With the holidays coming up, I was wondering. What DVD's, aside from SERENITY of course, do you want to be getting for Xmas, or at least be getting on discount on Boxing Day? Here are mine and why.

Star Trek: Voyager-Seasons 4-7 (even though it's at the top of my list, it's not one of those ones that I want to get immediately. Of the different spin-offs, VOYAGER was always my fave. And I think the show hit it's stride when 7 of 9 joined the crew.)

The Sopranos: Season 5 (Another great season to one of the best non-genre shows ever. Wanna get just for the downfall of Adrianna. Truly powerful stuff)

The Job: The Complete Series (Denis Leary fan here, and the few times I saw this show on TV, thought it was funny as hell as a comedic deconstruction of the cop show)

The Twilight Zone-Seasons 3, 4 and 5 (The Definitive Editions) (The oldest and possibly best sci-fi/fantasy show ever created. Every sci-fi and fantasy show in the last fifty years or so owes a debt of gratitude to this behemoth of tv history, so why not pick it up.)

Sliders-The 3rd Season (This is purely for nostalgic reasons. One of my fave sci-fi shows as a kid. But once Arturo died, the show took a nosedive in quality, so this'll be the last one I'll pick up)

Corner Gas-Season 2 (This show is one of the best Canadian comedies ever made, and the best thing so far made in my home province of Saskatchewan. Utterly personal, and very funny. A private treat for all us Canucks on the site who has seen the show. You Yanks should try to find this show. You'll not regret it.)

The Wizard of Oz (3 Disc edition) (A classic that any archivist should have. I got DARK SIDE OF THE MOON just so that I can repeat THE DARK SIDE OF OZ experience over and over again.)

Looney Tunes Golden Collection: Volume 3 (Big Looney Tunes fan here, so why not. It's a shame Anya's afraid of bunnies. She'd never know the joy of Bugs Bunny)

King Kong: Two-Disc Collector’s Edition (tomorrow) (another one to get for archival reasons, as well as a good primer for Peter Jackson's KING KONG.)

Seinfeld: Seasons 5 and 6 (tomorrow) (Two more seasons of one of the best sit-coms ever created. I was laughing hard this morning just thinking of "The Puffy Shirt". ["Jerry, this is going to be the new look of the 90's. You're going to be the first pirate."; (whining) "But I don't wanna be a pirate."]

24: Season 4 (12/6) (The tv equivalent of cocaine. You can't get enough of this.)

Batman: TAS-Volume 4 (12/6) (The final volume of quite possibly the best animated tv show ever created)

Frank Miller’s Sin City: Re-Cut and Extended Edition (12/13) (One of the best movies of the year finally gets the deluxe treatment it fully deserves)

So what DVD's, aside from SERENITY, are you hoping to get or buy around the holidays?

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
"YES!!!I'm a man posessed by many demons....Polite demons that would open the door for a lady carrying too many parcels...BUT DEMONS NONETHELESS!!!! Yes. I have walked along the path of evil many times, it's a twisting, curving path that..actually leads to a charming plot garden, BUT BEYOND THAT EVIL!!!"

My list?

Miami Vice: season two (for the coolness)
Twilight Zone: the 1985 first season (for the brilliance)
Battlestar Galactica: first half 2nd season (cause I'm hooked)
Superman 2 (cause I've waited too long for a special edition that doesn't look to be ever coming out!)

"The world is a big place, thankfully, my needs are few."

I would have listed this one, but I'll wait for reviews first; sometimes the leaner version can be better....

oh gawd - just KNEW it!! Am outcast!!

I tired to watch Sin City for the first time last night but just couldn't finish it ...

No, it wasn't too gruesome ...

Yes, I agree it was very VERY stylish ...

But fundamentally I was just so DAMN BORED I couldn't finish it ...

And now I discover that CIA, with whom I usually agree, liked it!! Am I the only one not to GET IT???

I liked it, yes. Mostly 'cause of Willis- liked Pulp Fiction for the same reason.
It's a Willis thing.

And yeah, the flick looked good, like a comic
book (that's what it was taken from), but it was getting a little weird what with the yellow gross dude getting his nards ripped off...

What DVDS are on my wish list (other than Serenity)? Bwahahaha! You may regret asking...

Danger Mouse S1-4
The Ghost and Mrs. Muir
It Happened One Night
Fraggle Rock S1
The Complete Thin Man Collection
The Happiest Millionaire
Blackboard Jungle
The Adventures of Pete and Pete S1&2
The Black Hole

'kay, that's enough for now.

Oh! If you want to get me something cheap, I wouldn't say no to the Rocky and Rambo movies...because they're strangely satisfying to watch.

I...understand.
It's a Stallone thing.
My fav Stallone flick is Demolition Man.

And Blackboard Jungle calls out to the 11th grader in us all.

Besides "Serenity"

Buffy Seasons 1-7, Although that would pretty much eat up my famlies gift budget for me.

Sin City Extended edition, GREAT MOVIE, almost as good as Serenity in my mind.

The Princess Bride, It's a CLASSIC! complete with R.O.U.S.'s

Star Wars Ep.3, just to complete my collection and watch the extras.

I'll go for Sliders, as well.
