For all my Browncoat Buddies who were wishing me luck with the Klondike Kate pageant, thanks. Sorry to have to report that I have a huge "L" on my forehead.

The woman who won deserved to win. She was a terrific singer and put on a great show. Her name is Paula and her photo will be found at the second link below.

St. Paul Winter Carnival is the oldest civic festival in the United States and Klondike Kate is the embodiment of fun.

As they say in the Mall: Hello Minnesota!

My, it's always lovely to get reports from "The Olde Country." Even when I lived in Mpls/St. Paul, I don't think I ever actually WENT to the SPWinter Carnival (sounded too cold) but I loved reading about the various events. Sorry you didn't win Klondike Kate (didja have to model longjohns??) but I hope you had fun.

Was it last year or the year before when MN was so freakishly warm that they had to import ice? Whoa, had to reset my Doomsday Is Coming Clock when Mom told me that one. Hope this Carnival was more usual. As in, "So cold that nobody but a Minnesotan would endure it."

(Hey, I am getting worried about the planet. With the hurricanes, tsunamis, Red Sox, earthquakes, So. California under water, and GW Bush winning a second term...man, if St. Paul Carnival had no ice, I was ready to retire to my Bunker -slash - Chapel in the Basement!!)
