Time for a little blatant promotion for a guy who doesn't brag about himself much... (What is it with this modesty thing, anyway?)

Anyway, our very own PJ Shapiro, alias Stringslinger, is an indy musician making his way in the shadows of the monster that is RIAA. We all hate RIAA and whatnot, and we love our indy musicians, especially Browncoat guitarists.

Sooooooooooooo... enough talk, here's his site, which has links to his music and links to buy CDs, preferably at least three for each member of your family.

Let's show some support for one of our own, folks.

He's really very good. I'm giving his stuff two big thumbs up. Maybe more, if I can somehow grow an extra or three...

Comfy is the way...

This is cool! I'm listening to it right now. Had to sign up with mp3.com, but it sounds great.

He's excellent. His lyrics are smart and his music is catchy in the best sense of the word. I highly, highly recommend his album "I Know What You're Made Of."

His song "Outside the Box" is one I think all Browncoats will appreciate, and I told him so. By all means, check it out!

I just got my copy of I Know What You're Made Of in the mail today. I couldn't be happier and would recommend it to everyone. Great music and great work by one of our fellow Firefly fans. I haven't bought a CD in quite a while but this one is definitely worth the money. Check it out.

"Singing? They can sing?"
"There's nothing about that in the literature."
"Apparently it's something they only do certain times of the year as part of their religious ceremonies. You may not believe this, but .. it was the most beautiful sound I've ever heard. I couldn't make out the words, but I knew it was full of sadness and .. hope and wonder and .. terrible .. sense of loss.

Hey HFK,

Now that you've heard it do you have a favorite song? Let me extend this question to everyone who's heard it, and if you haven't, what are you waiting for? We're Browncoats; you know we have taste.

Well, I've only got to listen to it once through so far and so far I haven't found one that I would say I disliked. The title track is very good but if I had to choose one (mind you, only listened once so far) I think I might go with Angry. The whole album (whoops, showing my age there), I mean CD is very good. If nothing else, everyone at least check out the website and give it a chance.

Thanks, HFK, I'm glad that you are enjoying the cd. I keep referring to it as an 'album' too.

Hello all,

I wanted to bring up the great music of P.J. Shapiro again for anyone who might have missed this before and for those of you who are new around here. He really is a very talented man and I wanted to expose more people to some great music.

Please, check out his website and at least listen to some of his music. Then, if you get the chance, order a CD or two. A perfect gift to go along with your Firefly DVDs.

I was lucky enough to catch PJ performing last week at Boston's Paradise Lounge (a nice room if you're in the area. Great pizza). Not only did he do a fantastic set, he opened with a little song familiar to all Browncoats.

No, not "The Man They Call Jayne;" the other one.

Man, you got to see P.J. live? Damn, I'm jealous.

Were they swarming all over him and trying to tear his clothes off?

We don't know who put this cup of life into our hands. But when we go our bones will bake upon the burning sands. 'Cause we walk but once among the living, so no regrets and no forgiving- it's hard to dance when you're down upon your knees. And these are dark days indeed.

Not that I recall. However, one very attractive(albeit slightly inebriated)young woman did tell him he had a beautiful voice, then got kind of adorably flustered at her choice of the word "beautiful." It was the kind of moment that makes other men envious of the guy with the guitar.
