This is the effect of all those chocolate cakes...fluffier than Jayne. Let me know what you think!

CATEGORY: FICTION    TIMES READ: 2497    RATING: 10    SERIES: FIREFLY

She wasn’t a Christmas person... she’s been a Buddhist since she could remember – she had to say though, she liked the cheerful atmosphere and all the good will Christmas brought with it.

Today though, was something different. She got what Kaylee called a Christmas miracle, the girl said everyone gets one – big or small and hers was now lying on her couch and she had to say it wasn’t small.

The captain refused to take part in the festivities much to River and Kaylee’s disappointment. He left their presents near the Christmas tree and retired to his bunk after making it clear he didn’t want to be disturbed, of course she wasn’t surprised when she noticed he hadn’t got her a present – and the tears in the shower room were totally uninvited.

So when he showed up, saying he forgot to give her something, she couldn’t understand all the hope that made her heart beat like a train. Anyway, he said that hers took a little more time to make – yes, make. Malcolm Reynolds made her a bracelet, which would be one of her most prized possessions.

It was silver and dainty, and her name was elegantly designed and a ruby hung from the tail of the last ‘a’

It was then when they realised they were standing beneath the mistletoe, with a wry smile, he leaned in to kiss her.

One kiss led to another which was developed in a loving experience on the couch. Wearing nothing but her newest Christmas gift, Inara looked in awe at the sleeping captain who was holding her tightly.

Yes she definitely got her Christmas miracle!

Happy xmas and a shiny new year to you all !

Yay, a nice shiny happy tail! I loved the notion that Mal would make something for Inara. Reminds me of the Welsh traditon where the men carve a 'love spoon' for their sweetheart, the idea being that the first thing you should give is part of yourself, the handmade item being a representation of that. Thank you! Ali D :~)

Ooops, sorry, that should be 'tale' not 'tail'. My bad. Ali D :~)

This is such beautiful work, Anonym! Definitely loved the idea of Mal making something with his own two hands as a representation of his love for Inara...she's gotten lots of expensive gifts from clients presumably, but never anything hand-made (one presumes) :D

That's exactly what I thought, usually rich people use their money to show their effections...since Mal is always low on cash, he'd come up with something genuine and as much appreciated as the other gifts - if not more *wink*
