Xinhua said Adm. Guan also met Lt. General Sergei Chvarkov, the Russian general in charge of the reconciliation centre Russia set up earlier this year to monitor a short-lived ceasefire between the government and rebel groups.
The Russian defence ministry was not immediately available for comment. Russia entered the war in Syria on Assad’s side in September 2015.
The Global Times, a paper published by the ruling Communist Party, said advisors are already on the ground in Syria to train regime forces in the use of Chinese-bought weapons including sniper rifles, rocket launchers, and machine guns.

In Syria, ISIL and assorted jihadists are slowly losing ground.
Daraya, which had been besieged by al Nusra (al Qaida in Syria) has been liberated. Terrorists and their families who do not want to make peace with Assad will be evacuated to Idlib. (It's too bad that the women and children didn't get to decide for themselves but will be transported, like so much baggage, into another potentially besieged city. But that's Wahhabism for you!)
Coalition forces are chipping away at the roughly 15% of eastern Aleppo which is still under jihadist control.
Kurdish forces, under USA control, have taken Manbij.
That's not to say the the situation in Syria isn't complex. Turkey has invaded Syria in an effort to blunt the US-controlled Kurds from taking too much territory. The USA, having to decide WHICH "ally" to throw under the bus- Turkey or the Kurds - has decided to throw the Kurds under the bus. For now.
Progress towards peace is being made. The sticking point is still the USA's insistence that "Assad must go". It's hard to believe that the USA still feel entitled to destabilize governments it doesn't like, having created so many clusterfucks already. Hopefully, the USA will decide to end its proxy war in Syria soon, and allow for peace and redevelopment to begin.

I thought this was an interesting analysis of Turkey's entrance into Syria
Joe Biden Humiliated In Turkish "Appeasement" As Erdogan Bombs US Allies In Syria
Quote:
The last time U.S. Vice President Joe Biden flew to Turkey, in January, he had a stern message for President Erdogan: his model of Islamic democracy was setting a bad example by intimidating media and threatening academics.
However, his tone was markedly different when he arrived in Ankara on Wednesday, just weeks after a failed coup in Turkey that has strained relations between the two countries, and on the same day that Turkey launched a full-blown incursion into northern Syria "to halt ISIS." With Turkey making very clear, and very open overtures toward Russia, Biden was in full blown diplomatic damage-limitation mode.
The dramatic shift in diplomatic posture by Biden comes as the U.S.-Turkish alliance has been dealt several blows in recent weeks, to the point where the US vice president's arrival in Ankara shows just how concerned the US, which is counting on continued support from Turkey - NATO's second-biggest military - has become. American worries have been compounded by Erdogan restoring ties with Russia - the Turkish president's first diplomatic meeting after the failed coup was with Putin in St. Petersburg, as a result of which Turkey has been discussing military cooperation with the Kremlin.
Meeting with Erdogan and Turkey's prime minister in Ankara on Wednesday, Biden delivered a message of alliance and conciliation.
"Let me say it for one last time: The American people stand with you ... Barack Obama was one of the first people you called. But I do apologize. I wish I could have been here earlier," Biden said.
But he wasn't.
And while Biden's pathetic attempt at appeasement may have come and gone, reinforcing just how much the American people stand with a person whose pre-arranged purge of political opponents has resulted in over 100,000 Turkish citizens fired or arrested, Turkey's diplomatic humiliation of the US continued, when far from attacking ISIS in Syria, the stated objective behind the invasion ...
Turkish forces and rebels supported by Erdogan continued their deadly attacks on Kurdish-backed forces in north Syria on Saturday. The same Kurdish-backed forces which are also backed by the US.
And it's not as if Turkey is even hiding it: Turkey's government, which is fighting a Kurdish insurgency at home, has said the Syrian campaign it opened this week is as much about targeting Islamic State as it is about preventing Kurdish forces filling the vacuum left when Islamists withdraw. Turkey wants to stop Kurdish forces gaining control of a continuous stretch of Syrian territory on its frontier, which Ankara fears could be used to support the Kurdish militant group PKK as it wages its three-decade insurgency on Turkish soil.
According to Reuters, Turkish security sources said two F-16 jets bombed a site controlled by the Kurdish YPG militia, which is part of the broader U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) coalition.
Meanwhile, the US-backed Kurds are fighting back, and according to military sources, one Turkish soldier was killed and three others wounded when a tank was hit by a rocket that they said was fired from territory held by the Kurdish YPG. The sources said the army shelled the area in response.
At that point the chaos that is the Syrian conflict, with so many competing elements, many of whom supported by the US, was on full display.
So, who IS the USA supporting in Turkey???
There are so many factions, I've kind of lost track.
Let's see...
There were the arms the CIA was shipping from Libya to Syria via NATO-member Turkey.
There was the ISIL oil which crossed into NATO-memmber Turkey, which provided a nice revenue stream for Balil Erdogan ...
And the ISIL-

Double-tap airstrike on funeral in rebel-held Aleppo hits mourners, then rescue workers, 25+ killed - https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/airstrike-in-east-aleppo-hits-chi

The funeral was for 13 people killed in an airstrike days earlier:

On Friday, a video of two young boys, inconsolable as they mourned the death of family members in a Thursday airstrike on Bab al-Nairab, went viral. The footage captured a private moment of painful grief: Sobbing, the boys clutch each other tightly, surrounded by the hubbub of a hospital ward.
Underscoring the tragedy that has befallen so many families left in Aleppo, it appeared that the boys came from the same families that took to the streets Saturday to mourn their dead, only to be hit by airstrikes.
The fate of the children remains unknown. The flood of photographs from the aftermath of the attack were too graphic to publish. They showed the bodies of men, women and children, some of them blasted in half.
“The regime is telling us that we can’t be sad, we can’t cry for our children who die. They want us to think that if we hold funerals for them, we will risk death, too,” said Abdulkafi al-Hamdo, an English teacher from Aleppo who shared images of the dead with reporters.
The video came a week after footage of another child, 5-year-old Omran Daqneesh, was viewed millions of times around the world, transforming his dusty image into a symbol of Aleppo’s suffering. When the child’s brother died days later, the news received little attention.

The next day [That would be about two months ago, as of today- SIGNY] the government formally offered the rebel groups in Darayya a surrender deal, according to which the rebels would be granted safe passage to other rebel-held areas of Damascus if they gave up their weapons. The FSA and Ajnad al-Sham commanders were given a one-week deadline to respond.
After rebel commanders refused to surrender, government forces resumed their attacks on Darayya on 30 June

They are only too happy and excited to do it.
Merely re-enacting these violent events is visibly too much for some of the killers playing the victims, who, before our eyes, begin to see what this violence actually meant. Despite or even because of the extravagant absurdity of this pantomime, the reality of what went on begins to dawn on the perpetrators. Others are scornful of any regret: "You feel haunted because your mind is weak. It's just a nerve imbalance."

How do we explain this? I understand (meaning I get why, not condone) a number of ways people justify or rationalize such murder:
1. defending oneself.
2. blood lust - when enough murder causes one to no longer feel its effects on the human psyche enabling continued acts. There has to be an initial trigger.
3. revenge - maybe the most powerful motivator.
4. seeing the victims as inhuman.
5. encouragement by others, more dominant people (following orders).
I get the feeling Assad, and even much of Syria, is on murder autopilot. They are consumed by the power and thrill of killing. No one is really controlling anything else. This is all they know so this is all they do, every day. If they stopped now it would only make them look more guilty for their previous acts.
Interesting question. For me Assad's acts of evil come from a variety of places including:
1) Weakness and fear - Assad is part of a tiny minority, the Alawites, who are just 12% of the population but have ruled a Sunni-majority country for decades. This is a precarious position, especially when you consider...
2) His family's history of brutal suppression of the Sunnis - Historically the Assads have been very brutal in suppression of any kind of uprising (see Assad's father). Bashar saw what his father had done to successfully quell an uprising, and naturally tried the same. And when it didn't work... well, there's no way back once you've started down the path of war crimes against your own people. You either double down on the violence to try to quash the uprising, flee the country in disgrace (a la Yanukovich in Ukraine), or you get deposed and face the people's idea of justice.
Russia's motives in this holocaust of Sunnis are less clear, and in some ways much more important (since Russia is, after all, the regime's chief enabler). Since the war in Ukraine I have thought of Putin as someone who is running his country but in his own mind simply playing a very tactical game. All he cares about is solidifying his hold on power, benefiting his circle of oligarch cronies, and the glory of Russian imperialism. When he starts a war (and then prosecutes it for months/years on end) this is all he thinks about - not the thousands of people who are getting killed or having their lives ruined. It's all a game to Putin, and he wants to win.

Official: U.S. thinks Russian plane hit Syrian aid convoy
A U.S. official tells CBS News “preliminary indications” are that it was a Russian aircraft that struck an aid convoy attempting to deliver humanitarian supplies to a rebel-held area, killing some 20 civilians.
The U.N. humanitarian aid agency said it has temporarily suspended all convoys in Syria following the attack on the convoy, plunging the already grim five-year-old Syrian war deeper into uncertainty.

First, an article in a similar vein (the title explains it all) by Alexander Mercouris on TheDuran: Making up the news: How the Western media misreported the Syrian convoy attack. I'm not familiar with TheDuran but the article is informative and well-written like the ones produced here by b.
Second, the blessing/curse of being ex-military is sounding like a nut to most of you when I bring up these minute details that I think are terribly significant. Given that, take this for what it's worth:
There are several variations of the Hellfire missile fired from U.S. drones like the Predator. As evidenced by vidoes of Hellfire strikes beginning with the Iraqi war, one very popular flavor seems to be the AGM-114N variant. It contains a pretty energetic PBX-112 explosive charge surrounded by a layer of metal particles. Fine-mesh fluorinated aluminum in case you were curious. Without getting into the physics of it all, I'll just say that this design came out of research to produce a 'better' fuel-air explosive.
The Metal-Augmented Charge (MAC) Hellfire AGM-114N belongs to the thermobaric category of weapons - ones designed to kill/destroy by an extended blast overpressure wave rather than conventional explosive's overpressure spike. A secondary effect of a MAC/thermobaric weapon's hotter, longer-duration blast wave is that it's more likely to set things on fire than a conventional explosive. Not as much as a incendiary-purpose weapon, but more so than conventional explosives.
Isn't killing people efficiently by more clever designs fascinating? It is to Lockheed-Martin shareholders, but I digress. At any rate, plenty of info out there on the AGM-114N and theromobarics if you're interested.
Now, the MAC-enhanced blast of the U.S. Hellfire missiles produces an interesting visual effect at night. After the decay of an intensely-bright and well-consolidated blast flash, you can see what look like little sparkles at the edge of the receding explosion. The sparkles are residue of the burnt fluorinated aluminum that undergo a secondary burning, of sorts. It's very distinctive once you notice it. The Russians have thermobaric bombs as well, but they are of a different design and the blast usually looks different - non-existent sparkles because of a micronized metal powder, or long-duration sparkles on very large charges for whatever reason.
So (sorry, TL:DR already) I notice that many of the MSM-replays of the supposed rebel convoy attack video was edited in a particular way to mask what is plainly (to me) a MAC blast. The BBC reports are a good example. Their version is enlarged, shaky and blurry consistent with the poor head-chopper production standards. But it is an edited version of the much clearer original video. ABC must have produced their report before the censorship memo went out. If you look at only the first second of this ABC video and try to pause it during the blast, you can see a few frames with the visual effect I'm talking about.
So what am I yammering about that has any relevance here? This: If this video was shown to me outside the context of the convoy attack, I would guess it was a Hellfire strike somewhere. Now we hear from Russia that a Predator drone (typically Hellfire-armed) was loitering around the 'bombed convoy' area immediately before and after the attack. An attack that produced no crater (typical of the air-blast of a thermobaric Hellfire) and numerous fires (also more likely from a thermobaric Hellfire). Then I see the curiously-edited video on most MSM seemingly intended to obscure the signature blast of a thermobaric Hellfire. [adjusts tin-foil hat] I think you know where I'm going here.
Just to set the stage for the next chapter of lies, CENTCOM or the U.S. DoD will undoubtedly deny that a U.S. drone attacked the convoy (not that any journalist will bother asking). AS we saw in the SAA/Deir EzZor attack though, it's not necessarily a U.S. aircraft. The U.S. can deny responsibility if needed because 1) any of a number

WHO REJECTS AID AND ESCAPE ROUTES?
Western media editorialize about the Syrian government "besieging" cities, but the reality is that the Assad government has offered aid and evacuation routes which have been rejected by "local councils" (i.e. local governance groups which - judging by the black ISIL flags in the background- have probably been infiltrated by al Nusra, ISIL, or other terrorist groups)
But you don't have to take my word for it. In September
Quote:
Brita Hagi Hassan, head of the local council told Reuters he had received an aid plan but that it did not contain any details about how the operation would be carried out. He said, “The presence of the Russian side on the Castello Road [for aid delivery is not acceptable due to its lack of neutrality.”
He added that the party supervising the road must not open the shipments [for inspection], which should include fuel, medicine and flour.
It is expected that Aleppo — which is divided between areas under opposition control in the eastern part and the regime in the western part — will receive aid within the framework of the recently brokered Russian-American deal.
http://www.syrianobserver.com/EN/News/31639/Aleppo_Local_Council_Rejec
ts_Presence_Russian_Forces_Castello_Road
This isn't the first time that "rebels" have rejected UN-monitored aid. In August
Quote:
The United Nations is calling for a 48-hour ceasefire to allow food and medicine to enter the embattled city of Aleppo, but a row over which route the aid convoys are to use has brought the plan to a halt.
The UN wants to use Castello Road, the road north of Aleppo that after weeks of bombing the regime captured last month to complete its encirclement of east Aleppo.
“If Castello Road becomes an aid corridor, the regime will make it impossible for us, as the opposition, to take it back,” Muhammad Fadila, the head of the Provincial Council of Aleppo, tells Syria Direct’s Bahira al-Zarier.
http://syriadirect.org/news/which-road-to-aleppo-opposition-refuses-ai
d-delivery-via-castello-road/
So apparently the Aleppo local councils would rather starve their own population than allow UN-coordinated aid to their part of the city, and cry crocodile tears about it
Previous to that, in July ...
Quote:Especially if you reject using the road if its controlled by the Syrian govt.
“The regime taking control of Castello is a disaster for thepeopleterrorists and their hostages in Aleppo,” Ammar al-Halabi, an embedded reporter with rebel brigades witnessing the battle for the access road, told Syria Direct on Wednesday. “There’s no longer anywhere to move the wounded outside of Aleppo or to bring anything to the city.”
Quote:
On Thursday, the Syrian regime launched a campaign dropping leaflets into east Aleppo, claiming safe passage out of the 62 encircled districts, a move that localresidentsarmed groups called an attempt to “pull the wool over the eyes of the international community.”
Helicopters dropped pamphlets over east Aleppo city—one day after at least seven airstrikes—advertising four “safe passages” for any east Aleppo resident looking to leave. Three lead in the direction of the regime-controlled portion of the provincial capital and one towards the regime-held southern countryside. Several sources on the ground told Syria Direct that not one of the four proposed passages is in fact open.
... “We’ll never leave our city [or allow anyone else to leave? -SIGNY] no matter the dozens of airstrikes nor the continuous bombings that we face,” Murad al-Halabi, an Aleppo resident in the Saladin district, told Syria Direct’s partner website The Syrian Voice.
And it's not just Aleppo. In Darayya
