Which one of our favorite souled vamps should get to fulfill the prophecy? Just wondering what everyone thinks. Sorry if it has been asked already.

One word can answer your question: Spike.

I vote for neither. Their nemesis, The Immortal, gets turned into a vampire but somehow he keeps his soul in the process, cuz' he's special that way.

So now there's 3 vamps with a soul and the Immortal accidentally saves the world and goes Shanshu while Angel and Spike look on speechless.

That would be equally crappy and funny.

Also, that would leave him (the Immortal) effectively nameless.

"The Mortal" just doesn't have the same ring to it.

Depends on whether you're talking about which one of them 'deserves' to fulfil the prophecy or which one would make a better story. I'd say Angel in the first case, probably Spike in the second.

in the logic of the show, spike SHOULD get it. if he survived the showdown in the alley behind hyperion.

I read somewhere that Joss said Spike gets the Shanshu.

I'm going to pretend that I didn't read that (whistles and looks around)

Spike is a much more interesting and dynamic character, so, dramatically, it should be him.

This is a pattern with other shows/characters. While Buffy is a great character, she's not my favorite.

In practical terms, JM is also much more cognizant of the show's value, and he obviously cares more than David about the show's fans, so what else can you do???

SPIKEANDJEZEBEL

Joss did say this, but he didn't seem to be totally serious. Someone at the High Stakes party asked him what happened to the Angel crew, and he gave a very tongue-in-cheek answer, saying "Illyria lives, Gunn probably dies, Spike gets his Shanshu, Angel loses an arm but probably lives...." I was at the party, and it was obvious that he was just having a little fun with the fans. He said more seriously that the point of the ending was that the characters go on fighting the good fight, and it doesn't really matter what happens to them, as long as they don't lose the mission.

No way is he more interesting. I'll agree that Angel hasn't been portrayed as that interesting in the last couple of years but his backstory and character are far more complex and layered than Spike's. Far more.

And let's not forget the real reason for Spike getting his soul back!
