I have been all over firefly and buffy... and i'm a huge fan of Joss...But I am also an avid dvd collector.

Will Angel ever be released as a complete series box set like buffy was? I'd rather buy that than buy each season separately... it just feels more complete... and I imagine the cost would be less....

any thoughts?

Your last few words - the cost would be less - is a sure bet, imo, that the answer to your question is nope. There are 5 seasons w/ 22(?) eps per season? Do the math, and it adds up to 5 seperate box sets.

well... they already released a region 2 complete box set... i think the better question to ask is why not release a region 1 for the US??

There is an Angel complete set. I just bought it off of eBay. Also saw it at BJ's Wholesale Club. Off of eBay (including shipping) it ran about $80 USD; at BJ's it was $125 USD (not including tax).

depends on which regions your after, i think 1 and 2 already have boxes. i've been waiting for the region 4 one and i just saw yesterday it's available on ezydvd.com.au after april. i'm soooo happy!!!!! not as cheap as the buffy one was per season, but still cheaper than buying them seperately, not by much though.

I have been looking for quite awhile myself. The best thing I have found so far is from Costco (a warehouse-store like Sam's Club, if you aren't familiar). Membership to Costco is $45 per year, but they have great deals on lots of quality merchandise, so it's well worth it. Anyway, back to the point. I purchased the "Complete Series" of Angel there for $124.99, which is an outstanding deal. You could pay for membership AND buy this set for LESS than getting all 5 seasons from Amazon. The downside is that this box only contains the individual season sets, no collector's box like we are all looking for. Hope this helps!

The Angel set was Limited Edition; it had its own number. You can't buy it pristine anymore. There was a similar set for Buffy a month after season 7 first came out on DVD. At the end of last October they brought the Angel set that was of the same format out, and on the same day brought a mass-produced Complete Buffy set.

Going by this I'm purely speculating that a mass-produced Angel set will be out October/November this year.

Oh, and these are all Region 2. The mass produced region 1 Buffy set came out 2 weeks after the Region 2 release, and it neither series saw a Limited Edition release. So I'm still guessing October/November if ever for you guys too.

I am severely annoyed that they don't think enough of US fans to put out an Angel Limited Edition here. I have been watching for it since the show ended. I'm unaware of one in the United States. I have the Buffy complete box set limited edition and I am very eager for a similar Angel package. I saw the Costco bundle of the 5 separate seasons but didn't buy it. I half regret it. It was cheap, that was good. but I really wanted my collectors ed, compact package. So I watch Buffy interminably and annoy my husband... Sigh.

You are talking about region 2. The gripe of American Fans is that we've been left out. There's no REGION 1 box set. I understand there's now an Australian box set. What the hell did we American Angel fans do to deserve being ignored like this? I'm so annoyed...

Anyone heard anything new about a complete "Angel" set (a la Buffy Chosen) in the works?

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

According to this page at tvshowsondvd.com - http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=6303 - there will be new "slim-sets" of Angel released in November at somewhat lower prices, but still no word of a complete series set for Region 1. Amazon.com does not yet have a pre-order page for the new sets.

It's possible that this thread is dead.

I just recently got into the Buffyverse, which DOES include Angel because I said so. Anyway, the upshot is that soon I'm getting my Buffy Chosen Colection and I cannot rest until I have the Angel one.

The idea that there would be region 2 and NOT region 1 is maddening. You can go to amazon, you can SEE it, but you cannot PLAY it on your DVD player.

Someone give me news before I explode with frustration.

it's disheartening i kno... but releasing the new slimmer sets tells us that fox thinks they can still make money off of these..

at least they are "attending" to this series rather than doing nothing at all...

so you never kno.... someday they might make it.. they might jus want to milk as much as they can with the slimmer sets... then make true fans double dip by releasing the complete collection.

Excuse the language (and the rant), but the hell with the slimmer sets.

Why buy "slimmer" versions of things you already have, even if it's at a lower price? I can't tell you how frustrating it is to look on Ebay at the shiny limited edition sets they have in other countries while over here (the country in which the show was made), we get diddly. We have Buffy, we have our Big Damn Series, now it's time to show Angel the respect it deserves.

Ahem. Sorry about that. Rant over.

Fox has been re-releasing all of it's older series in the slim-cases for lower prices. They've already done Buffy and X-Files.

Surely if you already have the sets then buying a 'shiny limited edition' complete box set would be pretty much the same as buying slim reissues?

Not that I don't think the US should get a complete series box, but if you've already got the dvds then you're basically paying for a box to put them in, given that the Angel R2 complete set has no bonus disc like the Buffy one.

Very true, I hadn't thought of that. On the other hand, purchasing the Chosen Collection (which runs about $198.00 on amazon.com) as a set ends up being somewhat cheaper than buying each season individually. In theory, it would be the same concept for the Angel. Though I'm not sure how this will work out with the new slimmer sets.

And no bonus disc? What sense does that make?

In the UK at least, I've seen several sites where it's cheaper to buy the 5 individual sets than buy the complete box.

Actually I'm not a fan of including bonus discs with these big box sets, mainly because it means there are new features now unavailable to those who had already shelled out for the original DVDs.

I have about given up on an "Angel" complete box set in the U.S. I've only seen one store that has the slim sets (Fry's). I see that Amazon is selling the regular 5-season DVD set for $150.

Hmmmmm.....
