I can't find the specific part of the legislation that protects pedophiles. Since you've read it and know it so well, PN, can you please point it out to me?

After witnessing a gay pride march, committed Christian Pauline Howe wrote to the council to complain that the event had been allowed to go ahead.
But instead of a simple acknowledgement, she received a letter warning her she might be guilty of a hate crime and that the matter had been passed to police.
Two officers later turned up at the frightened grandmother's home and lectured her about her choice of words before telling her she would not be prosecuted.
Mrs Howe, 67, whose husband Peter is understood to be a Baptist minister, yesterday spoke of her shock at the visit and accused police of ' wasting resources' on her case rather than fighting crime.
'I've never been in any kind of trouble before so I was stunned to have two police officers knocking at my door,' she said.
'Their presence in my home made me feel threatened. It was a very unpleasant experience. 'The officers told me that my letter was thought to be an intention of hate but I was expressing views as a Christian.'
Mrs Howe's case has been taken up by the Christian Institute, which is looking into potential breaches of freedom of speech and religious rights under the Human Rights Act, either by Norwich City Council or Norfolk Police. And homosexual equality pressure group Stonewall has branded the authorities' response ' disproportionate'.
Mrs Howe claims she was 'verbally abused' while distributing 'Christian leaflets' at the march in the centre of Norwich in July. She said someone 'whispered something in my ear and disappeared'. She fired off a letter to the council describing the march as a 'public display of indecency' that was 'offensive to God'.
She wrote: 'It is shameful that this small but vociferous lobby should be allowed such a display unwarranted by the minimal number of homosexuals.'
The letter went on to describe homosexuals as 'sodomites', said homosexuality had 'contributed to the downfall of every empire' and added that 'gay sex was a major cause of sexually transmitted infections'.
But Mrs Howe told the Sunday Telegraph her comments were an expression of her beliefs, not homophobia. She received a response from the council's deputy chief executive, Bridget Buttinger, who said it was the local authority's 'duty... to eliminate discrimination of all kinds'.
She went on: 'The content of your letter has been assessed as potentially being hate related because of the views you expressed towards people of a certain sexual orientation.
'Your details and details of the contents of your letter have been recorded as such and passed to the police.'

Still waiting. I know you like jumping on the Republican bandwagon, PN, but if you're going to call things "pedophile protection act", it really would be nice if you could cite the relevant portions of said act that are supposed to protect pedophiles.
Or are you less interested in honesty than you are in carrying water for your Republican masters?
I know calling PN a republican is an insult in some circles and might get his goat, but it cuts a wider swath than that, and probably won't have much effect.
You have to give him this "Pedophile Protection Act" is a pretty good Frank Luntz term.
Myself, I think the concept of hate crimes is pretty dumb, since what's being committed is already a crime. I don't see why we need a law saying "it's wrong to attack jews and blacks" does this means "it's okay to attack muslims and mexicans?"
Even if they were to add those two "far more likely to be attacked by the hate crowd" target groups to the list, it would still make no sense. They're never going to add Christians to the list, and even as a non-christian, I get offended by the amount of hate against christians. Similarly, pagans, who have suffered far greater casualties through hate crimes over the centuries than any of these other groups, will also never be added.
Also, specifically, how specific is this law? I mean, sure, if Wulf attacks a black guy he's in extra trouble, but what about if an ethnic west african attacks an ethnic east african. Say, for instance, that an american of west african descent, being one of about 99% of american blacks, were to attack the president, or one of his relatives. They would be committing an act with a lot more precedence of racial hatred than whites vs. blacks or christians vs. jews, let alone straights vs. gays.
But numerically, the most likely events are blacks attacking other blacks, but being of different affiliations, such as bloods and crip, so there's a lot of hate there, but I don't recall this ever coming up. Yet even wearing a symbol of celtic identity makes the list. When exactly did the Irish attack anyone? Is this a reference to the Gangs of New York or something? Somehow I suspect not.
If you want to look at the current violence levels, I gotta go with Frem: Most violence is committed against children. Are they "protected" under this?
Sorry, just don't see the point. I think a simpler legal system would be better:
