Sorry if there's another older thread on GoT, but I was too lazy to search for it.

I think my biggest problem, understanding that much of the issues that came w/ season 7 were due to lack of episodes , thus time, to get from point A to B, was summed up with one huge flaw.

The Plan.

To go north of the wall, find a wight ( just one ) and bring it back to show Cersei that , yes, the threat is very real.

Now, the obvious problems are... how to FIND the army of the dead, find a wight, some how sneak up on them so as to get just the one, not kill it, avoid being detected, and THEN... get it past the magic of the wall, w/ out it disintegrating, dying, or what ever it is that keeps them from passing over / through the wall for 1000's of years.

That Tyrion came up w/this hair brained idea is bad enough. He's had a horrible run of dumb choices, and w/ out any real reasons given . He of all folks should know Cersei and Jaime, and yet... well, to the point.

The only reason we even HAD this asinine plan in the first place was so that they could get into trouble, Dany and her dragons would fly north, save the day, but ... ut oh!!!! One dragon would get killed, leaving it for the Night King to raise, and then bring the wall down.

This entire cluster fuck story plot came from the producers of the show, and not J R R Martin, apparently. With all the pieces in place, and the characters , you'd think some writers could devise a better scenario than a Dirty Dozen trip up across the wall to wrangle a wight to impress / scare the shit out Cersei. Who doesn't get scared.

There were other matters, of course, that seemed tedious and poorly contrived, but all in all, the plot where VIserion ends up on the side of the Night King was by far the weakest.

Umm, the most recent season, which just ended.

Season 8 will be ( hopefully ) next summer, as there are only 6 episodes, but they'll be longer ( we're told ). Filming starts in October, and some have optimistically said we could get the show aired by late July , early August 2018.

If it really isn't until 2019 though, then they've had more than enough time to write some really awesome sub plots and there should be no excuse for bad episodes ( like we had this year )

ZEEK

Eh I at least liked that finally things were coming together. For seasons upon seasons the story was so detached. Now characters are finally interacting. Travel time is just a plot necessity at this point. We don't want to stretch the end game out 4 seasons long just to have accurate travel time.

I'll withhold judgement on the undead dragon. I just want to know if the night king has some knowledge of the future. If he knew that he'd be able to get a dragon by trapping the raiding party then it's very interesting.

Do characters travel at the speed of plot?

The Night King must have foreknowledge, for why else would his army have carried thousands of pounds of anchor chain to pull a dead dragon from a frozen lake? And then there are the javelins the Night King has been carrying for months for no reason, except the reason is his foreknowledge of what he needs for this episode. It is exactly the same as if the Night King was invited to George R. R. Martin's story conferences with David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. I wonder if conference room temperature had to be kept extra cold for the Night King?
