I'd been thinking about this for awhile, and the two threads IMO started finally got me to post it. IMO's, I think, are intended for listing your favorite characters, period, including the main stars, but for this, I'm specifically talking about the short-timers. Not even recurring guest stars with key roles like Lindsey, Lilah, etc. I'm talking 10 episodes or less. Maybe even just ONE ep.

For me, it's:

Groo (maybe you could've guessed ), Merl, Penn (S1's "Somnambulist"), Anne (S2's "Blood Money" and "The Thin Dead Line", along with her time on "Buffy"), Number Five (S5's "Cautionary Tale..."), Virginia Bryce, George (Gunn and Rondell's friend), Skip, and the book store guy from S4's "The Magic Bullet".

The thing I like about all of these characters is that the actors had small roles (in the grand scheme of 110 episodes), yet managed to create very memorable characters that I always look forward to seeing again whenever their episodes are coming up...

I'm not sure if Doyle counts, since he was in the credits. Sadly he turned out to be a short timer.

On Buffy it was the random bad guys I liked the most - Sundae, Ethan Rayne, Mr. Trick (again he may not count as he was around for a couple of episodes in a row) and of course Anya's ex. "HA HA HA! PUNY RECEPTACLE!" Insane troll logic is a wondeful thing

Anne was brilliant. That a character could develop so completely just from a couple of guest appearances... I miss Mutant Enemy.

EMBERS

Angel didn't have enough minor characters...
I could come up with a whole bunch from Buffy!

But I think I would say Faith,
even though she was first on Buffy, she really did a lot of growth as a character on Angel....

I don't see why he wouldn't count (except for the credits good point) but he was only in what? nine eps so he definitely gets my vote.

Doyle, most definitely. Though he really had such an important effect on the show that you can't really classify him as minor.

Anne was great, I thought. I just finished watching the episodes where she guest-starred. It was great to see how she's grown since the last time we saw her.

Caleb on the last season of Buffy (the only season I've seen). Nathan made him just soooooo evil. I got shivers up and down my spine every time I heard him.

I also like the way Buffy killed him-split him open from the crotch up-so appropriate.

We sniff the air, we don't kiss the dirt.

If we're sticking with Buffy/Angel: LORNE!! (he didnt make the credits until season 5)

Firefly: BADGER!!
